If someone had to replace Ace to keep KISS going, Tommy was an excellent choice. LIke he has said, he's not a substitute, he is the lead guitarist of KISS. Tommy has put the hard yards in for many years before he joined the band, he deserves it and is being very humble as well.
it had nothing to do with the lineup change. kiss was in decline in america cause they shit on the hardcore rock fans by releasing dynasty, unmasked, then the elder. i still love kiss to this very day, and always will. theres nothing wrong with moving on, but to have eric, who i love, and that ass tommy thayer in ace and peters makeup is just wrong.
You can't compare Frehlely and Thayer, it's like comparing apples and oranges. In regards to the make up, Kiss is a product used to make money and the spaceman is a trademark . Simple.
Thommy isn't 'in' kiss, he's just an employee paid to imitate the guy he used to lug for. Good on him, he's having a ball and living the dream, but let's be real.... he is simply employed to act and play like someone else. He has no say in anything, the only thing he says is 'yes sir, no sir'.
