"KISS release their BRAND NEW album on Monday (October 5th).
The album, SONIC BOOM, features the killer single Modern Day Delilah, and will be available as a standard CD and an awesome CD/DVD package.
Roadrunner / Loud & Proud caught up with the guys in Detroit as they shot their upcoming video and sat them down for a chat. In the snippet below, Paul and Tommy talk us through the first half of the new album track by track. It's a fantastic insight into what you can expect from Sonic Boom. Check it out!! Tommy deserves it though, he interrupted his employer twice. I loved how Tommy made it all sound like Gene and Paul wrote the album while he knew all the riffs were his :)
.... Paul can't do an interview without putting someone down and putting himself over. I'm a HUGE KISS fan since 98 and for the last 10 years or so he keeps doing this shit in interviews

@@lordeuronymous + I'm not one to say whose a true fan, or not a fan. But I have been listening to Kiss since 76, and I know Paul's personality inside and out. This guy has only liked them since 1998. They have made 3 albums since then, and Ace and Peter left the band around 2001. Ace stayed on with Eric for a tour in Australia, and then Peter came back for the Aerosmith tour. But he's definitely just hating to hate.
I became a kiss fan around May or June of 2006. I live in Oregon and I had no money to go out of state to see them. I had to wait for them to come to Oregon. Then, on November 17th , 2009 they came and I went and I got to say that these youtube videos don't do them justice. It was the best thing I've ever seen in my entire life. By not doing them justice I mean the sound quaility. The first time the pyro went off I nearly crapped myself it was so loud. Kiss I love you.
Great Album By New KISS. I love the old original KISS but am glad they can continue and make new music.
They Hit the lottery in 1996 and are just cashing the check.....Again & Again & Again & Again & Again....

Exactly. Sonic Boom and Monster are the best reviewed KISS albums from both critics and fans since Love Gun aside from Creatures and Revenge.
i got no problem with tommy and eric but dont you agree that if they both got their own characters that it would seem alot better? i mean eric carr was the fox and vinnie vincent was the ankh warrior... eric and tommy having the orginal make up just makes it seem like a tribute band, 2 orginals and 2 imposters...
if they both got their own character it would be sooo cool it just doesnt seem right with them wearing peters and aces make up

I love this record. I really like hearing how Gene and Paul worked together on some and Tommy and Eric gave their input to round out the songs. It's great when the band member's ideas can gel together and I love hearing the stories of how it's done!

IMHO if you dont like sonic boom your not a kiss fan, this is classic back to basics KISS! their best work in decades!! in my heart KISS IS BACK!!!

Look peeps, I love Ace and Peter as much as ANYBODY, and I've been a fan since '76, but Eric and Tommy (like Bruce and Eric Carr, etc.) have earned what they have today. Get off their backs. Any KISS fan worth their salt would tell you that if they weren't good guys they wouldn't be in the band at all.

"Stand" has become one of my favorite of all time KISS songs, only a few from the later eras has entered into the "TOP 20ish" of all time, the other being Psycho Circus. Though I like most everything they've ever done in general.
saw them live 2 days ago, they rocked the house down! If you don't go see them, you are going to regret it !!!
but you gotta remember for people like me (90's kid) i would never have had the opportunity to see KISS if it wasn't for Paul and Gene gettin two great musicians to step in for Ace and Pete.

Why didn't they play these songs live! I listen to bits of this album every day and I never get tired of it! If they played these songs live, it would be totally something else. I love this album, easily one of my top 5 KISS Albums, and these songs deserve to be played live. Same with Monster.
I love it too! At that point (and currently as well), Kiss sells the most tickets by playing the tried and true songs live. It drives me a little crazy, but I understand it. Sonic Boom is a great album, however.
They played at least 3 songs from Sonic Boom live. Modern Day Delilah, Say Yeah, and I'm an Animal.

"never enough" have the same vibe as "nothing but a good time" by posion, even the volculs sound the same
Sonic Boom is a badass rock album, and KISS is a great band....new lineup, old lineup...whatever. Tommy and Eric belong....all the haters can get over it!

If you purchase the album the more you listen -the better it sounds,I bought this cd on the day it came out,and it is really growing on me,really sounds like classic Kiss,and hey KissArmy,it's not a greatest hits package or alive 35!It is brand new classic Kiss! Go fckn buy it!!!

I am 33 dude i have zero memory of Kiss in their heyday but I still prefer to remember them like they were.

You don't see Sonic Boom on shelves because it was limited to Walmart and since it tanked on sales, they replaced it pretty fast. It wasn't a very good album and Monster wasn't any better. My store didn't sell more than maybe 5 copies which is REALLY poor sales for Monster

Yeah i guess. But it was a business decision that had to be made. Almost every KISS product nowadays has the original four faces on it, and now more than ever those faces are instantly recognisable. It was 100% a business decision and it had to be made, it would be illogical to do something ohter than what was done. Some may take it as disrespect, some wont. Thats life. They are both talented musicians and deserve to be in KISS. If they get hate for the sake of continuity so be it
KIss played in Dublin a few months back to a sold out crowd of 12,000 people in an indoor arena. Brought the house down. Tommy is seen as the outsider, not Eric. For some reason people won't warm to his personality. He's a brilliant musican though.

@mabutterman Well. Peter and Ace can't keep it together, so Kiss goes on without them. Now I only like the 70's Kiss. But the reason they keep comin' back is because the fans won't let them go away, so I don't think it's deceptive of them. Look at Skynyrd-Every original member is either dead or not in the group anymore. They've become their own tribute band for Chrissakes. I think their roadies are playing for them now in an attempt to keep it somewhat close to the original lineup. LOL
@oioirock it was gene who is at fault for that man eric,tommy were happy being themself's but gene wanted to give us the old kiss imagine back so in his thinking he thought the fan's would like tommy & eric wearing peter's & ace's makeup to pay homage to them "ace & peter" & try to retain the original look of kiss.They didn't want to disgrace them bro & they were inspired by them to even play music so it make's since they'd want to pay their respect's but as for paul he like

@sirflipper 22 years, my first kiss album was smashes thrashes and hits, turned me on to the older stuff from the 70s. i would have been a fan back in the 70s but i was born in 1979, so i missed it lol, but there are other kiss albums i did not like. i think the Elder was really ok. i met Paul but sure if i saw him now he would have no fucking clue who i am. also i was in front on the farewell tour in 2000, Ace tossed me a towel he used on his face, and i caught Genes empty water bottle

I loved Monster better than Sonic Boom. Sonic Boom has its moments. I thought the band was trying too hard to sound like 70s KISS. Monster was a lot more modern sounding.
@oioirock his best to keep kiss alive & well if i ever meet him i'm going to tell him or them we don't want tommy & eric pretending to be ace or peter's character but create their own character as that was the original thought behind kiss one of many btw whihc was to be themself's & i need to remind them of that.Paul is doing his best but he need's help & gene's lost man he's become a victim of the wealth that came with the music.I hope they open their eye's soon.

Well said dude. Anomaly is a brilliant album. Paul and Gene only know 5th chords. They are lost with anything else. It is embarrassing. Ace was the man in every way.
I am not a big for of ''Sonic Boom'' to be honest. The lyrics are not just symplistic they are just annoyingly dumb. It is almost as if Paul and Gene never finished elementary school. I'd hoped they made something more interesting after 10 years. This is just TO commercial.

@sirflipper really, ive been a kiss fan for over 22 years, met Paul Stanley, i have a big collection of kiss items autographs old records, almost every product they put their name on between 1975- 1996, and i ll be the first to tell you, Sonic Boom is terrible, its a long way from being a good kiss album. one good song, rest of it is shit. if you think its classic kiss you need to listen to the 70s albums really hard lol
