I think it’s such a compliment to you to be 26 and have a young & older demographic! I’m 43 and love how much you focus on playing up your natural beauty :)
Love this! I’m 66 yrs old and have been a subscriber for awhile now. Your makeup tips in general cut across age ranges and will give anyone a youthful look. Thank you! 👍👍👏👏
Totally agree Lynn. And how polite is it that people are discussing THE "BEST" OTHER YOU TUBE CHANNELS to watch other than Shelbey? NOT!! I think it's the rudest thing to use this space here which is provided for discussion of her video , in order to recommend OTHER channels to watch! She has devoted time and energy and trouble to make this video and tailor it to many different groups, and some have used it to talk about other channels and recommend other places to go? Not my idea of good manners..
I’m 67 and that’s exactly how I feel. I don’t want to look 10 years younger. Why would I want to look 57 😛. I just want to look my best. Well-groomed and classic is timeless.
Older women aren’t into being a celebrity dupe. We’re happy being the beautiful side of ourselves. This young woman has it going on and is ahead of her age curve. Go girl!
I agree! I’m 56 and appreciate your tips! I till have an oily T zone but have decided flat matte foundations just don’t flatter me anymore. I’m always open to tips to look more radiant and youthful, without looking greasy.
Honey, your maturity and old-soul vibe seems to have attracted just about every generation on here! I’m in my mid 40s and thoroughly enjoy your pragmatism, candid approach and appropriately placed cat-titude ❣️ I know I’m not alone when I say, I hope you go far, and further than you dreamed 💫
Pixiwoo, Lisa Eldridge, Melissa Alatorre, and Elle Leary you may want to check out. They are older women who experience it first hand and are great at addressing issues us middle age ladies face now that our skin issues have changed. Elle Leary breaks down skincare, ingredients and all sorts of stuff on her channel on top of skin issues we deal with as we age.
Jennifer LaRue You should give Shelly @ GeekOutOfWater a try. She’s my favorite RUclipsr! Also Dr. Dray- she’s an actual dermatologist, and breaks down the hype with skincare.
Thank you for sharing your age demographic. I thought I was your only over 50 viewer! I am 52 and have recently rediscovered a real love for make up and am thoroughly enjoying learning again how to do different looks and use different products. I enjoy your style and approach. X
You and Emily are two of my favorite beauty youtubers. You have practical tips, dupes, and tutorials for the everyday person, and it’s sublime! Thanks for being a positive light on this platform and for having amazing content. I hope you have a wonderful night!
Emily is one of the best beauty influencers on YT. She’s a gals gal for sure. Taylor (thatalyaa) and Casey Holmes also I really enjoy watching. Jessica Braun is another one I absolutely adore. I’ve really been getting a kick out of her since she’s become a mother. She is way more cut throat with what she keeps/recommends. Before if she didn’t like something she’d say “I really tried to like it” and now she’s just like...No, it’s gotta go, wanting to be more minimalistic. That I relate to. I feel like she should sell shirts that just say, NEXT👉🏽 Allie Glines is another who does similar face looks as Shelby. She actually spoke of Shelby recently on her channel, talking about how beautiful and natural the looks are that she creates. If you really love Shelby’s simplistic, very wearable looks, you would also really enjoy Allie.
Thank you! The main reason I subscribed to your channel is that I noticed that your look is so fresh, youthful and different from others in the best way. I couldn’t put my finger on why but I see it’s your application and it’s just such a lovely look. I’m in my mid-40’s and I’m finding that I’m needing to make lots of changes to my application and the products I chose because suddenly my long-time go-to’s just aren’t cutting anymore Tfs hun
yes same here. I'm 39 and luckily everyone has realized the instagram look is like stage makeup. exaggerated for picture purposes. you can't walk out of the house like that. the wing is not for everyone and etc. lol. she is such a beauty and is so unique in her looks .just like we all are, but for some reason been reprogrammed to think we need to all look alike lol
Forward Flower she is a lot like the Pixiwoo sister, Nic Chapman. I absolutely love that woman. She has MS yet you’d never know it by her beautiful spirit and work ethic. The woman kicks ass as a mom, wife and business owner. Allie Glines, Jessica Braun, Allana Davison, Jamie Paige, Melissa Alatorre and Lisa Eldridge you would also really like if Shelby is your cup of tea. That’s really the only beauty influencers I know of who lean more towards the light, beautiful makeup looks that suit everyone vs the rest who wear 10 lbs of makeup as their natural look and needs a spatula rather than a cleansing cloth to remove all their makeup at the end of the day.😬
Oh, yes, PLEASE! I find getting a flattering blush situation now that I'm in my late 50s is REALLY challenging!!! My skin tone is different, skin texture is different, face shape is a little different and I can't seem to get my blush to look right. I often skip it and then look really pale. HELP US, PLEASE! 😘
As a 61 year old I think you are right about these things. I knew about the foundation and avoiding matte. But not the eyeliner I stopped wearing it because I could see it didn't look right any more but didn't know how to fix it. Thank you for that advice. :)
I’m 49 , please do another video on blush highlighter and contouring . Maybe a third video on eyeshadow and mascara? Great video today! Loving the tips to make us feel better about ourselves thank you!
I agree with all your tips, but then again having oily skin makes it difficult for me to use cream products or foundations that are not matte. The struggle is real.
Elisa Lager I have oily skin and I looove cream blush, bronzer, and eyeshadow. I find that as long as I use a setting spray my makeup looks good all day
U can use mattifying primer/ natural foundation/setting spray. Just to see what fits u best. If u apply foundation with wet sponge and thin layers even matt foundation will look natural
You don’t necessarily have to use all cream products. I’d suggest going for a mattifying primer and a foundation that has more of a natural or satin finish like Dior Face and Body or L’Oréal Freshwear!
Love your content! I struggle with my makeup now that I’m in my 50’s....these are very helpful tips and tricks. I look forward to giving them a try. Thank you!
LeisureandLace same here! I’m in my 50s and I find I’m constantly having to change how I apply my makeup as I get older. For example, I have found I look better with just a tinted moisturizer because foundations, even moisturizing ones, just settle in my pores and lines and age me. My eyeshadow technique has totally changed as well and keeps changing!
patty 8873 Hi Patty- Your comment is exactly what I’ve been experiencing as well. I’m trying different techniques and products and I’ve become frustrated. I’m thinking of just using a tinted moisturizer as well. It may be because we group up in the 80s and we all know what makeup looked like back in that time period! 🤣 We were covered in makeup...no natural look about it! 😃 At my age, I look more like a clown when I have too much makeup on. I definitely appreciate the natural look. I really struggle getting my eye makeup to look natural and at the same time wanting them to be big(er) and pop!
A Norton That’s so sweet of you. If I took a pic right now, you would see my difficulties I’m having. Age is catching up...especially under the eyes. Thank for your sweet comment!
When you get those lines under your eyes, at age 50, 60 + you can't use concealer unless you put a lot of serum and moisturizer there and then just carefully dot It on top and press it ever so gently around. You can't sweep it on like the RUclipsrs do and push it all the way up to your lower lid and down your cheek because all you have is texture and a mess and the concealer just highlights the heck out of it.
Your tips are invaluable to me! Thank you for posting this. I have been struggling to adjust my makeup to my older 67 year old skin. Thank you for sharing.
"avoid layering" & "over powdering"--finally, someone figured it out. The more product under eyes where lines and wrinkles are most predominant, piling products actually ages the person. It is a neon sign pointing to them screaming LOOK WHAT I'M TRYING TO HIDE!
"There's a certain time and certain place for black liner." Yes, thank you! I recently turned 30 so I appreciate these tips. I have hereditary dark circles and need to be careful with my eye products as to not look "older."
Best lightweigh fluffy brush for powder is the EcoTools Sheer Powder (or mini Sheer Powder) brush! Perfect powder placement every time with loose and pressed powder!
This video speaks directly to my concerns. I’ve been playing with makeup for most of my 57 years, but alway seem to learn something new from you😊 Thank you for being a RUclipsr that doesn’t talk down to your viewers. 💙
Thank you! Very helpful. I am nearly 63 and a former make up artist so I really appreciate what you have done here. I don't see a link to the lip gloss. Maybe I am missing something? My dermatologist has told me to stop using anything with wax. So the gloss you mentioned might work. Thanks again.
Amen. 100% correct all around. Especially the brown! A nice brown liner or shadow is so much fresher, more youthful, than black. Even a perfectly applied black liner can look harsh on most women over the age of like 22. Ok, I exaggerate, but still, try the brown.
My eyes are way too sensitive to put anything on waterline. Even eye makeup needs to be Clinique, Almay, or other brand which doesn't antagonize allergies.
Agree 100% less is more. I'm 48. Have you ever tried Jane iredale products? Their BB cream and liquid minerals foundation are awesome for mature skin. Ulta just started carrying their line.
Sherry G No way! I love Jane Iredale! I used it at a spa I use to work for and I was really impressed. The circle delete is a must have for me! Im so excited that Ulta is going to have it!
@@MeredithHammett if you call, they will send you free samples of their foundations, bb creams or tinted moisturizer. I used to have cystic acne but once I started using her line, it cleared up completely.
You are so right about the foundation. I think people try to overcompensate now with highlighters as well. You're making me get rid of a load of my lipsticks too!
Great tips! At 50 my life changed once I stopped pressing full coverage powder into full coverage foundation lol and gave up black liner for soft grey ( and stopped lining the bottom lid entirely!!) so these tips are spot on 👍
Great tips! Especially about the eye pencil color. I have been using a charcoal instead of black and like you think that softer colors work way better for everyday look than black. Thanks for the video!
Fantastic video! Thank you so much. I will be 40 this year and since turning 35 or so I have totally changed the way I wear and choose makeup. Oddly enough, I find I wear less now and look better (or so I’m told LOL).
Wearing less make up is key! Foundation, concealer, baking, powder.... Too much layers for wrinkles. I prefer that my freckles shine through than covering my whole skin with several thick layers. I go lighter with the shades as well, on eyes and lips.
Great video! I’m 53 and recently realized a dewy foundation is a much more youthful look and gives my skin a healthy glow. I will definitely start trying these other suggestions.
Can you PLEASE do a video for aging faces with loss of volume? I do not use contour as I have hollowed out cheeks. where or how to wear for bronzer, blush and highlighter are a challenge because of the loss of volume, along with sagging. Not so much wrinkling, but significant loss of volume. I hope you see this comment! I always go back to your videos for reference, but have not found a specific video addressing placement of products on aging skin with loss of volume. THANK YOU SHELBEY!!!
I think you give very good advice given your age. I'm 49 and ive taken quite a few of your tips, copied some of your looks and now only does my makeup look much better, I also look younger.
Clarins skin illusion foundation is super gorgeous on mature ladies, it is medium / build able coverage with a healthy glow /sheer sheen finish...I am 53 and it is perfection
Thank you Shelbey .. I am turning 60 in a month and I love watching your channel. Love how much you encourage a minimalistic look and a light hand for aging women. I am excited to try your cream eyeshadow look too. Loved your 5 points .. very appropriate. Keep up the wonderful videos. I would love your insight on if Bare Minerals would still be appropriate for a woman my age. That was my first foundation I ever used back in my late 20's. Believe it or not I never wore a foundation until then. I was blessed with good skin. FRECKLED ... LOL ... but clear, skin. So I only used a bit of blush and mascara. Different now days. I do have the typical smile lines now. Full coverage foundation has never flattered my skin. Nor matte. I like fresh wearing, dewy light to medium coverage. Would love your input on your favs. Thanks Shelbey.
I had read somewhere that the "eye lid gap" that you spoke of tends to become more prominent as a person ages. A number of years ago Wayne Goss had a video that showed how tight lining was much more attractive on an older person and I've been doing it ever since. I had trouble with putting on a thin strip of eyeliner and making sure each eye matched. Tight lining is a great solution for that. I generally take a very small flat-ended brush and dab powder shadow under my lashes in that gap. It works really well and stays all day. I don't like to do the water line because it makes my eyes look even smaller and they tend to water quite often. I just run a small brush of eye shadow powder right in my lower lashes. You had great, common sense tips and I was glad to see that I've been doing them already!! I like your manner and style and am a brand new sub! Thank you!
I’m 73 and having just had cataract op I noticed that all the eyes specialists say never to use makeup on the inner eyelid space - it is a sure way to introduce bacteria into the eye. Apart from the reality that doing so makes the eyes look smaller, I’m not going to risk it! Eyesight is too important to take for granted.
Great tips I would also add when doing the eyes make sure they are wide open not forcefully but naturally so you can see what you’re working with and how the product looks rather than the old school way or closing one eye and then applying makeup to the closed eye.
Thanks for this video. I'm 58, but want to look the best I can w/o adding more "maturity" to my looks. Appreciate the tips! Love your hair and m/u today!
I use a powder foundation and I'm 63. My saviour is to spray my face with a rosewater spray or evian and this means no cake. Also I use a radiant primer underneath
I’m 46 a I don’t have a problem with you putting it on yourself. That doesn’t change the fact that the technique is for us older ladies. We were going to have to try it for ourselves anyway so we will see it on some one our age at that time. Thanks for thinking of us Sug 😘
I am 34 and I have some fine lines and dark under eye circles. I’m having a hard time trying to cover up the blue tone and usually product builds up in the fine lines. I am using the bare minerals bare skin concealer and the pixi peach corrector but it doesn’t seem to make my under eyes look any better. Do you have any products you can recommend? And how do I conceal this area and actually make it look brighter and not so dull? Love all your videos! Thanks!
agree. just found your channel. love the more natural looks and the liquid products. i am over 40 and have scaled back my makeup - trying to have a more dewy look. for a long time i heard as you age use matte makeup not shiny or any shimmer. i cannot wear matte lips, i prefer a dewy foundation, i like the idea of shadow instead of liner. my question is do you thiink women over 40 should wear highlight and bronzer? and also what about the caviar eye stick by Laura?
Maybe you can give me some advice about what to wear on my lips. I'm 57 and have never really worn makeup even though I love it, I do wear lip gloss and balms and those things. I've recently started having the problem of the color seeping out in to the lines above my lip, how do I keep that from happening? Does lip liner work for that? I would appreciate any help you can offer. I just came across your videos and love your fresh, honest approach. Than you.
this was so helpful for those of us 40+. I've been making some of those changes and it's really made a difference. thanks for providing these kinds of tips!
I loved your “less is more” makeup tips for those of us older subscribers! At 71 I’m still a makeup junkie and find it difficult to scale back on the looks that have worked in the past. Thanks again for your tips!
Love your videos! You are very lovely with beautiful skin. And your tutorials so practical and helpful. Plus you have a bit of sassiness which I love. I am 60 but keep up to date with skin care and makeup and I am fortunate I have good skin with few lines. Thank you.
Hi Shelbey! Like many of the other commenters here, I subscribed to your channel because of your inclination toward a light and fresh makeup standard. I'm a busy mom at 37 and while I enjoy seeing someone else's full-glam beat, it's just not helpful or realistic for my own use. Thank you for swimming against the youtube mainstream, it has helped me stay grounded! I will mention that for me, some mattifying translucent powder has helped to blur pores and fine lines - but I don't use liquid foundation, so it's not about setting. I couldn't agree more about staying away from the dry, cakey look!
This video is summary why I watch your videos. Not do vs dont but comparing. Not just showing but educating. You always are great at helping a viewer identify what would work for them vs what wouldnt. And talking techniques.
Thank you Shelbey and thank you for the product recommendations. I'm 64 and have had to change how I do not only my makeup, but skincare. Have a fantastic week ❤
I’m 44 and totally agree with everything you said in this video! I must be doing it right so far and that’s good to know :) I will be subscribing now. Thanx so much 😘
I love your content so much and I always learn something new from your videos. I like how your makeup looks are wearable and practical! Your videos are so packed full of knowledge
You are so right on. You definitely know what you're talking about Shelby. I love make -up and I can see you're an expert. Thank you for your videos and the fact that you give the brand names of products.
Shelby you are wise beyond your years. I am 57 and powder makes my skin look dry even just a little bit. I also have protruding eyes and any liner makes them bigger. Thanks for all your wonderful and informative videos.
I'm so glad I found this! I was hoping you would do one and it's already on here. Thank you!! I'm 58 and it's not texture, Shelbey, it's flat out wrinkles! Lol
Foundation, colorful and heavy eyeshadow, and powder products!!! To look young your best friends will be, tinted moisturizer and cream products such as cream blush and subtle highlighter
You are so right on, girl! Thanks for this! I’m 49 and definitely agree that less is more as we age. I have fairly nice skin but i will look 99 years old if I pile on full coverage makeup, concealer, heavy eyeliner, etc...I cover my age spots with It Cosmetics bye bye under eye concealer, do light contouring, brush either It Cosmetics Celebration foundation or BareMinerals Bisque all over, fill in brows a bit, and use some lip gloss. Bam! Done. I also use Latisse on my lashes to add some length and dye them black so I look like I actually have eyes lol. I’m not good with falsies and hate mascara. I appreciate you reaching out to my age demographic...I recently subbed and love love love your videos and really enjoy your straight forward and charming personality.
I’m 42 and have uneven and red blotchy skin with large pores and no matter what foundation I try I can’t get the results I really want. If it covers the red unevenness then it make my pores look 10 times bigger. Can you suggest anything that might work better? Thank you !
This video is spot on!! The advice about the eyeliner is exactly correct. Brown around the eyes is so much more forgiving than a harsh black line. How'd you get so smart at yput age? Your own makeup looks perfect also!❤
I’m going to be 52 and wear whatever I feel makes me look beautiful. Like a matte lip dries me out major so I stick with gloss. To me its preference vs age. Love your tips though!!
Thank you for your presentation. I'm in my sixties and I have friends that are doing the same make of Dave done for the last 40 years. They're seeing all these people with way too much makeup on for the skin everyday. Unless you're going for a photoshoot are your performer it seemed a little over the top. And they are using so much on their face you need a jackhammer to get it off. I've used several different methods depending upon the day. I start out with a good cleanse and moisturize my skin. And if my skin is dry I either use a cream concealer and just touch up the areas on my face that are discolored or sunspot damage. But I had a little lipstick or chapped lips, the pink Frost is my favorite, and some mascara. A touch of blush on the cheeks and I'm ready to go. Other days I may go into mineral foundation with a blush and I'll also use of wash on my eyes it gives a nice finish to the skin. That a little mascara and lipstick or gloss and I'm out the door. Not for a party or something special are yous concealer where needed a light Foundation buff gently into the skin and then a light translucent powder a little bit of bronzer and a little bit of gouache. My lips are lines until then and then I use a lipstick. My eyebrows are always done whether it's a casual day or a chest of day and I use a sweat proof powder on the eyebrows. They fill in all the gaps and make my eyebrows look fabulous. Can I use a natural base shadow over the whole eyelid and a neutral Contour around the eyes. I either line my eyebrows or I just. And between the eyelashes she give more depth to the base without having to draw a line. That I curl my lashes put two coats of mascara on and I'm ready to go online makeup stay someplace all night or day. So appreciate what you had to say and I will be passing this on to my friends that I've been trying to get change their makeup to a more natural look they think by using all these products are face looks like they're keeping up with today's makeup fashion. But actually it makes their face seem heavily coated I can see all the powder cuz it's they have too much on and I could see their face looking pull down heavy not flattering, the pink cross is my favorite, and two mascara. A touch of blush on the cheek and I'm ready to go. Other days I'm a go into mineral foundation with a blush and all also use of Warsaw my eyes it gives a nice finished for the skin. That a little mascara and lipstick or gloss and I'm out the door. Now for a party or something special all use concealer where needed a light foundation bus gently into the skin and then a light transmission powder a little bit of bronzer and a little bit of wash. My lips are Lions until then and then I use a lipstick. My eyebrows are always done weather it's a casual day or a chest of day and I use a sweat proof powder on the iris. They feel in all the gas and make my eyebrows
I appreciate this video, thank you! I’m 63. Right now I’m very very ill. I’ve been bedridden for almost four years. I can nearly make it to the bathroom, let alone apply makeup. In the event I do get well, can you tell me if I can wear Bareminerals” powder”? I’ve always loved it and always drew compliments on how wonderful my complexion was. Liquid seems to turn on me and settle in lines. I don’t really have that many lines, but those I do have, liquid does seem to accentuate. xoxo
I’m 46 and the best translucent powder that works for me is the It cosmetics cause it’s talc free, I agree with every one of your recommendations! They have been working great for me Thank you !
Using eyeshadow as liner: brilliant! I do this with an angle brush, pushing pigment into base of lashes. I have hooded eyes, so not much real estate in that area. I love gloss/lipstick hybrids too. I’m 68 and I’ve been using a sheer luminous liquid foundation since lines started appearing in my 40’s. Great tips!
This was so great! Even those of us who know these tips, seeing it demonstrated next to the aging alternative was a super helpful reminder. I’d love to see a part 2 of this covering under eye concealer, blush, bronzer etc. Placement of these things makes such a difference and sometimes it’s hard to translate advice into what I should do for my specific features. (I’m in my mid 30s and I feel like all of a sudden I’m not trying to sculpt my face I’m trying to make up for lost volume in my cheeks! Miss that baby fat, who could have guessed 😂)
Great video Shelby! I appreciate it. I’m 42 and have always loved makeup but I’m relaxing the game has to change for me now as my skin is changing. I would love to see a video like this for events and photography though for aging skin too? How heavy handed and full coverage should we go for weddings and events where we know we will see people in person but also be photographed?
Another great foundation for us older gals is the Chanel Sublimage foundation. Pricey, but worth it. Gives light to medium coverage, doesn't settle into fine lines, cracks and crevices. I love your peaches and cream complexion and I enjoyed this video so much!
Shelbey, I just love your videos! I am 66 and I am trying to learn how to simplify a little. I love the eyeshadow you had on in this video. Could you tell me what it is? Is it one color or more than one color? Rhonda
Thanks for this video! I have learned to tight line my eyes at 77 and you are so right about the liner on the lids wanting to skip because of the aged eyelids. I have practiced many years & I have found a thin liquid liner works but it takes practice! I even learned how to do it with my left hand when I had shoulder surgery. The only thing I missed on this video was blush & high lighter. Since my cheeks aren’t as plump it’s a problem! You always give great examples! My eyebrows have a few gray hairs so when my hair is highlighted she dyes them & I love this! Thanks again as we may be aging but we want to do so looking great! Thanks 🥰
Great tips, Shelbey! I’m 57 y.o. I have tried about a million different eyeliners but still found them too harsh for my age. Thx to u....I have been using brown shadow as eyeliner. Thx so much! Yeah...I love the Marc J. Gloss stick too.
So many great tips. I'm 61 and I agree with every one. Lately, I've lightened up my foundation considerably. I love CT Wonder Light. I also started using tinted sunscreens. I have good skin so I can get away with wearing just that. Favorites are Australian Gold Tinted 50, PCA Skin Tinted Broad Spectrum 45 and Kiehl's Tinted 50. Two pressed powders that look great on mature skin, Jouer Soft Focus Hydrate and Set Powder and Laura Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder. My lids are too crepey to use liquid liner any longer so a great eyeshadow palette for lining/tightlining is Natasha Denona's Biba. The colors are perfect and so creamy they actually mimic liquid liner. And they stay put! Great lipsticks/glosses for lined lips are Gurlain lipsticks in satin, Pat McGrath glosses and a small lipstick manufacturer called ColortheWorld. Wonderful hand poured creamy lipsticks that give a percentage of $ from each color choice to a different charity. I hope you don't mind me listing these but I am the demographic you mentioned and if I can help my sisters look younger and feel good I want to. BTW, you look great. Love your hair. It's the first time I've seen it down. Such pretty highlights that bring out your gorgeous eyes! Thank you Shelbey for paying attention to your older fans and addressing our unique needs. So few YTs do that. Sometimes mature women feel invisible. One more thing, you are fast becoming my favorite YTr ❤❤❤❤.
Absolutely! Less is more. 54 years old here and agree with you completely Shelby! I use a tinted sunblock in the summer, with a tad (teeny amount) of bareminerals complexion rescue (water based). T-zone coverage with W3LL People bio powder. Before bareminerals, TooGaced Hangover Rx (in mist, not lotion). Enough! Good to go. Of course, over 50 - Retinol will help collagen production and even out some texture. Start SLOWLY.
I think it’s such a compliment to you to be 26 and have a young & older demographic! I’m 43 and love how much you focus on playing up your natural beauty :)
Awesome 👍 comment, I completely agree!
I'm a new sub and 42. Thanks! :)
Love this! I’m 66 yrs old and have been a subscriber for awhile now. Your makeup tips in general cut across age ranges and will give anyone a youthful look. Thank you! 👍👍👏👏
Totally agree Lynn. And how polite is it that people are discussing THE "BEST"

NOT!! I think it's the rudest thing to use this space here which is provided for discussion of her video , in order to recommend OTHER channels to watch! Totally agree.
I am 46. I am never going to look like an Instagram model. Just want to look like the best me. 😊
Paula Hillier You’re really pretty! I don’t see why you couldn’t be an Instagram model if you wanted.
@@holborne235 lol. Thank you.
You’re BEAUTIFUL
nor do we want to look like them! :-) I think they do make up for entertainment purposes..
I’m 67 and that’s exactly how I feel. I don’t want to look 10 years younger. Why would I want to look 57 😛. I just want to look my best. Well-groomed and classic is timeless.
You are one of the few youtubers who really resonate with the over 50 genre. I always come back to your videos!
I totally agree!, I frequently binge watch Shelbey's bareminerals videos all the time & constantly learn something new that missed before.
Older women aren’t into being a celebrity dupe. We’re happy being the beautiful side of ourselves. This young woman has it going on and is ahead of her age curve. Go girl!
I'm 63 And I appreciate all these tips. Please do a hair and make up video on your look today, you look beautiful.
Yees, exactly what i was thinking :)
I agree ☝️. I’m 54 so I too appreciate your tips !
I'm 48 and also feel happy with this type of video ♥
I agree! I’m 56 and appreciate your tips! I till have an oily T zone but have decided flat matte foundations just don’t flatter me anymore. I’m always open to tips to look more radiant and youthful, without looking greasy.
achm same here.
I’m 60 and love your channel! Lisa Eldridge also likes a light touch with foundation. You’re a smart young woman. Keep it up!
Honey, your maturity and old-soul vibe seems to have attracted just about every generation on here! I’m in my mid 40s and thoroughly enjoy your pragmatism, candid approach and appropriately placed cat-titude ❣️
I know I’m not alone when I say, I hope you go far, and further than you dreamed 💫
I love that you did this video! I’m 46 and I’m a huge beauty lover but it’s a challenge to find you tubers who don’t forget about our demographic. 😘
🥰🥰🥰
Pixiwoo, Lisa Eldridge, Melissa Alatorre, and Elle Leary you may want to check out. They are older women who experience it first hand and are great at addressing issues us middle age ladies face now that our skin issues have changed. Elle Leary breaks down skincare, ingredients and all sorts of stuff on her channel on top of skin issues we deal with as we age.
Check out hot and flashy too..
Jennifer LaRue You should give Shelly @ GeekOutOfWater a try. She’s my favorite RUclipsr! Also Dr. Dray- she’s an actual dermatologist, and breaks down the hype with skincare.
Lots of us 46 year old girls on here.
Thank you for sharing your age demographic. I thought I was your only over 50 viewer! I am 52 and have recently rediscovered a real love for make up and am thoroughly enjoying learning again how to do different looks and use different products. I enjoy your style and approach. X
I'm 60, just decided to try make up, love watching her videos
You and Emily are two of my favorite beauty youtubers. You have practical tips, dupes, and tutorials for the everyday person, and it’s sublime! Thanks for being a positive light on this platform and for having amazing content. I hope you have a wonderful night!
Agreed!!
Thanks so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
🙋♀️yep I agree too!
I love both of their styles, too!
I feel like she should sell shirts that just say, NEXT👉🏽
Allie Glines is another who does similar face looks as Shelby.
I’m in my mid-40’s and I’m finding that I’m needing to make lots of changes to my application and the products I chose because suddenly my long-time go-to’s just aren’t cutting anymore
Tfs hun
yes same here.
No not
Forward Flower she is a lot like the Pixiwoo sister, Nic Chapman. That’s really the only beauty influencers I know of who lean more towards the light, beautiful makeup looks that suit everyone vs the rest who wear 10 lbs of makeup as their natural look and needs a spatula rather than a cleansing cloth to remove all their makeup at the end of the day.😬
@@mishmash3968 hahaha spatula. i love lisa Eldridge. she is a timeless classic makeup artist
Im 17 but i watched this video so i can do my moms makeup and make her feel beautiful!
Renée _ I’m in my 20s but I did the same! 😇
@@alize0623 SAME! LOL
What a beautiful heart you have x
Sweet girls!
Renée _ Awww. That’s sweet.
Very informative video👍 Can you do a part two? All about blush, bronzers and highlighters?
Yes yes!!!
Yes, please do more. And a video how to wear lipsticks for mature lips. Love your channel. Watch you every day.
oooo great idea!
I'm 36 and I completely agree with you. After 30, less means more. Which eye shadow do you wear?
Completely agree with you. Whats missing is a solution for super thin and super spare eyebrows 😩😩😩
As a 61 year old I think you are right about these things. I knew about the foundation and avoiding matte. But not the eyeliner I stopped wearing it because I could see it didn't look right any more but didn't know how to fix it. Thank you for that advice. :)
I am 72 and love your videos. Very natural and beautiful. Just my opinion, I like your hair darker color. But dark or light, very beautiful and sweet.
I’m 49 , please do another video on blush highlighter and contouring . Maybe a third video on eyeshadow and mascara?
Great video today! Loving the tips to make us feel better about ourselves thank you!
Good heavens Miss Shelley-
YOU are working in your flow state- girl- you are such an old soul- you know your topic- wisdom beyond your years!
Awesome!
I agree with all your tips, but then again having oily skin makes it difficult for me to use cream products or foundations that are not matte. The struggle is real.
Elisa Lager I have oily skin and I looove cream blush, bronzer, and eyeshadow. I find that as long as I use a setting spray my makeup looks good all day
Elisa Lager same 🤷🏻♀️
U can use mattifying primer/ natural foundation/setting spray. Just to see what fits u best. If u apply foundation with wet sponge and thin layers even matt foundation will look natural
You don’t necessarily have to use all cream products. I’d suggest going for a mattifying primer and a foundation that has more of a natural or satin finish like Dior Face and Body or L’Oréal Freshwear!
bri y me too! I’ve been slowly transitioning into wearing cream products and I love it!!
My eyeshadow technique has totally changed as well and keeps changing!
patty 8873 Hi Patty-
Your comment is exactly what I’ve been experiencing as well.
I’m trying different techniques and products and I’ve become frustrated. I’m thinking of just using a tinted moisturizer as well. It may be because we group up in the 80s and we all know what makeup looked like back in that time period! 🤣
We were covered in makeup...no natural look about it! 😃
At my age, I look more like a clown when I have too much makeup on.
I definitely appreciate the natural look.
I really struggle getting my eye makeup to look natural and at the same time wanting them to be big(er) and pop!
Gurl!!!! You look so good and way younger than 50 something.
💜💜💜💜
I have hereditary dark circles too, I know exactly what you’re talking about! I’m 25 but these tips are very applicable to me.
Best lightweigh fluffy brush for powder is the EcoTools Sheer Powder (or mini Sheer Powder) brush! Perfect powder placement every time with loose and pressed powder!
I have both of these and they are great. I love a travel brush that has the same size head, Real Techniques has some like this too.
Less is more as you get older. Except when it comes to clothing. 😉
Any tips for those who wear contact lenses & can't do tight liner on water line?
Except for clothing? To hide fat?
@@madalynguerrero8341 i wear contacts and still tight line tho....just make sure your product Is contacttf safe
My eyes are way too sensitive to put anything on waterline. Even eye makeup needs to be Clinique, Almay, or other brand which doesn't antagonize allergies.
Or diamonds lol
I am 52 and really like you/your videos! Your information is progressive yet practical. Thank you 😊!
I keep seeing that brand lately and I'm super intrigued. A lot of seasoned makeup artists use that range of products and swear by them!
@@malindasmith3496 I love circle delete to. Their lip glosses especially candied rose are awesome to
@@MeredithHammett if you call, they will send you free samples of their foundations, bb creams or tinted moisturizer. I used to have cystic acne but once I started using her line, it cleared up completely.
You are so right about the foundation. I think people try to overcompensate now with highlighters as well. You're making me get rid of a load of my lipsticks too!
I'm 54 and have just discovered the IT bye bye pores powder. This stuff really works.i also like the pore festional primer underneath it.
Totally agree with not using matte lipstick! I recently bought maybelline matte lipstick and it made me look ten years older.
I'm so fair that black eyeliner makes me look like a completely different person. I love brown liner and even grey.
Katie Hopkins I’m really fair too and love brown and grey liner 👌🏼🙂
Fantastic video! Thank you so much. I will be 40 this year and since turning 35 or so I have totally changed the way I wear and choose makeup. Oddly enough, I find I wear less now and look better (or so I’m told LOL).
❤️❤️❤️
yes.less is more
Wearing less make up is key! Foundation, concealer, baking, powder.... Too much layers for wrinkles. I prefer that my freckles shine through than covering my whole skin with several thick layers. I go lighter with the shades as well, on eyes and lips.
Awesome tips. Can you recommend a under eye concealer that doesn’t emphasize fine lines? Thanks!!
Thank you! I am 46 years old and these tips are so helpful. I will completely utilize them in my makeup routine now.
Great video! I’m 53 and recently realized a dewy foundation is a much more youthful look and gives my skin a healthy glow. I will definitely start trying these other suggestions.
Your explanations are so clear and simple. I understood everything you said. Thank you
Can you PLEASE do a video for aging faces with loss of volume?
I would have loved to hear what products and colors you used in your makeup in this video. Eyes, cheeks, lips were so beautiful in this video 💖
Kit Hale do u spray your face after or before
I’m 46 a I don’t have a problem with you putting it on yourself. That doesn’t change the fact that the technique is for us older ladies. We were going to have to try it for ourselves anyway so we will see it on some one our age at that time. Thanks for thinking of us Sug 😘
Such great tips! I feel like so much of youtube is just full coverage everything. I've really strayed away from those techniques.
Than you.
I like the side by side comparisons. Thanks for sharing. I am 42 and found this helpful.
this was so helpful for those of us 40+. I've been making some of those changes and it's really made a difference. thanks for providing these kinds of tips!
I'm so glad I've found your channel 🙏 you are fun and realistic! Thank you for not doing Instagram makeup ✌🏼️
Thank you! 🥰
What about which concealer to use and how, I am struggling with it thank you!
You are so right on. You definitely know what you're talking about Shelby. I love make -up and I can see you're an expert. Thank you for your videos and the fact that you give the brand names of products.
Your hair looks amazing in this video! Of course the video content is great too :)
I just recently began applying liner under my top lashes and it was like a magic wand! So much more polished =)
Shelby you are wise beyond your years. I am 57 and powder makes my skin look dry even just a little bit. I also have protruding eyes and any liner makes them bigger. Thanks for all your wonderful and informative videos.
I'm 56 and a long-time subscriber. I appreciate your honesty. Especially if it's going to help me to look better. I need all the help I can get.
This was very helpful! I would love to see a tutorial for your eye makeup here. I am noticing that my black eyeliner is less flattering as I near 40.
36 and am noticing my skin changes and now have to learn new techniques to do my makeup. Thank you! Hugs from Texas!! (;
I'm so glad I found this! I was hoping you would do one and it's already on here. Thank you!! I'm 58 and it's not texture, Shelbey, it's flat out wrinkles! Lol
Tightlining and trimming the inner lid makes my eyes look much smaller and sort of 1980's. We always trimmed our eyes with black.
I'm 26 and I think that these tips are great not only for 35+ but for everyone!😍
Your own makeup looks perfect also!❤
I’m new to your channel and love these tips. I’m 50 and always looking for helpful information because I love make up!
Great tips!
Shelley, just today I received the Boy Brow...haven't used it yet, but fun to hear you mention it!
Wow, Shelby an excellent video, hugely helpful and you covered things others haven’t mentioned. Thank you ❤️
Great video Shelby!
Thanks 🥰
Sue Cone Totally agree Sue 🤗🎈
Great video Shelby, really helpful. I’m 50 and needed this advice ❤️😊
Hello Shelbey, just wanted to thank you so much again for this video & ask you to do more of this type if possible. You rock! Have a blessed day.
love seeing a beauty guru who is beautiful in a different way! love your look and down to earth style
