In 1951, George Reeves was cast as Superman/Clark Kent. Steve Reeves was still being featured in bodybuilding shows and championships at that time, and not yet an actor. Steve Reeves began his acting career in 1953, and was not a star until 1957 when he starred in HERCULES in Italy, and then the USA English version was released in 1958,

For years I had read that Steve Reeves' voice was dubbed because it was "too high" or "high pitched," implying that his voice wasn't "masculine" enough. Thanks to this rare video, I now know that the people writing that never actually heard Steve Reeves' voice or were lying about it. Plus, Reeves demonstrates here that he also had talent in comedic acting in addition to playing those heroic characters so well. Small wonder that Arnold Schwarzenegger strove to model his career on the path set by the legendary Steve Reeves.

It was not until the internet came out that you could see how the Old time Bodybuilders did train and what Protein they used and in my hunger for knowledge about how Steve Reeves trained i came across his Book The Classic Physique and it was the complete Opposite to what Joe Weider had been preaching . Steve said Train no more that 3x a week and stay away from Steroids simple as that ,you need Rest to grow and recover . You can get free advice on training from Brook Kubik and Bill Hilburn and the methods do work . For those doubting if he’s natural
I don't believe Reeves took steroids, and here is my logic: in the late 1940s, when Steve was the champion, there were only 2 steroids in existence: testosterone (propionate & suspension) and methyltestosterone. Both drugs are notorious for causing water retention and bloating through their aromatisation to estrogens. And aromatase inhibitors weren't available until 1960 (when Aminoglutethimide was first introduced).
Therefore, looking at how incredibly lean he was, I highly doubt he was on drugs. In addition his last few competitions took place around the late 40’s (though his acting career continued further) while mainstream steroids only started becoming common around the early 60’s. If you still don’t believe me watch Natural hypertrophy’s video about him

This clip is hilarious. I believe Steve Reeves said in an interview that he was in bad shape in this particular scene.

People don't realize he was in the offseason during this. Probably 15% BF. When he cut down to 7% he looked like he did in Hercules. Massive and ripped.
