Join The Ohio State University Marching Band for its pregame performance before Ohio State faced Michigan on Nov. 26, 2022.Avery Voress was the i-dotter for Script Ohio.
Not enough respect is given to the hard work and dedication these band members go through.. The sharpness and articulation they show is almost indicative of a DCI unit!!
Love the tradition! Don't boo the good sportsmanship! Your rivalry is a great part of Americana and don't take each other for granted. Your rivalry has created something greater than itself--this amazing tradition that the whole country enjoys even if we didn't go to Michigan or Ohio State.
Buddy you obviously don't know the rivalry then.... we will boo and always boo each side hates each other.... btw who else loves watching this poor excuse of a band!? GO BLUE!
I didn't notice this until watching a gopro perspective, but if you closely at the top of the "h" in Script Ohio at 7:08, you can see that 2 trumpet players lose their hats when doing the turn. Then, at 10:18, during the scatter drill after the alma mater, you can see someone in uniform run from the podium to pick them up.
You really have to marvel at the hours of practice it took to get the choreographed precision down so well. I recall on ABC-TV (US), back in the 1960s, that had exclusive rights to NCAA FB games where they would televise the marching bands at halftime. Alas, the networks faded that away as more dollars from advertisers could be got from doing in-studio halftime shows of FB highlights.
And the Michigan Marching Band ain’t a bunch of slouches, either! I’d actually like to see both bands do a combined halftime show like OSU & Iowa did a couple years ago.

Michigan fan here in July getting ready for November because this is what it's all about the greatest rivalry in American sports because Script Ohio is like a prelude to war for any Michigan fan and it will never change
As I understand it, what is now known as Script Ohio was started by MMB in a “nothing fancy” manner with Ohio State expanding on the formation by writing out the word “Ohio” one letter at a time set to music with Ohio State giving credit where due.
I hated the fact that they butchered Script Ohio on the national telecast. The aerial shot was on the wrong side so the text was upside down, and then they CUT TO COMMERCIAL right before dotting the i. Almost seemed intentional... like the one cameraman who got his equipment broke that one year by being in the sousaphone player's face now works in the studio in a lead production capacity and hearing Le Regiment makes him feel some kinda way.
Soooo funny you would mention this as a Michigan fan I absolutely loved the cut to commercial during Script Ohio and I said that was the football gods I've been watching this game for 50 years and never saw that happen
I'm 59 and I've been watching these games since 1970 and I've NEVER seen go to commercial before dotting the i and said to myself this is our day as a Michigan fan
Michigan fan & alum, you band is SOLID. There's not a bad band in the Big Ten but as is the case in football, Michigan and Ohio State stand out the most to me.
Michigans band is, to me, kind of an Ohio State/Wisconsin hybrid. Wisconsins band is high energy and TBDBITL is high precision. Take Wisconsins energy and combine it with TBDBITL’s precision and you get the MMB
@@WickedlyMe328 so I heard the salinity levels in the columbus watersheds reached dangerous levels from all the buckeye tears after Michigan won it all in January. The offbeat of the claps could be due to the time lapse there is with the speed of sound from the band to the audience and the microphone(s). Please note that I did say _could be._
@@bloqk16 more than likely. If you ever hear fan recordings on cheap phones, it sounds all over the place from acoustics, reverb and timing. The horns, drums, and clapping sound like three different songs are being played at once BEFORE the echoing. Sure, you have a lot of folks off beat. In a crowd that size, it's inevitable. But it likely isn't as off to the listener only paying attention to the band in real time than it is via recording that's picking up everything.
Oh buddy, Maryland will also sometimes have guest conductors for the Anthem, and when we had Michigan's conductor come up last year, we were playing super fast.
Same here and I absolutely agree! Fun fact, it was first performed by the Michigan Marching Band in 1932 as a salute to the opponent. It wasn't as impressive as the way OSU's band performs it these days. Kind of how no band charges out and jumps right into the shape of the Block M like Michigan's does. I've seen many bands over the years and Michigan & OSU's are my favorites.
What kind of mace/baton is the drum major using? I haven’t seen any other like (aside from Michigan) and I’ve wondered for a while now. Great job as always!
Both Michigan and Ohio State use the Gray Baton, made by Gray America. You used to be able to order them (I did, and I love mine!), but they have temporarily halted production due to COVID and other factors
