      It will be pretty soon once fruit tree farmers find out how well they are selling in Asian grocery stores. It grows on Philadelphia area (to my surprise) in our church’s side yard. This Sunday everybody shown for the service received 2-6 fruits !

    Thank you for making this. We bought a home with a very old persimmon tree. We don't plan to stay here long term so being able to harvest some seeds and start new trees to take with us would be very valuable. Your information is appreciated and I will definitely try your process.

    I had six seeds from persimmons I purchased at COSTCO. I planted them in a soli mix I made (decent stuff, but not like yours) about three weeks ago, they're hanging out in full sun and get daily sprinkles (just enough to reach past the seeds), but nothing has sprouted yet. I'm praying that I can have a healthy tree out of at least one, also. Thank you for the video.

    • @GrowNewPlants
      @GrowNewPlants  2 месяца назад

      You could, but I don't really see any advantage,,some people will start vegetables inside late winter to get fruit sooner, but these trees really wont do anything until they reach the right temperatures that outside provides

    Sean from the channel Edible Acres has videos about pruning beds. He has challenges with squirrels too but by using those beds, he now grows many trees. He and Akiva Silver (who wrote Trees of Power) do this very well. I'm sure you'll like the method, if you don't know about it yet. I plan to grow trees like that too. Persimmons are awesome, I hope I'll have a little orchard of them in the future. Take care!

      I honestly don't know a lot about these trees, not exactly sure if the tree I got my seeds from is a hybrid or not. I just thought it was a cool looking tree and wanted to try and grow some. I will catch the people I got the fruit from and see if they know what variety the tree was and I will post it.

    What type of Persimmon is that,
    For American Wild Persimmons, the seeds need to be COLD 🥶 for a few months.
    To get one to grow, was impressive.
    I just put a LOT of Persimmon seeds, in the refrigerator to be ready to grow in the spring.
    I'm going to sell some my seeds and some of the seedlings.
    Not that easy to find around my area.

    Hunters like the native American persimmon tree. They have much smaller fruit but much more of them on a single tree. What you planted was an Asian persimmon, which is huge compared to the American. The American have small fruit about a quarter size to a half dollar size fruit. I have a fuyu persimmon which is supposedly the best eating persimmon, as it's non astringent and can be eaten firm or soft. The Asian persimmon you better let it get really soft or it will pucker your mouth for the day
