Sadly Big Pharma uses exactly the same tricks as the (huge) alternative medicine industry to sell treatments that only too often make exaggerated clams. The main difference is that essentially no alternative treatments work -if they did they would be called medicine not alternative. And at least some of Big Pharma's products work rather well -would you refuse a local anesthetic at the dentist because it was invented and sold by big pharma? The fact is that is than nothing works well for back pain. Analgesic drugs don't and neither does acupuncture. It's an unsolved problem, like many others in medicine. When you think about it, that's obvious. If there were a good treatment then low back pain would not be the huge problem that it still is. Incidentally, this video is quite old. Since it appeared NICE has re-assessed the guidance for low back pain, It now says "Do not offer acupuncture".
