We are now in a period of time where mainstream medicine is the major player in treatment of disease and yet many diseases eg cancers, autism, alzheimers are increasing at an incredible rate. It seems that modern medical practice is completely incapable of preventing these diseases and it's success rate at curing is somewhat questionable also. Regardless, we are all given inalienable rights as humans so what business is it of anyone else if I decide to treat myself with herbs or otherwise?

@dookdawg214 I beleive people have lived for millions of years , depends on which history you subscribe to , however it is true that diseases have only been around for thousands of years The placebo effect exists in every system of medicine, thats another subject, having said this I keep medical records, these show that herbs, metals and minerals cure diseases that Alopathy cannot cure

Thanks to Capricious (and several other commenters) for illustrating to the world exactly why herbalists can't be trusted. His remark is the sort of thing that passes for reason in their alternative world.

First of all, people haven't existed for millions of years. Second of all, people using something for a long time doesn't mean it works; it just means that they believed it worked. People believed in the Greek gods for a long time. People have believed in astrology for thousands of years.

I can agree with @lovepizzaforever07 that money is the root of much evil. The alt med industry is worth about $60 billion pa. That's quite enough to make the industry exaggerate what their products can achieve. The methods used by the alternative industry to deceive people are remarkably similar to those used by Big Pharma.
The main difference is that at least some of the products of Big Pharma actually work. Or do you refuse to have a local anesthetic at the dentist?

You have medical records, huh? That's great. Why don't you submit your data and results to a scientific journal and see if you can get it peer-reviewed and published?

You say "herbs truly cure diseases". Sadly this is simply not true. Would that it were so easy. You don't have to believe me. Just look at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine "Herbs at a glance" (see description)
There is little reason to believe that herbs even ameliorate symptoms of any disease, never mind cure them.
