X games did absolutely zero advertising for x this year
Considering they haven't allowed fans to attend 3 years straight and you have to pay to watch it, no reason to advertise. It's a lose lose strategy so save the ad budget.
Thats bullshit. I dont have cable. But im pretty unimpressed with the presentation and reprsentation. Still have my dvr box with 2006 when pastrana landed the double. And a local news story with me in it. But cant watch them.
Pay to watch it? They put it on RUclips for free. RUclips algorithm let's the people know it's going on

Hosting x games at Axels compound with no fans is literally killing the sport… plus zero advertising leading up to this.
This year's ratings will be the worst since 1999.

I'd say more accurate is its changing the sport. Now they don't have to worry about a location that can handle that many people. Being a private event like that is probably much less legal hassle. You don't have to advertise at all either. Put it on youtube and build an audience and youtube will make sure its in people's faces. Idk I'd really love to go to an x games and didn't have plans to I feel sad I wouldn't have a chance to meet certain riders. I'm conflicted lol
@@mctuble I think there's definitely value in the RUclips uploads for building an audience, but I saw nothing promoting the event. The only reason I was able to catch it this year is because I'm a religious FMX fan since I was a kid.
There's definitely room to hold events in person with the success of Nitro Circus and Red Bulk X Fighters. I hope for the sake of the riders we can get something more energetic for next year, it's a bit depressing seeing how there's almost no one getting hyped for these insane runs
X games used to be can’t miss TV growing up, huge crowds, tons of coverage. Didn’t even know it was going on until I came across this video, sad to see the decline

xgames used to be such a huge week back in the 00's. I miss it every year due to lack of coverage and advertising. The guy did a front flip over a 110 with no ramp assistance and it is like...ok... this should have won him 3 golds just for that.

I keep laughing at the Monster Energy girls just existing at the event for no real reason.
I watched X Games on TV live in 2002 when Metz did the first backflip. It's quite hard to wrap my head around the fact that someone did a ROCK SOLID DURING A BACKFLIP and it didn't even win. The progression is amazing. I do miss these events being in a big arena/stadium with an audience
That was my favorite trick. Letting go of the bike completely when you are upside down and the bike is upside down above you... that takes true guts
Dude does a backflip seat grab and the announcer says "keeping it safe" one thing goes wrong and your bed ridden for a year.
Or bed ridden for life. Or dead.
X games should be in the Staple Center with a packed house bringing the energy back! Crowds make the sport. These guys are insane and I wish it was how it used to be.
have you ever seen nitro circus? there you can see the evolution of this sport, and more safety, you should apply that to xgames, please don't let this sport die
The real trick big tricks are done in nitro world games cuz more popular and better safety. FMX only get one chance and don’t want to blow it at x games
X-Games needs to stay on dirt. The way it's supposed to be.

So crazy that the rock solid flip is just a blah trip now. I remember mad Mike doing the first dirt to dirt back flip. Or Carey Hart breaking his back trying a flip
Why is there no arena with people? Also, it's kinda sad that just 10-15 years ago we would go crazy for someone doing a backflip, now all this crazy stuff is just like... ehhh...
In-person attendance was consistently going down for X-Games each year. Even before Covid, interest in X-Games just isn't what it used to be. Though it may get a fair bit of views (10-100s, but less than 1 million usually) they're just not going to be selling out arenas anymore. Extreme sports are far more interesting than traditional team sports in my opinion, but the popularity just isn't increasing with the level of progression we've seen over the years.
Problem is that back in the day it was super hard to catch up what new progression was being done until x games arrived every year. I remember watching it on t.v. super late at night, since social media did not exist. Now everything can be seen in a highlight on youtube, even new tricks so that takes out the emotion of it...

The bad thing these tricks have come so far that the craziest tricks are routine now. They have taken it to the highest level and it all looks simple. I remember when a standard back flip or a kod was insane. Now there nothing tricks. I think freestyle moto has already peaked . It's all been done
I agree that's why I think real fans are drawn to real moto and quarter pipe. I'm a fan of best trick don't get me wrong but you're right.
The backflip body varial last year was really sweet, but it looks like we might be getting close to the edge of how much innovation is left to be done on standard ramps with dirt landings. Heck, it's hard enough for the Nitro Circus guys to bring out NBDs on FMX, and they have mechanical ramps and resi landings.
With the exception of the backflip body varial, a frontflip with minimal variation has been what gets gold at X games for YEARS now.
Yeah until Axell and Pat bring the upright 360s from the 110s to the big bikes or someone does consistent cork 7s it will be about the same.
Definitely agree, seems like the sport kind of hit a limit after everyone got their fronts and doubles consistently. That body varial last year from Rinaldo and his backflip Cali roll (?) we're the first new tricks I remember seeing at X Games since Pagés.
@@ihatevott Again, the future seems to be in what Nitro is doing with the front-flip ramps, larger ramps in general, and resi landings. We've already seen a double front flip and a front flip rock-solid in their best-trick competitions. But when you're talking about FMX innovation, the very real risk of serious injury or even death is always there. Bruce Cook tried to hit the first ever double frontflip at a Nitro Circus show, and ended up paralyzed for life.
@@krolik1157 I agree completely. I think X Games has put an artificial limit on what can be brought to competitions with the dirt landings and their selection of ramps. This year the 110 seemed like the odd ball and almost no one was using the half pipe. Nitro is definitely where the innovation is coming from but I don't see how much of it can transfer to X Games with the current format.
The ideal place for FMX contests would be Pastranaland, maybe we can get a triple flip in contest.
I feel sorry for these guys. I know they are doing amazing things but I can't even pretend to care. There was a time when this stuff was huge but now...even the announcer sounds like he just woke up.
A sport that has definently plateaued
The sports gotten stale. Same tricks every year, no innovation. I miss the Early to mid 2000s. Just not the same as the Pastrana/Deegan/Adams days.
Watching the riders pump up the "crowd" is different to me now

To the editor: Constructive criticism, tighten up the way you choose to tell the story. As viewer, the highlights are all over the place. Maybe organize them in placing order, something like that. Thanks for posting though.
Next year it's gonna be fantastic to have a stand with people at Slay's coumpond
They should add a safety mat on the landing like nitro. It would allow these guys to take a bit more risk and continue innovating with less risk of death or great bodily harm. What these guys are doing now is so extreme, the sport cannot be taken to a new level without serious injury. Add a mat and allow these guys some forgiveness if they mess up.
That's why the 00s we're so exciting. We were able to watch the sport evolve and grow because the tricks weren't as dangerous. Sure you didn't wanna to see a fall, but they were usually able to walk it off. With these new tricks, there is no walking it off and anything crazier is almost not even fun to watch knowing how dangerous it's getting.
All I can say… there’s a whole lotta “full commitment.”

They've been doing combo flips for years. Indian Air/heelclickers or superman clickers. And it's been years since they've started throwing tricks into double flips and they're just starting to get the extensions down

Do they even try with the X games anymore, the announcers lame , 0 advertising, no crowd. When I watch World Cup downhill MTB it’s exciting and people are pumped. This is just boring :(.

Wow. The once great X Games reduced to a crowd of 20 with no live viewers. This is disgusting. What happened to this great sport? This was the most disappointing and saddening thing I have seen this year. If this is the future of the X Games...Please just stop doing it because society doesn't deserve it.
Seem's like it's down to who is more adhd and lacks survival instinct is the winner. It's the reason I got out of competition's for mtbs because my competitors basically had death wishes and didn't care about how all the broken bones are going to feel when you get old. ADHD made robot riders only focused on landing the trick. Seen guy's only stop because they were unconscious.
I totally understand the talent and the risk doing all these flip tricks....but to me it's boring to watch. I'd rather watch best whip or quarter pipe

A no handed double backflip>a front lip no footer. All day everyday. The no handed execution was far better than the no footer. Difficulty wise a front flip is quite harder BUT the execution is a big part too. Josh got robbed by 🤡 judges. Just because it’s the only front flip trick doesn’t make it the best trick

I didn’t even know X Games was even happening. You guys have completely ruined what use to be a ridiculously popular event. Definitely need a new promoter and bring the money back. Axel’s property, really, this used to sellout stadiums.just sad to see all that talent still killing it and you guys wasting it.
I agree it sucks it’s closed to public but I think the riders and track builder like this a lot more than a stadium

All the work pastrana and deegan and co put into this sport has been ruined completely any rider who has hurt himself or even died i wanna apologise because its all been for nothing this sport was huge and filled stadiums now we have 20 men in axels back garden xgames needs to stop and let someone who knows how to put on a show take over
