4:20 : Seiko's German website calls it a "stainless steel rotating bezel with a titanium carbide insert". Oh boy... here I was trying to wean myself off dive-watches and then this one comes along, looking so much better on video than in any pictures I've seen. I bet it looks even better in person. Must ... resist.... must ... resist..
Sold my SPB143 and never looked back. This showed up and solved my problems with the SPB143. No regrets. Looks good on rubber, nato straps and steel bracelets. The dial is on another level.
@@loe7717 Yup still happy 😊, maybe just wishing the case was a bit slimmer. For the color it’s a personal preference. Both looks good but I prefer more the black dial than the Grey SPB143.
I have this watch on a zuludiver rubber strap and I wear it daily. Till today I still cant tell the exact colour of the dial but its warm tones and how it looks on different lighting really makes it the perfect one watch for me!
I have never tried this model on, since I have my black bay black. But wow, Seiko knocked it our of the park. Maybe I might rethink my Seiko’s in my current line up lol
A bit late to the party here. I've just picked up the 239 this afternoon from my local AD, managed to get £120 off the RRP too. What an incredible looking watch, feels awesome on the wrist. Looks lovely next to my Willard too. Thanks for contributing toward tipping me over the edge with this one Rob, nice to own a nod to the 1965 original.
Definitely a nice watch, though I prefer the older SPB147 with the chocolate brown dial. That one's also available for a decent discount now that it's been discontinued.
I love, love, love the gilt without the gilt handset and indice frames. Great combo. Retro without going over the top. I think I'm going to pick one up.
Finally, thanks for the great review. I read some place that you're supposed to tuck the excess strap back behind itself, instead of tucking it through the loop again. Or skip the buckle on the way up, and tuck it down.
Nice. But I don't know if $1000+ nice. I built a custom 62 mas in a Heimdahlr 62 mas replica case, bezel, and sapphire crystal. I used a yellow mil sub dial with sword hands. NH35 with the black date ring. I am + or minus 2 seconds per day depending if I take it off at night.
Yes Sir... J means Japanese Production. K means Malaysia.. Not sure what Chinas code is.. But most are made in Japan or Malaysia. I always buy the J models...they cost a little more but when you go to sell it you will sell a J model faster and for a better price... Usually.
They should not produce these wonderful watches in bulk, I know Seiko does not compromise with core quality, just limit the numbers like 5 watches yearly. Love Seiko.
The Seichu straps are pretty amazing. They are bulky, but they are made to dive. The texture and look is beautiful. I wear the dark one on my Slim Turtle. The watch was running pretty fast, so I wound it about 80 times. I then let the watch run all the way day before winding it and wearing it again. The watch is now running +2 seconds a day-rock solid. If it runs fast, wind it up and run it down. It may solve some accuracy issues.
Indeed it is the kind of movement that we already find in watches from 100 to 200 Dollars (microbrand or Chinese productions) So nothing justifies this high price .. steel is not more expensive for Seiko than for the others So it is a watch for those who want to lose money
$1,000 for a Seiko mid-range quality? I rather get a used Tudor for $2,000 to $3,000. Nice colors on dial and bezel, but you need no end-link metal bracelets.
Not about the brand cache. My seiko gets more wrist time vs my 3 BB's combined. They got the design right and many are choosing to wear this over BB or Subs.
Looks very nice. Shouldve came with beacelet by default. If i had this i would cut the underside of that strap to make it single pass through. Kinda of a cheaper alt to bb58
"You dont need to change your watch, you just need to change your strap". If i could only live by those words...
This looks sick. Love it! Can't have them all, but I think Seiko did a great job with all the different colorways of the 62MAS reissues.
What a beauty. Such an aesthetically balanced watch.

Resistance is futile....
I pulled the lever, 6 mos later (no remorse).
Only get it if u need it, not if you want it.
Love it on the fabric strap / NATO style. Absolutely stunning
It’s a strap monster.

Still happy? I was supposed to buy 143 but it seems boring, I like this 239 very much.

Seiko have nailed it again with this one imho. Would be looking for a steel bracelet for that price though.
It would have come with the terribly bad endlinks though
@@fd6661 True! 😂
@@fd6661 the spb bracelet is actually very good... unfortunately the SPB 239 comes with straps only

So true and I love when it’s in the darker grey nearly black look, very charming.
these 2 releases are friggin beautiful.
I have never tried this model on, since I have my black bay black. But wow, Seiko knocked it our of the park. Maybe I might rethink my Seiko’s in my current line up lol
I would say this and the black bay can’t stay in one collection.

This looks so good. I'm almost tempted to sell my spb149 for this. But i also really like the blue-grey dial.
Walked into my AD today with no intention of buying anything ... and walked out with this. So good man. Great video.
Walking into an AD with no intensions. None. As we all do. Yeah.
Definitely a nice watch, though I prefer the older SPB147 with the chocolate brown dial. That one's also available for a decent discount now that it's been discontinued.
gorgeous piece...especially the case!
Another great video by Random Rob. Thanks.

Yes, it is a perfect combo with the subtle sunburst dial.
Love this colorway!
Finally, thanks for the great review.
I read some place that you're supposed to tuck the excess strap back behind itself, instead of tucking it through the loop again. Or skip the buckle on the way up, and tuck it down.
@RandomRob; The bezel is titanium coated steel. The same as the previous generation.
Hi Rob,7.25 inches are around 18.5 cm.
Regards Michael from Germany😉
I’ve seen Artem straps on these especially the grey spb143 they look great
Slick looking Seiko.
Offfff thats so nice.
I'm buying it. That's all you need to know!!
Where can I find one?
Why the drilled lugs though? Aren't double shoulder spring bars easy enough to deal with? The drilled lugs cheapen the look.
They nailed dial/bezel color combo! Strap looks way to stiff, agree with Rob on changing it out. Great review Rob!
It’s a special nato strap, different than any I have. It looks good but I would always choose a bracelet.
That nlyon is Seichu strap, it cost over $130 in Malaysia 2023

Looks great on that cream/brown strap ;)
Hope they learn to make solid bezel clicks
I had the spb053 with very soft weak bezel clicks ..
I LOVE this color combo - Seiko really nailed it.
Beautiful… Except for the white date wheel.
Love these watches. Would Love a Willard also
Could justify having one of each
A question (for people who knows): This reference is SPB239J1. Does the J1 mean that it is produced and assembled in Japan?
Yes Sir... J means Japanese Production. K means Malaysia.. Not sure what Chinas code is.. But most are made in Japan or Malaysia. I always buy the J models...they cost a little more but when you go to sell it you will sell a J model faster and for a better price... Usually.
@@fresatx Thanks a lot!
That is great, do they do a non creamy marker/non gilt version, like the spb143?
Where did you get these straps?
Any 40mm seiko recomendations? Had a Samurai before but it was just too bulky for me
Alpinist? Very wearable and equally as capable.
They should not produce these wonderful watches in bulk, I know Seiko does not compromise with core quality, just limit the numbers like 5 watches yearly. Love Seiko.
Are velcro straps still around? Always a perfect fit
I wonder if you can purchase those straps separately?
Oh yes….. for a hefty price
Heya :) Wanted to ask you this for a while. What camera / lenses do you use for your videos? The close ups have so much detail....
Love another Seiko vid
Bellissimo! 😍

Strap monster
i just want the nato
The gold hands would of been better on this one the 147
successs....
I'd prefer a bracelet over that strap.
Too expensive for the 6r movement. I think an Oris Aquis would be a better value for the price especially considering the Oris bracelet.
Indeed it is the kind of movement that we already find in watches from 100 to 200 Dollars (microbrand or Chinese productions)

@@gusthesailor4885 that is incorrect. Those use the nh35 movement. Cheapest you could get the 6r movement was in a sarb.

@@cy4624 Thanks. I will reconsider it one day. I had many Seikos. I had a Seiko Aplinist and Sarb.
@@user-pi6vz5hr3c the sarb is great piece. Gets much love as my DJ. I didn't get the orig. Alpinst when it was reasonable and regret it.
@@cy4624 My favorite colors are green and blue. The green Aplinist is hard to mix and match straps.
I sold my Sub in December and now wear this in its place. Absolutely zero regrets.
If only these newer Seikos didn't have the horrible Prospex Logo on the dial!!

get another model for that, these straps are very well made and not at all run of the mill as they may look on first glance
The strap is too long
tudor killer
No leather, please.
Looks like the SBDC105 to me :/....anyone else? or am I missing something
I like the SPB147 better.
Love the watch. 6R35 is a bit of a letdown.
For the price, the 6R35 is perfect.
@@AK-jl5xt super unreliable movement. The most variation I have found based on position of the watch also.
The straps toooo thiiiiiiiiiick.
It looks nice but to not have a bezel line up perfectly on a $/€1000 watch is a criminal deed
To each their own, to me it looks boring and uninspired. Would much rather go towards Zodiac in this price range.
Much agreed got a oris aquis for 1200 this is a 👎👎
Nah, Seiko, for me. This model is sublime despite its flaws. Great for daily wear.
it looks like all the other seiko divers.....nothing special!!
It doesn't look like an SKX007 or Tuna or MM300 or Sumo to me. Look harder.
