The theme of me trying to connect my controllers correctly. It's so peaceful and beautiful to listen to that I don't even feel that frustrated when my controllers fails to connect
For real. I used to play this game all the time on the Wii (the better console), and my stupid nunchucks wouldn't connect with the Remote, so it took me so long to get it right.
@@PhanTum926 Lmao yeah I’m like Mario is too popular for all these videos to not have that many comments so the popular videos got taken down that is unfortunate
Long story short, nintendo doesn't like their osts on youtube. I could go on a whole rant about how there is so much more they could do rather than just going after random youtubers who upload their osts because they won't do it themselves, but this comment would be way too long.
Here I go listening to this entire OST again... I have to admit it's weird going through the comments and not seeing ones that are several years old anymore since the music had to be reuploaded. It will be interesting to come back when all these comments are as old as the ones from the old OST playlist. Will I still have the same sense of nostalgia and wonder as I do listening to these songs now? I hope so... This music is the closest I can get to feeling like a kid again.
the chord at 0:05 used to scare me SO much as a kid. it beautifully encompasses that lonely sense of exploration that's so prevalent in this game. but for some reason the tone of this theme and the chord's dissonance was so overwhelmingly emotional to me. the diminished fifth feels as unimaginably large as the deepness and vastness of space itself. i didnt know how to process or place it and i always tried to progress into the file select asap. 10 years later that chord is probably the most meaningful thing about the entire game to me... it represents every experience ive had with mario galaxy, condensed into just a few notes
Exactly 15 Years Ago, I played this game for the Very 1st Time. It was an experience I'll never forget. No other game I've played since (not even it's sequel, but came close) was as awesome as this one. Eternally grateful to have experienced it
Each time I boot up the game I usually spend around 15 minutes in the title screen because I just dont want to stop listening to this beautiful song with the beautiful space skybox with the comet observatory in the background. I'm tearing up just typing this out, this game really means the world (or should I say: Galaxy 😉) to me and I'm so glad this was posted on youtube. Thank you. And thank you for spending your time to read this, godbless.
I love cheesy puns, but that aside, I agree, this is one of the best pieces of Video Game Music ever. I always skipped immediately, but now that I am replaying Mario Galaxy, I always want to listen to the whole thing.
Man... after the opening stinger, I love how it sounds so calm and almost somber. It makes you feel warm and calm inside. Sure as hell sounds a lot softer than Galaxy 2's overture. Maybe a little hate, but that one never shuts up, while this one backs away. It lets you be alone in your thoughts. All alone.
Its funny to me that the ost videos get erased, reuploaded and STILL most of the songs get 100k+ views. Just goes to show how many people out there can’t stop listening to the greatest soundtrack ever made. Thank you Mario Galaxy ❤
I remember as a kid I would rarely let the title screen play past the 0:06 mark because I thought the music was sad. Growing up, I realized it's not sad at all. It's calm, peaceful, quiet, and a perfectly fitting overture for Galaxy, a game that features both the beauty and loneliness of space, the fast-paced adventures of Mario and the more laid-back settings of the world. Even if some galaxies or story elements of the game are somber, that's not a bad thing. This game was the first time I ever stopped to appreciate the art of a game, even its more melancholic aspects.
Very nostalgic. "Every hundred years a comet appears in the skies above the Mushroom Kingdom. The comet was so large one year, it filled the skies and sent countless shooting stars raining down. The Toads brought the shooting stars to the castle, where they became a great Power Star. It should have been a very happy time for the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. That was the night of the star festival, held once every hundred years to celebrate the comet."
Damn, listening to this made me feel again like a 10 year old kid, is insane how the brain and memories work and can make you so happy about the past and remember all the good times
I think super Mario Galaxy is better then Super Mario Galaxy 2, as a galaxy game. In galaxy 1 it feels like you’re going through space while in galaxy 2 feels like a normal Mario game that has some space themes and some themes from galaxy 1 but not in space, and I think the music also reflects on that as well.
this brings back so much. I wish I was still 6 years old, playing on my Wii, and just starting off with this. this theme, simply put, is "the beginning"
You can instantly tell the tone of the smg games based on their respective overtures. This one is somber and quiet, whereas the smg2 opening is very upbeat, full, and typical happy Mario music
I remember playing this game for the first time at a friends house. And that was the breaking point. I kept begging my mom to get me a Wii and I eventually did and this was the first game I got for it

This to me is one of the single most nostalgic songs ever created.
For me "To The Gateway"is even more nostalgic, that songs makes me want to cry😢
