- Footloose (Cochran-Rupp)
played by
Carl Fenton’s Orchestra
Brunswick 2943
(78 rpm record)
According to Johnson & Shirley (“American Dance Bands on Record and Film 1915 - 1942”), the singer is Jack Kaufman. They also state that the personnel is as follows:
12 (unknown) musicians present. Recorded New York, August 21, 1925.
Pretty easy discographic information, that. “Carl Fenton” was, of course, the extraordinarily talented Gus Haenschen who did almost everything. You can read about him in this article I wrote: syncopatedtime...

Great stuff thanks. For sharing.
@@sallykohorst8803 Thanks for your kind words and for listening, glad you liked the music!
The 1984 song Footloose was For Dancing, too!
@@d.a.elliottjr.367 I’m sure Carl Fenton’s Orchestra would have done a great job with that song as well 😀 Thanks for listening!
Carl Fenton's Orchestra was one of Brunswick's best. He seemed to disappear by the Depression. I don't care for the lyrics, but the vocalist sounds familiar. An example of Brunswick's early electrical sound.
@@rjtwigg1 I agree on all counts. Gus Haenschen (AKA Carl Fenton) was seriously talented at arranging, conducting, and overall recording and production.
Irving Kaufman- Jack's brother- was the "Vocal Chorus".
Thanks for this great information!
You're welcome! They *did* sound alike.
