- In Episode 27 Bugsy takes us spearfishing for flathead in old oyster leases in a NSW estuary. Flathead are a delicious fish and one of Bugsy's favourite dinners. There is a slot size limit of 36cm to 70cm for Dusky Flathead in NSW. The great thing about spearfishing is you can be very selective on which fish you take for food. Enjoy the video, fish responsibility and look after our environment for today and the future. Thanks
Great content, thanks mate!
Cheers mate
Nice work mate, Crazy how many there were!
Cheers mate. They were everywhere that day. Other days there have been hundreds of bream. Crazy how much it changes day to day
Great sir
Thank you Mone
Great video mate! I reckon you would have a great dive at the bay near our usual rock ledge. I had a snorkel there two months ago and saw some +40cm Whiting and some legal Snapper. I wish I had a speargun with me at the time!
Thank you Hai. Yes, lots to explore there. Haven't dove it for a few years. I usually struggle with the whiting, got a little lucky lately
Since when have we been able to spear un the eateries in NSW? Its always been illegal on the south coast
I was surprised too. Check out the Fisheries NSW app - FishSmart NSW. Shows you maps of where you can and cannot spearfish
Pretty sure your not allowed to spear in estuaries I'd be very careful
Hi Lee, you can in some places and not in others. I use DPI's FishSmart NSW app to ensure I abide by the rules. And yes, you have to be careful especially of the bull sharks. Cheers
Yeah right, I honestly thought there was a blanket ban on all spearing in estuaries.. I’ll have to check it out 🤙🏻
