FOR EVERYONE SAYING THIS ISNT A CHISEL PLOW IT IS!!!! WE DO NOT USE FIELD CULTIVATORS IN WHEAT LAND!!! I LIVE 15 MINUTES FROM THIS FIELD. THATS MY DADS TRACTOR.
Hi why double tyres mounting? For increase traction? Is the reason why double tires are fitted to the tractors to ensure better transfer of horsepower? Is there an extra advantage?
@@atiladorsay3478 More tire on the ground more horsepower to ground… called horsepower to ground power ratio. On these model tractors expect to loose about 7-15% of your horsepower to tire slippage. Great questions btw
for all of the supper farmers yes that is a chisel plow. show me a field cultivator with shanks that far apart and that heavy and we use bigger sweeps also up tp 16in we also run spikes with heal sweeps on them and twisted shovels. this is red dirt not the black land its softer soil.
Well back in the 1970s i struggled pulling a 1 row plow with our old Ferguson TE20,, becouse every time i hit a rock bigger than say a football the tractor stalled and i almost flew out if the tractor stalled, no cab ore safetybelt, hehe and had to dig it up and lay it aside so we could remove it. so i just love to se modern tractors with lots of weight and power, that dont struglle.
Been farming all my life never been near a versatile. But I would love to. Seem like my kind of a machine and I’m a Cummings fan. But I guess we use what we can get. Good video.
Mike I was by their yard and seen some new John Deere chisels, big big chisels, and a buddy of mine seen some of their tractors running today and said they looked like new Versatile's, but to far away to see model number, but I'm assuming they probably get the biggest models they can, have you heard anything about what they are running now?
When I see tires like these, metrics I suppose or even triples I just can't get my head around buying a tracked machine. This looks like a 575hp machine, those big tracked machines all look the same. Anyway, a friend has a 575 like this, they are large and in charge units.
@@AM-yt8wz Apparently you like to argue. Look at the shanks at the 1:12 mark. Field cultivators don't or shouldn't make ridges like this is. This is a New Holland (Flexicoil) model ST830 chisel plow. If you think I'm wrong then go tell the manufacturer their literature is wrong as well. Have you ever been to this part of Texas and observed the equipment? I agree this looks similar to a field cultivator but has much heavier shanks. You can think and say what you want but I have been to and worked in this part of the country a lot and this is what they tear the ground up with right after wheat harvest.
Mike, I really enjoy watching your videos, Thank For Doing them. But A Question. I am not a farmer so when it comes to selecting the size of the tractor does it depend on the amount of land you have?? I guess the overall size of the fields??
thank you! Blue color fooled me. I thought that the spring trip set up looked Flexicoil, but blue wasn't color I associated with Flexicoil. As other posters have said, that's a good load for that tractor.
Herb Houston it's a chisel plow. Different parts of the country use them differently. In the wheat belt, they seem to be used somewhat like a field cultivator. Out there they may be 40 to 80 feet wide. Here in the Midwest, probably 25 at most (and that right there takes a hell of a tractor)
Nelson is right. They don't run them nearly as deep as we do in the east. I don't know if you guys aren't farmers that are saying it's a cultivator, but you can clearly see its a chisel plow

Great to see big time tillage.

A cultivator and chisel plow are the same thing lmao. You are very very dumb my friend...
This is a chisel plow Not a field cultivator if you think its a field cultivator do more research and you will see it is a CHISEL PLOW

Do Cummins powered tractors always have a louder / throatier exhaust tone versus other makes & models ?
Yes. Cummins have a very distinctive sound. So do cat engines. Both are very deep and throaty
And they usually have a different emissions system on it
I've never seen a chisel plow that big. Field cultivators yes but not chisel plows. 64 feet is the size of the field cultivators we pull here in MN.
Great video Mike! That is a beast setup for sure. That chisel plow was working her pretty good.

Looks like a field cultivator to me not a chisel. If that was a chisel probably need a couple more tractors.
Didn't think you Texans would by canadian tractos..
Question : The weights on the front of the Tractor, how much does each plate weigh & are they really that necessary on such a large machine ?

What a great rig ,thanks for the video.
Sorry I can't see chisel plow, I only see field cultivator!
Well then I guess you better have another look.

Mike, how is the power for size? I'm looking at running a 57' but it would be hooked to 500HP. Also on a ST830.
That's quite the harrow 😂
more SUNFLOWERS , Mike .... better depth and tillage .....
Well done, great video
beautiful work !!
