What’s really funny is that the bugs being poisonous wouldn’t matter because tressym are immune to poison.

@@pikagamergirl16 additionally one of their unique abilities is “poison sense” which allows them to detect whether substances are poisonous by taste, touch, or smell. This would theoretically allow Tara to specifically mess with poisonous bugs in particular and ignore non poisonous ones if they really wanted to mess with Gale.
Gale as a character is just so funny. I was wheezing when he got killed and had an entire spirit projection tell me entirely overcomplicated steps on how to bring him back. Then we went to the arcana tower and he said the wizard was being extra for using poetry to control his machines. You have no place to talk magic man.
To be fair while the process really didn't need to be that complicated, he has GOOD reason to make sure hes revived

I was totally ready to accept that I lost a party member and then boom his contingency plan popped up lol. It makes perfect sense he was a freaking arch mage in water deep before he got spanked by Mystra. Of course he is going to have a back up plan.
I love that spider licking reaction. My favorite, though, is his response when Astarion asks him if he's been enjoying their "walks together" lol. He tries to be nice about it, but he is clearly uncomfortable around Astarion, lol. He makes this little "Errrm" sound that is comedy gold. Brilliant voice acting. Astarion and Gale in the party together is a must for me.
i swear astarion was just saying that for us, "don't you... gale??" absolute 'pet me, haha tricked you' energy
Astarion, Gale and Karlach in a team makes me feel like the 3rd...... more like the 4th wheel.. they are in their own world 😅
omg where is this "walks together" line? had them both in party the whole time and never heard it.
@@PanEtRosa I've heard it on all my playthroughs so far. It's usually around the time we arrive at the blighted village. I think going near there with them both in the party triggers it. It might depend on who else is in the party and if they also have dialogue triggers there. I usually have Lae'zel as my 4th at that point.
in my game when Astarion asks Gale if he enjoys their walks together Gale goes "Sure... in silence 😑"
That line is how you know Gale owns a cat lol
It was hilarious because this character is almost always unfazed in his tone of voice. So to find points where that composure breaks, was a needed richness to the recipe.

That was one of the best lines in the game 😅 especially for such a creepy area with tough encounters it really lightened the mood lol

Tim Downie got distracted by the bookshelf too! I remember someone asking what about Gale resonated with him and he replied "Well first of all books," and then went on a wonderful tangent about all the genres and authors he collects, as well as the fascinating history of some of the authors 😆 It was very Gale haha

Gale is an outrageously underrated character compared to the other companions, doesn't get nearly enough love
I love that line so much, seeing Gale finally being annoyed about something was amazing. Having Astarion and Gale in the party is a gift that just keep on giving. 😂
What a great line. I brought him because I was romancing Gale, but that read made it sound like he was reconsidering- why is he bothering with my spider-licking idiot?

Tim does such an amazing job of showing Gale's intelligence, humour and struggle with what he thinks he needs to be to be accepted and loved. And the grumpy lines are a joy!
Gale is a minty python character who stumbled onto a magic period drama set and declared himself the wizard.
I love the delivery of that line because it's exactly how Gale would tell his cat to stop licking something. It's a line that you can tell he has said many times before with the same level of exasperation.
Yes! The dead spider in the gauntlet of Shar! I laughed so much because it was so quick and forceful like parent to a toddler!
Look at his books! And this skull! Larian actually found and invited a real wizard to play the wizard 😅❤

another very good one is his reaction when he describes his favorite activities with tara but you just thought she's his cat.
The running gag among me and my friends is always :"is gale dead again?" Cause he dies so quickly and we just moved on from trying to help him at this point. Like "Gale" himself: Cant be helped xD
Over time, he’s got stronger for me, I guess I found him a few handy spell and bits of armour, it’s nice to keep him alive longer 😏
@@FelineFurKin yeah, I'm managing him properly in my second playthrough (the first one is stuck in act 3). I've given him the massive AOE spells, summons and ways of escape - he's the one reviving the rest now 😅
@@RPGgemsthis! I don't get how Gale dies all the time for everyone. Just equip him properly and he's the MVP of the battlefield, lol. His position also matters, shouldn't have him right there in the middle of combat and you should pull your own characters away before using his high damage AOE spells. In the end, my druid and Karlach are more often on the brink of dying because they're always the ones getting targeted :D
@@Eagle_Owl2 wizards are not easy at first, I should know, it's my absolute favorite class since the very first D&D edition (yep, I'm THAT old 😅).
Some people just can't handle the complexity of the class, others just don't like that kind of gameplay.
Either way, it ends with an often dead wizard 🤷♀️
@@nimeryaspawnbrd1049 I'm not nearly as long into DnD as you are, but I also like wizards as a class very much, though I always tend to use druids. I'm a simple gal, I love wild shape. Wizards are a close second for me however. And yeah, it comes down to how you use them. They don't do well in the midst of the battlefield, but especially BG3 gives you great and early options to improve Gale's AC and he only becomes more useful as the game progresses. But then I see people getting those defense braces (+2 AC to anyone not wearing armor) and putting them on literally anyone else than Gale, even though anyone else wears armor lol.
The spider licking speech was my favorite 🤣🤣🤣🤣

His portrayal of Gale is so perfect, he’s sarcastic, amused, angry, sometimes reaches the “I am so bloody done with you and your bullshit” point 😂 i love talking to Gale
I swear! Without even looking at the comments, my first thought went to the spider!! 😂
I was shook when we got to the fight with Saravok, and at that time it was the worst and bloodiest area my party had been to. Gale’s comment about the temple of Baal was something like “Let’s finish this unpleasantness, then NEVER speak of it again!” And he meant it! Back at camp he was the only one who didn’t make a comment about that nastiness, always a man of his word 😂😂
I've heard people say that you can tell Gale has a cat because that's exactly how you'd talk to your cat if it's doing some dumb shit again and I love it 😂

When we were crouching to sneak in. Gale told my character "not this again." I laughed so hard. 😂 definitely wasnt expecting him to complain about crouching.
Haha yeah. Sometimes he'll say something like "you know an invisibility spell will do just fine" when sneaking. His poor wizard knees can't crouch lol.
ahhh in the first play through i ever did and finished a couple days ago, gale was who i romanced. i’d include my favorite line but i don’t want to spoil for those who haven’t gotten close to him yet. he’s an absolutely wonderful character, i adore that funky lil wizard 💕

I love all the VAs for this. They really enjoy their characters and really enjoy how much everyone else does also,real treats.
Garthy and Jack's relationship and the healing nature of it was one of the highlights of this campaign. It was so organic - Jack being the member of the party with the most self-imposed punishment and guilt, and Garthy being dedicated to helping others and giving them whatever they need - and incredibly wholesome.

Gale is very flippant, it's a huge part of why I like him as a character. He's taking the whole tadpole thing in stride. An admirable quality. No need crying over spilled milk and all that.
Also his insatiable greed for magical power. Big mood. I feel that. What, I'm supposed to NOT open the cursed book of forbidden magic? Please, it's clearly forbidden because it's freaking wicked and awesome and I must touch it.
