      Does brackish water yard flooding kill plants in FL yards? I am on my third Papaya and think the last Aug storm killed my Green Dreams one. I also have a lemon tree that’s base of trunk is turning white.

    I actually miss my Jelly or Pindo Palm ! Had it for more than 10 yrs till I removed it to install a more shade providing tree.

    I understand it if you grow fruit, but why else would anyone want to live in that climate ?

      You trade 4-4.5 months of oppressive heat and humidity for a mild winter (daytime temps in the 60s-70s is not unusual in January) along with beautiful late fall and early Spring. Also the ability to grow food crops year round. The other places in the continental US where this is true would be the Southwest, but the tropicals don’t do as well there.
