Timber is a far more sustainable building material than steel, which uses loads of energy to make and produces masses of greenhouse gases. Who would want steel structural members used in their loft build - it is a thing of the past, eh Rob ! 😉
I've worked on a few site's in my past and rob is one of those guy's that make work a joy, dont know about anyone else but i could watch an hour episode each time.
I have a hipped roof so it prevents anything like this from happening, we need to save up and get it gabled lol because this is just a brilliant addition to any home
Welcome back matey. Been looking forward to more loft videos from you. The eco trus stuff was great, but I most enjoyed your stair videos which showed off some great carpentry
Hi Rob great to see you back, i am looking at boarding out my loft and wondered if you are planning on doing any step by step guides (to help the basic diyer) on how you board out a loft. Would be great to know the size of the timber that you use and how you secure the joists as to not add to much weight to the existing joists and ceiling. Keep up the good work and look forward to watching more videos in the future.
Guys i have a question, do you need to build loft space according to a regulation like loft conversion and do you need to have specific type of stairs? Or simple conversion of adding boards is fine?
Cheers Rob, we have a similar sized loft but don’t have the head height to make it into a habitable space. What brand and thickness of rigid insulation would you recommend for the best performance with minimal thickness? Thank you again
Quality work Rob. May i ask what measurement the floorboards were 6x3? Also, is it possible to lay the floorboards onto the existing joists? Thanks in advance.
Caberfloor or similar, are 8 by 4 foot tongue and groove all round (TG$) The ceiling structure is not 'joists' - but for light duty storage might be ok.
always enjoyed your Videos Rob, Sorry to hear it has gone sour with Ecotrus.. Will you still install their systems or is it something you can source elsewhere? I keep toying with the idea (kids getting older and needing more space). I would get you down to sunny (ish) Essex but I don't think it would be cost effective. Good lock out on your own and keep them videos coming..
Good to see you back at it. Shame it all went south very quickly with those who shall not be named - not the way to treat employees and fellow directors. I'm sure you'll smash it as you are doing here. I couldn't help but notice that turkey teeth have took some damage....? What happened there then? 😂
Rob great to see you back and sorry to hear your tale of woe, just move on and be a success on your own
Thanks bud
Great to you & the boy's in action with some traditional materials, Lovely woodwork chaps. Take care & stay safe

Hi , best of luck on your own , you will never be short of work , Kudos to you and your guys .
Thank you so much

Thanks Rob, i could imagine them being popular.@@builditwithrob
Thanks for the vlog, really enjoyed it.
No problem Ian 👍
Hey Rob . Good job mate. Would you ever consider doing a loft conversion if the ceilings below the rafters were asbestos ?
You'd get a specialist company in to remove it, and the owner would pay for that separately.
Hi bud it could be done but I couldn’t cut a staircase hatch out
@@builditwithrob Thanks for the reply. Its giving a bit of a dilemma tbh.
@@fencer39 of course it would make sense to take ceilings down and remove all asbestos but it’s costly
Will you be using the metal system agin? I sure you can create your own brand

Great Video Rob. Can I ask, what thickness of insulation did you use between the rafters, and what gap did you leave behind it for air flow? Thank you
Hello Edward
As it’s only storage space we use 25mm insulation leaving 50mm airflow gap
Cheers Rob, we have a similar sized loft but don’t have the head height to make it into a habitable space. What brand and thickness of rigid insulation would you recommend for the best performance with minimal thickness? Thank you again
@@edwardp5754 we use ecotherm, Quintherm, and celotex insulation depending on supplier in area
Where did you get the pre fab eve doors from? Or did you make them onsite?
I make the cupboards to suit
Quality job as usual Rob 👍
Thank you 👍

Hello It depends on the ceiling timbers you currently have and what walls support them below, the boards where 8x2 tongue and grooved chipboard
@@builditwithrob- much obliged Rob, thank you.

Hi Steve I won’t be fitting the metal system any longer traditional methods till I find another way 👍
Rob - do you travel anywhere in the country now, or have a maximum radius around where you are based?
Hello friend, I travel nation wide I’m based in leeds
How much was this conversion. I only ask as it’s about the same size as my loft?.
Hello friend it was around £9500
@@builditwithrobthanks mate I might have this done then in the near future 😊
@@lethalno1 you know who to ask 😉
Nice work, how much does such a job cost?
Hello friend this package ranges from £4000 to £10000 depending on size of loft, amount of windows, amount of cupboards, and insulation wanted
awesome
Nice
What’s the new company called?
I’m staying with BUILD IT WITH ROB
