    I just came across this video and its was exactly what I was looking for. My autofill valve is exactly the same. My pool guy charged me $125 to come out and say that my valve was fine. My water bill had doubled. He said the water level should be mid tile level and it wasn’t. He adjusted it but the water level is back up again. I will be replacing if I have too. Great video, thanks!

    Another great video. This is something that is done every couple of years. A side note on PTFE tape; it isn't used to create a better seal, it is used to help screw the item in by creating a more slippery surface.

    Hi there, long time follower! My pool water is above my pool auto leveler by about an inch. Any idea why this would occur?

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  2 года назад

      Two possibilities, first if you live in Arizona we’ve had some rain recently and that could raise level but even if you can’t hear water running there’s a possibility that you’re valve is not shutting off completely or he might have a leak in the pipe leading to the valve which often happens. In that case you need to contact somebody who is able to have listening equipment to hear if there’s a leak and then it requires excavation to fix that pipe.

      Thank you I believe some of them are adjustable or they are adjustable. You can move them up and down depending on how deep the auto fill is.

      @@cheryldunlap9363 Most of them are adjustable up and down to some degree. Yes.

    Tiny suggestion. The direction of tape wrap is important sometimes. Ideally wrap it so that when screwing the pipe in place the tape gets "tighter" as opposed to "looser". Most of the times its fine but in cases where you might have to screw/unscrew several times as you work, the tape can unwrap imperceptibly and impact its sealing effect.

      Very good point, thanks for pointing that out.

      @@PoolSchooler NP, your video was extremely helpful. I just installed a brand new one of these here. I had one originally then a few years ago it started filling erratically so my pool guy replaced it with a Korky. But that has been odd, like the water would have to drop by 1/2" or 3/4" so before the valve would trip and start filling again. I'm in Apache Junction, Arizona, on a shared well, so its much better for the filler to come on frequently for short periods rather than every two days and pull a couple hundred gallons. Be interested in your expert view on this, how these two devices compare in terms of sensitivity - how much must the water level drop in order for the valve to open and allow water in. Just adjusting it a few moments ago gives me the impression its very sensitive, like 1/8" change or so, seems to be enough to trip it.

      @@a_voice_in_the_wilderness I've used both types, the Korky like the one in this video and the Fluidmaster style as well. I used to never like the Korky's but lately I've found that they are easier to install and adjust, although I too believe that you can adjust the fluid master style in smaller increments than the Korky, so if you want that ability then the fluid master would seem the choice but either one is pretty easy to instal.

      Can you please comment on whether there Is there any difference between the Home Depot $10 toilet Fluidmaster ones and the $100 Pentair Fluidmaster ones? "Pentair 370006 Bag parts FM Autofill" looks like the same thing apart from the huge difference in price? Someone suggested the rubber parts might be different for being in the chemicals constantly? Whats your experience and how often would you change these for preventative maintenance? Is there a case for buyig the $10 toilet ones and change more often?
