Not that we have control over this but I had my 2 front upper teeth pulled due to simultaneous failure of root canals. Yes my teeth don’t have long lives. Anyhow, I had implants and my high register easily increased by 2 whole steps. This leads me to believe that the configuration of the mouth and teeth plays a part how easy it is to have a high register. I feel much more comfortable with a high F than I did before.
Howdy Nick! Just got back from your show in Memphis last night, and it was really something special! I only started playing Trombone within the last couple months, and hearing a beautiful jazz tone live really gives me something to strive for! Every tune from the show had me tapping my foot and moving my body. I'll definitely try playing along sometime with the vinyl
Great to meet you - thanks for coming out to the show! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Keep up the hard work - I look forward to hearing you play those solos sometime!
Nick, love the vids as always. Working on my audition for the masters program at UNT for fall 25, was wondering if you are accepting students at UNT then?
Another thing worth mentioning is that we don't play the same every day, so don't get discouraged if you make a breakthru then slip back a bit- that's normal. On bad days just do what you can, but keep going, singing "I was gonna quit trombone, but then I got high". The good days make up for it, and then some.

That’s definitely true. Your body makeup is a huge part of the equation!!!
