    Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
    * Fan Cleaning Techniques:

    Hello! Your video helped me repair my x201. The fan was $10, took two weeks from china, install was a snap, and she's cool as a cucumber now. Went ahead and maxed the ram and a fresh install on a new ssd, and this little tank is like a new machine. Thanks again!!

    thanks for this video -- very helpful. I noticed that you didn't replace the thermal grease on one chip when you reassembled. When I removed the heatsink / fan assembly all 3 chips had thermal grease on them.

      You do not need to because there is thermal pad there :)

    Thanks for video new fan replaced in my x201. I need to invest in anti static gloves cause wearing none is risky but everything is working no boot errors.

    The Lenovo hardware maintenance manual is a big help, here is the current link to the relevant section for an X200 download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y6632_03.pdf#page=109&zoom=auto,-13,333
    This video would have been even better if it had been shot the other way up.
    The Lenovo manual emphasizes the sensitivity of some of the systemboard components, and the importance of antenna cable management.
    This video helped me identify things from the Lenovo hardware maintenance guide which I didn't actually need to do (full removal of LCD, removal of a screw near the power port which is partly obscured by the LCD).

    if you only want to clean the fan is it really necessary to dismantle the whole laptop...

      Not necessarily, but after several years of use the thermal paste could definitely use a replacement, and that is something you need to take everything apart to access.

    I ran a lenovo Diagnostics on my X220. Everything checked out except the Fan test. It read "Fan unavailable." In other words it's like the system could not detect or see the fan. But I can feel air coming outta the vents.
    Is there a problem with the fan that it is seen as unavailable?

    Muito bem construído, mas bem mau projetado, para vc conseguir trocar um cooler, tem que desmontar o note, praticamente até a última peça, isso é péssimo!

    Thank you for this video. I was wondering if you might know of a resource that provides written and photo instructions for how to do this procedure? I have looked everywhere I could think of and since I am wanting to do the procedure on the computer that I use, I can't play a video while doing the work. If you don't know of anything, that's okay, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask! :-) Thank you anyway.

      Es pasta térmica que se pone sobre el procesador. Después de unos años la pasta vieja ya no transfiere igual el calor entonces hay que reemplazarla con una capa nueva.
