I thought the avalanche theory had already been dismissed because no avalanches were known to have occurred. Now there is a blizzard no one knew about? Why would people not know of an avalanche at the time but this is suddenly "revealed" in 2020?
@@davemccombs Do katabatic winds bite tongues and remove people's eyes? The rescue party was pretty clear about not finding any evidence for an avalanche. I mean look at that mountain top, it is pretty flat. How can an avalanche happen there?
@@campbellstomato As a hiker, it wasn’t an avalanche! No fucking way! I’ve hiked in Colorado ALONE and the terrain is worse than where the tent and bodies were found. They did recover some shots. But you can't nearly see anything, or at least what is publicly released doesn't show much. But yes, it was last attempt to communicate with the outside word what happened.
it was not an avalanche, the 2019-2020 investigation stated at the outset they were only going to look at weather causations. The real cause will never be known.
After all the reading and research I think there was notes By the group,.. the KGB or military took them I don't think will ever know I like your comment thank you..
Let's clear up the myth that the mountain is named Dead mountain because of something spooky, or paranormal or sinister. Nope. It's simply named Dead mountain because nothing grows up there. That's it, plain and simple. Nothing spooky or paranormal or sinister. Other than that. I am so fascinated with this story. More so than any other case/story. And have done a lot of research on this story and case. Every theory on what happened has holes somewhere in it and shoots that theory down. Which is what makes this case so fascinating and mysterious. At this point i'm open to something paranormal. Once they were about 50-100 yards from their tent, they were as good as dead. Even if they would have immediately turned around and tried to come back after walking 100 yards from their tent, they more than likely wouldn't have made it back. After 50-100 yards there is nothing they could have done to have stayed alive. Not in those conditions and with what little they had. After running through all the scenarios of what could have happened the most plausible one I could come up with was the infrasound theory. But even that doesn't make sense. There is no way that infrasound would cause that same reaction in all of them. Being that of just cutting the tent open and running like that. Odds of that are bascially slim to more zero.
About the last paragraph, what if the effect happened on one or two of them only? one person could have easily opened their tent from the inside, and even then the infrasound could have had an effect on more than one person. And then maybe once outside the infrasound stopped or all of the unaffected helped to stop the people who opened the tents. Seeing that they have no shelter they walked in the single line that their footprints show they did. Sorry if im not making much sense - my main point was that the infrasound did not have to affect all of them, for one person opened one tent from the inside by themselves. anyways much like in your case, this story is super fascinating. i almost feel bad that i have such an obsession with this case lol

Nope and one of the heavy facts are dubininas case. her tongue was ripped but she had blood in her stomatch. means it was ripped while alive then later she got turned face down into the river. if that would have happned before the blood would ve just left the mouth into the river and no simple human with hands can rip a tongue out and it wasnt bitten!
@@snois2 I would think you would succumb to hypothermia quickly in the cold, with the winds, and no coats or shoes. It would only take minutes in those conditions. Also, keep in mind that there is absolutely no light. I read someplace that there was a quarter moon on that date, but it did not rise until 3AM. With out any light, it would be very disorienting, and perhaps they recognized they couldn't find their way back.
The new official explanation doesn't explain the missing eyes, lips, and tongue on the buried hikers. I was thinking birds having a snack but if they were buried that night during a blizzard then that wouldn't be true.
considering the bodies were found months after they died it would be perfectly reasonable for putrefaction and/or decomposition to have at least partially occured even if it were slowed due to the conditions in the area and exposed organs such as the eyes abd tongue would be amoung the first to decompose.
The avalanche theory doesn´t really convince me. First of all as I read the area is not steep enough for an avalanche to occur. Second: why are skis outside the tent in an upright position when a supposed avalanche had hit them? I recently read a book about a Cold War spying operation gone wrong. That was way more convincing.
Spooky facts: The mountain's name comes, as said, from the (Fenno-Ugrian) Mansi words "Kholat Syakhl" which means "Dead Mountain". There is also a hill, not too far away, near Archangelsk, named "Kholmogory", from "Cemetary Hill" in a related, Permian language (cf Finnish "Kuolema" = Death). Probably a holy burying place, for this people. One of the women in the expedition was Zinaida Alekseevna Kolmogorova (!). The abandoned theory, that some angered Mansi people wanted to punish the intruders to a holy place (mentioned in the vid), was maybe not too farfetched. But the injuries were way too sick, to have been inflicted by human beings. And what about those lights in the sky...
They called it dead mountain because they cant grow good crops and animals arent usually there so they called it that because for food purposes it isnt the best area
Okay wait...it’s still cold out there sleeping in a tent in the snow. There is no reason for any of them to have been in any state of undress. They should all have been bundled up. I’ve never slept out in the snow but even camping in coldish weather we are wearing thick, heavy clothing. I really feel there was some kind of frightening attack.
When you sleep, your sleeping bag is keeping you warm, putting warm clothes while sleeping will ended up making you sweat and then cold. So if they were sleeping it’s normal that they would be in there underwear
When people experience get extreme hypothermia, they sometimes engage in what's called paradoxical undressing. Basically, in rare cases, people experiencing hypothermia suddenly feel hot and start removing clothing - which obviously speeds up the hypothermia process and they eventually die. That's one of the theories for the lack of clothing. Also, like someone mentioned, they wouldn't necessarily need clothing in the sleeping bag, depending on how effective the sleeping bags actually were at trapping heat.
The evidence IMO points to them being forced out of the tent and made to march down to the encampment. Someone murdered them. The undisturbed items, leaving vital items behind...some of the hikers with bruises and abrasions that would happen during a fight. Some hikers had U-shaped bruises that would be made with the butt of a gun.
@@ZombieRommel The tent was cut from the inside. So that doesn't make sense. I think it was the faulty chimney that they had made themselves that caught fire inside the tent. They were forced out by the smoke.
The stove was found disassembled in the tent. There were also no signs of smoke or fire. The "tent being cut from the inside" idea exists because a Russian seamstress made a comment in passing during the investigation. This has never been confirmed 100%.
@Dirk Diggler They are called the Mansi. They have a neighbouring "sister people" called the Khanty. Both people have languages related to Hungarian, and (more distantly) to Finnish. Shamanism is still alive, to a degree, among Mansi and Khanty.
No shit. "These wounds are inconsistant with a psychotic breakdown under extreme circumstances. Yetis from outer space is the only logical conclusion".
Fortunately the events (and theories) are well documented online. Even though there is no conclusive answer as to what happened (if you do not believe the Russian official statement of it being an avalanche), there is fruitful ground to keep you intrigued for ages. Happy to hear you enjoy my videos, take care!
It's still unknown what the lights in the sky meant. Had they been the residues of meteor impact, there would possibly have been loud explosive noises. Something caused a panic flight from the tent. As some members were inside the tent when collective panic possessed them, there was no hope of group cohesion in the darkness.
I really believe that those lights had to do with there deaths. There injuries were horrific. What person or animal causes injuries like that? It had to be the lights. It was some type of heated force or radiation. Orbs. It wasn't no military weapon. It had to be something unusual. Something otherworldly. Yes it sounds crazy why do u think they tried to keep it confidential for so long. They didn't want it to get out. I read somewhere that they found peep holes on the tent. Supposedly 2 men were already outside of the tent either a call from nature or they were trying to photograph the lights. In the recovered images some do look like orbs falling from sky. Heading right to there camp. I know my theory sounds crazy but all possibilities are possible. Especially due to the circumstances. Really eerie and terrifying!
".........crawl to their tents in their own tracks.." After an avalanche? There are no tracks after an avalanche ! And why the skies stand still wihtout any angle in 90° position around the tent. After an avalanche? I guess there is no real warning time when a snow slap hits the tent. So if this happens, the incident was over and ther was no reason to spread out so whide. At least far from the tent and the live saving equipment.
@@JamieTransNyc and a storm swept up, and the lights drew them to the forest. They photographed a buddy, all blurry, and it just looks like yeti. @@the_lost_navigator I am fairly sure both the Dyatlov party and the search parties all had skies. I could be wrong, but I think the Dyatlov party had skies stuck in the snow outside their tent(s). Wow look at for an answer so hard the cross in skis by the tent in the original photo never moved Inch.the 1st responders who said no it was Not and avalanche plus hundreds of other experts This is just one other many hundreds of theories..🧟♀️
Probably Carbon monoxide poisoning during a storm. Some one was cognizant enough to cut the tent open, but for many they had already suffered brain damage. Because of their confused state and the storm they tried to shelter in the forest. They got separated, one group huddled in the ravine... As for the disfiguring injuries, lips, tongue and eyes missing, that would be foxes after they died, then the snow on the side of the ravine that those four sheltered in collapsed and caused crush injuries to a two of the bodies..... An avalanche would have left obvious clues, so there was no avalanche.
Katabatic wind makes more sense. The strong and sudden wind damages their tent. They only way to leave it is to cut it from inside. But it also does not explain everything. They escaped the tent, went to woods, starred fire. Why split? Why nor try to keep the fire big, stay close to fire?
Every other version of this Iv seen of this incident claimed the slope they were on was too shallow for an avalanche, plus if it was an avalanche why was the ten exposed. Wouldn't it have been buried?

The theory I heard was that this was a place where the Soviets had testing for the military and didn’t want visitors and so they were murdered, blaming it on the Yetti. A mythical big foot like creature that was said to eat the tongue of it’s victims. Nothing sounds that believable to me.
Wouldn’t they have removed their cameras or at least the film if it were the army? Not like the army could tell what’s on the film so they would have at least taken the film.
@@JamieTransNyc They at some point started back up the hill i think.,., prob to get back into the tent or get supplies. If the KGB was there that would not have been happning,
Apparently, he suffered from sciatica and it was acting up on the way to the wilderness so he made a wise choice and never set out with the rest from the final outpost/camp.
and also, in the last photo where tourists are digging a place for a tent, this is not at all the slope of mountain 1079, this is the place exactly below where they found the flooring!
Not necessarily,if it were crows or ravens that fed on the bodies the first parts that they would go for would be the eyes and soft tissue areas of the face, including the tongue.
I've seen lambs with eyes and tongues missing from hawks and the like. It did not state in the autopsy that the tongue was cut off, just that a part the tongue was missing. My immediate thought was birds.
It is possible that that stuff happened during the tumble down the ravine. People often lose an eye(s) or bite of part of their tongue in a car accident. I would imagine the same kinds of things can happen to people tumbling down a ravine.
Not necessarily birds will take the eyes first but most small scavenger would have a hard time after body's froze solid body's can be exposed covered and exposed again some time even the course of a day let alone monthes
The Dyatlov Pass incident happened in the year of my birth (I am Canadian) but I can scarcely recall a time when I had not heard about it. I tend to devour every scrap I can find about the event but this video has provided the most captivating collection of data I recall ever coming across. An avalanche seems perfectly reasonable. Most people run from the colossal mound of snow coming at them in such a situation, but the air compressed by the event can do so much incredible damage before the actual snow strikes victims. Considering the volume of sound created by an avalanche, and how strangely long it takes for an avalanche to run its course, this explanation makes perfect sense. Thanks for this great video!
There was no sign of any avalanche when rescue team found tent. If there was, it would be documented and no one would be talking about this tragedy today.
I think most of the evidence can be attributed to extreme cold. When a person starts to freeze they cannot think rationally, cannot speak, even their eyes will stiffen up to the point that it's easier to move their head left/right than move their eyes. A freezing person will feel warm, very warm, to the point of removing clothing. The feet will feel like a big spike is being driven through them to start with, believe me it's painful, been there done that. The fact they got a fire going is remarkable, try striking a match or flicking a Bic when your fingers are almost frozen...It's natural that theories will abound in such cases but I think it comes down to one thing ... cold.
My biggest problem with the avalanche theory is that there were supposedly footprints found --- actually this is really a major problem I have with the investigation. The footprints showed the hikers being barefoot or wearing socks. My question is that - An avalanche or even normal snow would have /should have buried or covered those footprints. The investigation came a good 2 full weeks after they were supposed to have returned. If you're telling me footprints would not have been buried by snow/wind/weather forces in 15-20 days...then I challenge that.
They begin to searched after 1 month??? N is it possible to find a barefoot footprints after they've been missing for 1 month in a heavy snowstorm area??is like they were already know where to find them...some of them even buried for 4 meters underground
The katabatic winds of the mountain may have squashed the tent to suffocation, forcing them to cut the tent from inside. Crushing impact can only be explained by collapsing snow + ice. The rest (missing eye and tongue etc) are different stages of post mortem decomposition. Natural disaster tragedy; they should not have tented beneath an exposed valley.
This is the second video I have seen on this that talks about the lack of foot prints in the area. Does anyone think their would be foot prints in the snow a month after they went missing? Also, no explanation on how they found the second group that was supposedly buried deep in the snow...
For me this mystery was 'solved' by a book published in 2013. Written by an American, Donnie Eichar, and entitled 'Dead Mountain', it describes the author's travels to Russia to investigate this incident. Like many others, he fails to find a satisfactory answer until a colleague notices the terrain around the campsite. The conclusion is that the high winds barrelling over the smooth summit created infra-sound, a sound below the level of hearing, which can induce panic and hallucinations. In the book the author dismisses the avalanche theory because the slope of the summit was too shallow.
This is the Mystery Deaths of the nine students of the Dyatlov Expedition. Since the start of this mystery in 1959 and my many later years of looking into this mystery, it has been a puzzle worth trying to solve using Logic! It is of note that this year (2019) the Russian authorities have opened up investigations into this case. Here is my theory as to what may have taken place. I have thought of the unfortunate and unexplained death of these students for some time and as Spock stated in Star Trek - quoted from Sherlock Holmes “… when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth…” I originally thought that it may have been the Russian army with concussion bombs that were dropped on them by accident. The army had used this location for secret tests. Some mention that the army secretly arrived at the crime scene a week before the rescuers found the bodies. This could answer a few of the mysteries, but not all! The reports stated that the hikers were on a vacation and were there to ski. I had previously stated that they were there as undercover investigating reporters to obtain more information to why numerous Mansi Hunters the year prior had disappeared and to try and prove that this disappearance had something to do with the Yeti. I googled Russian news broadcast for 1958 and there was an interesting account a few months earlier of Yeti encounters on this range. That year a number of local Mansi tribe people disappeared. After this investigation the Russian Government banned all further investigation or reporting on the Yeti with threats of incarceration. The hikers showed a lack of knowledge and preparedness if their plan was to deal with the Yeti. They were unaware that Yeti could climb trees and were unafraid of fire, and how aggressive the Yeti could be if provoked by trespassing. The hikers did not go armed with rifles, as previous pictures showed. A note on a printed paper in their possession was ascribed “From now on we know that the snow men exist”. Although they used guns to protect themselves in this wilderness terrain for previous trips (pictures show), they did not carry them this time in case they were stopped and questioned. Whatever attacked them in their tent did not bite or claw but had extreme power to crush When the hikers made statements that they thought they saw a Yeti stalking them, they did not make camp there to try and initiate contact. No, logic dictates that these were not the reasons for going this great distance and endurance to arrive at Kholat Syakhl or Mountain of the Dead. I believe the reason and logic lies with the odd man out… Alexander Zolotarev. Sasha as he was known, was older and not a familiar part of this group, a Russian war hero, who was stationed in the Urals as a soldier. With his connections as a tourist guide and working with the Mansi, I believe he came across some valuable information. This information was the location of the Treasure of the Golden Woman of Ugra. This legend is of a woman god cast in solid gold which along with other treasures were secured by the Mansi in a mountain cave prior to the Cossack’s conquest. I believe this was the true reason these hikers were at this mountain as due to terrain conditions winter is the best time for access. It is strange that Mansi legend states that this golden idol and her treasure are protected by the Menkvi or the Yeti, as we know them! Why was their tent on the exposed side of the mountain and not logically down at the tree line for shelter and fire wood? The army could have moved the tent up the mountain to change the crime scene. Why there was radioactive material on some of the clothing and why they were not wearing any protective clothes for the harsh climate? The army could have changed their clothes and confiscated clothing which showed being radioactive. Though all good explanations, I do now believe there is only one explanation that holds up to all facets of this case! Yeti or Abominable Snow Man encounter! Why would anyone set up camp on the side of the exposed mountain, when there was a forested shelter a short distance down the mountain? On research I found that the small tent used was not their main tent - they had left supplies at a base camp and were using this very small tent for an excursion. The illogical pitching of their tent in the open may have been due to a scare from the locals at the last settlement which told them about reindeer being found dead in this area. They may have felt more secure making camp in the open rather than down within the trees. After taking off their heavy outerwear and boots and due to the small space within the tent along with the moisture and odor, they would have left this clothing outside at the back of the tent with their pack sacks to dry out. They could have left them in what appears to be an overhang on the rear of the tent where the exhaust stove chimney exits. They entered the tent in their long johns and tent slippers and had supper. Shortly after supper 2 of the men went outside to urinate (documented) with possibly a flashlight which they left on the roof of the tent (documented) and a lighter and cigarettes to have a smoke. It was written in their diary that the women did not want them smoking in the hotel rooms or tent. While out they were attacked and forced to flee down to the forest for cover. There they built a fire for warmth and to keep any predators away. On hearing a commotion outside the tent 3 students went outside to help with a flashlight but were also attacked. They fled down the mountain unable to have reached their outerwear at the back of the tent. The attack then centered on the 4 remaining students inside the tent. The Yeti unable to open the closed tent door or cut through began to pound on the center of the tent with the students inside slicing their knives back through the tent for a view and to help repel the attack. It has been reported that the remaining students may have been poked through the open slits of the tent with one of the ski poles. It was documented that numerous knife cuts were found on one of the ski poles. The Yeti attack temporarily stopped when it noticed the fire down at the tree line and the 3 students heading towards it with a flashlight (documented and found on this trail still in the on position). The Yeti have been reported as not being afraid of fire or light. The Yeti caught the 3 students before they could reach the tree line. Yeti use their large powerful arms to club and then bear hug their quarry until subdued, all similar injuries reported on the students. Seeing that the fire was attracting the Yeti the 2 students at the tree tried to frantically put it out, it was reported that one of these student’s hands were burnt possibly by this action. Next these students proceeded to climb a tree. The report claimed they had climbed the tree to observe if their tent was still there to return to for their survival gear. The problem with this is it was after sunset in winter in Russia. I googled if there was a full moon that night and there was not, so it would have been pitch dark. The only reason to climb a tree would be to try and elude a predator. It has been stated that Yeti can climb trees. One of the students was found a few hundred feet from the tree still clutching a branch as if he had been dragged down from the tree. When the remaining 4 students of the group did arrive at the tree line, they found their companions dead, so they removed what clothing they could to keep warm rather than return to the tent and what they thought was back there. They then went to a ravine and dug a snow cave for shelter. The Yeti unfortunately was waiting for them in the tree line and pursued them, cornering them at the ravine some short distance away and finished them off. One problem with the Yeti theory is that no foot prints were ever found. The explanation is it was sometime after the encounter, in winter, in a valley known for wind. The Yeti/Sasquatch have a very large bipedal foot, much like a bear paw snow shoe which would leave a very flat shallow print. These prints would easily disappear with weather conditions. The final explanation may be the hardest to believe and that is...why have no further sightings or findings been made of Yeti in this location? With all our technologies these mountains and the world in general have become a lot smaller but the Universe is immense and unknown. There were unexplained lights in the sky at this location seen by other observers, along with what appears to be pictures of Globes taken by the students Strange creatures have been reported all over the world with similar globe light occurrences (Kentucky Goblin Encounter,Chupacabras, Ogopogo, Lochness Monster, and other such things). Many documented encounters with Sasquatch have been reported with similar globe lights seen in the vicinity. Could it be that there are time portals throughout the Universe and these creatures accidentally pass through them? Could a nuclear blast such as the 1957-58 Russian accidental nuclear explosion at Kyshtym (just a few miles south of Oblast Swerdlowsk where these students were) cause a rip in our universe? This accident reportedly killed 1000’s of people and contaminated a 100 square kilometer area with high level radiation. Could the radiation on their clothing have come from physical contact with these entities? I am glad more attention is being placed on the investigation of what might have been the unfortunate deaths of these students.
7:17 - there are a lot of inconsistencies in the details of this case. Some people say some of the bodies looked like they were hit by a car, skulls were crushed. How can you say there was no outward sign of trauma? Can't have it both ways. I know people want it to be aliens or something but first let's settle on what the actual conditions of the bodies were.
There wasn't an actual avalanche as footprints was still visible at the scene, as well as the tent wasn't covered up. I think there was a panic, be it high winds or whatever else, something convinced the campers that either a avalanche was about to occur, or was already occurring. They fled from the tents under this false believe. Being in a rush explains why they never got dressed and why they cut the tent open to get out quicker. They clearly believed they was about to die. They made it to the treeline and only then did they become aware of their mistake and that there was no avalanche. Some tried to make their way back to the camp, but died in the cold due to exposure. Some tried to set up a camp fire but it wasn't enough to get them though the night. The others probably lost tried to find shelter be it a cave, abandoned cabins, anything. But they where lost in the night and likely stumbled to their deaths, falling into a ravine and being buried under snow. This explains the tent, lack of cloths, how they would of got separated, and the injuries. It's also the most logical conclusion that doesn't rely on fairy tales and myths. The radioactivity is strange but it could be a by product of the fields these people studied in. As stated in the video the machines could also simply be wrong and gave a false reading.
As a hiker, it doesn't make any sense that the group would split up when they left the area under the trees. It might make sense that they would stay under the tree, and tend the fire until daylight, when they could better see the path back to the tent. My guess would be that they ran in different directions when they first left the tent in a panic. But who knows....
This case is not such a mystery as one might think. They simply run out of the tent very quickly into the night. We dont know the reason - maybe some sound of falling avalanche for example, in some videos telling about kind of ultra sound which can falling snow make and cause people panicking. The rest is explainable. There is an phenomenon of very quick temperature falling, that was announced in the area. They simple could be able to run into the forest, but not able to return in changed circumstances.
@@RoniiNN i dont know the reason, thats mystery. I just watched many videos about the case and one of them told about the sound of avalanche. there is an commentary here that the reason could be the fight among the expedition members.

Amazing story!! I think though that a rational explanation is always the most probable one. Here's my theory: exhausted of the hike during the day, they decide it is time to camp (I think everybody will agree up until here XD). Two guys are left behind gathering wood for the stove (they mostly take dry branches from the trees) while the others look for a proper place to camp. It is getting dark and winds start to blow so they set up the tent fast and not in the best spot. They stay in the tent convinced that the other two will follow their footprints and will join them. Outside it is getting dark, the storm is getting worse and the two guys in the woods, who don't know how far the tent is, are afraid to get lost. Probably are expecting someone of the other group to come back to help them/guide them to the tent. They are getting cold fast so they decide to light a fire (I believe the fire has to be lighted before any heavy wind storm starts, otherwise it becomes an impossible task). An argument starts within the group in the tent since the two guys outside are not coming back and they all know they are in danger. Some are reluctant to go out and face the storm. One of them impulsively cuts open the tent from the inside in order to help the two that are outside. The group has now no other choice than follow their traces to the woods. By the time they arrive there the storm has grown strong and find the two guys freezing/frozen to death and the fire out. Little can be done. They take as much of their clothes as they can. Another discussion follows on what to do next. Maybe a small fight takes place. Some decide to follow Dyatlov back to the tent while the others decide to find another shelter nearby. The Dyatlov group dies one after another trying to reach back the tent. The other group finds shelter into a ravine but the snow collapses and kills them. End of the tragic story. Note: the missing boots might have been stolen from them by a native or by someone else (was certainly a very valuable asset there). The group found buried under the snow in the ravine had all boots. If the boots were found inside the tent (maybe some had two pairs?), then perhaps the thief/thieves decided to put them back there in view of the research group appearing in the area. Also, I don't take any credit to the footprints they say they found, the area might have been contaminated by the research group.
If the cause was an avalanche why was their tent not buried under deep snow. As soon as they cut large holes in the tent to escape they sealed their fate, experienced hikers would not have done this. Indeed nor would anyone with the slightest understanding of the effects of a cold climate.
There are many loopholes in the official conclusion. 1) if there is an avalanche, why would someone waste their time in tearing off the tent which obviously was not an easy task as several attempts would have been needed to do that..why not simply exit the tent via its main gate which could have been done in a matter of seconds. 2) If there is an avalanche, even if you have to make a quick exit, why wouldn't you grab hold of your shoes and yes even if you don't have time to wear them, you would still grab them and make a dash so that later on you can wear them once you have a chance. Why would you run away without shoes because that's suicidal. It's like you are escaping a probable avalanche to a sure shot death which could easily be avoided had you put 1 second more in grabbing your shoe. These ppl were intelligent and knew what they were doing. They were already grade 2 certified in mountain trekking. Most of them had degrees in science and were engineers or on their way to become one. The conclusion which is drawn isn't at all in sync with the choices such profile of people would make.
I think they saw something secret the military was doing and were beaten and chased to silence them. First I think they were confronted after witnessing something. Perhaps escalation into being beaten. Military left and they went into tent thinking it was all over. Then shots were fired in front of tent and thinking they were about to be killed cut their way out of side of tent and ran. You can sit in a helicopter and shoot down at people to avoid leaving tracks in snow. They were chased to the woods where they tried to make a small fire and waited for copter to leave. It was weaving around searching perhaps biding time for them to die from exposure and when it left for a moment the kids thought perhaps they could make it back to tent but succumbed to the cold. The ones who were buried in snow and found later either got caught up in an avalanche or were caught, beaten , tongue cut out, died or near death, and were buried. It was weeks before any were found and months before the last were found . I am sure it snowed in that time and with military and other searchers any tracts were erased. The lamps they were using at the time actually gave off small amounts of radiation. This is my theory

What if they had a sudden feeling that their tent was sinking into a hole, that the tent was constructed over a sink hole. Or an earthquake happened and they felt an avalanche was immediately imminent. An avalanche that didn’t occur.
One of the main clues is in there last journal entry's where they say they slept with out there heating stove on . That means they was already feeling the effects of the poison that was effecting them all . It explains why they left there tent with out warm clothing one or more of them at the same time went mad and the rest was trying to get away from whom ever it was in there group who was threatening them real or other wise just in there infected minds . The only thing that would drive all of them crazy at the same time would be something they all had witch would most likely had been there Vodka was bad .
I think Nick Crowley nailed it. Makeshift stove embers started to smoke so badly everyone in various sleeping outfits ( not in parkas boots, hats) cut tent from inside to all get out fast. Then believing tent is on fire ( or at the least they are unable to renter to dress and save gear at that moment due to smoke) with all their backpacks and gear, walk calmly to the trees to create a lean-to from tree branches. Start a small fire. Best dressed 4 walk a small distance in hopes of perhaps better cover and fall into a hole causing fatal internal breaks and injuries. Others die of hypothermia. Animals remove soft tissue like tongue, eyes. An avalanche would have wiped out the clear steady footprints to the trees shelter.
6:06 wrong surname. It's Krivonisyenko Zolotaryov is the most suspicious person. He joined the group two days before the start of the expedition. And on two different memorial he has two different names: Zolotarev S. A. (Semyon) in one and in another Zolatorev A.I. Many people thinks, his is an agent of KGB. He joined the group, because he knew, the group will visit an important strategic facility where some weapons are tested or missiles are launched. So for now as many russian people think about the reason: the group left the tent very quickly because some ballistic missile parts may have fallen on the tent. This explains the presence of some yellow burning spheres in the sky and the presence of radiation on some participants. The official statement sounds like bullsh..t.
"10 people a year on average are killed by brown bears in Russia, more than all the other parts of the brown bear's international range combined, although Russia also holds more brown bears than all other parts of the world combined." By 'Brown Bear' they mean 'Grizzly Bear'.
Not heard of this mystery before, looking forward to finding the book and reading more. Interested in the Battle of Minden where the British fought cavalry,. Thank you.
So they hear an avalanche coming and say to each other "lets all get naked first" and then in a panic they rip the tent up from the inside to get out and run in different directions in pitch black darkness without clothes or equipment. Makes little sense to me. Maybe they all got close together undressed for warmth before the panic hit. If an avalanche hit that tent then nothing would be left standing. I think something terrifying got into that tent with them. Maybe one of the orbs or entities which were seen in the sky that night.
If it was an avalanche then why did they cut the tent open from the inside? This one act alone clearly indicates to me that they were hiding from someone or something and escaped out the back side of the tent.
They cut the tent because they are in a BIG HURRY to get out of the tent for some unknown reason. That reason could be: They think an avalance is coming, or they think a Bear is nearby, or they think bombs are going off around themn , or they think bigfoot is coming, or they think a meteorite shower is coming, or (pick your favorite danger) is coming. The truth is, we don't know what scared them so much. The key is... they left the tents in a BIG HURRY, ran downhill to the forest ... and then pretty quickly froze to death or (for a couple of them) fell down the ravine and died of internal injuries.
@@JamieTransNyc There were no bear tracks or any other foot prints for that matter. And why would you cut a tent if you thought an avalanche was coming? That makes no sense. It would be quicker to just run. But again there was no sign of avalanche either. Why did they spread out? What happened to the bodies?
@@nicksepulvado Why did they cut the tent: A person cuts a tent in order to escape it quickly, because they feel that getting out within 5-10 seconds is necessary and they feel like if they wait 30 seconds to 1 minute then they will die or be hurt, this is so obvious I cannot see why you even ask it. Why did they spread out: There are many obvious reasons why people departing their tent in the middle of the night, without their clothes and in an obvious panic would end up in different places. What happened to the bodies: Some were in the woods, some were in the ravine, and some were in the clearing apparently trying to return to the tents. This is stated in the report and in the video.
Avalanche makes no sense. The tent was still exposed, right? Supposing there was an avalanche in the vicinity--after it had subsided, why would the team not have returned to their tent to retrieve their supplies? They couldn't have gotten lost, as their footprints were still visible when the search party found them. In addition, I don't see any explanation for the missing eyebrows and eyeballs beside human intervention. I think that there was malevolent intervention by either some of the team members, the local tribe, or some other well-equipped (likely gov't) party. Can't say much with regard to the radiation--could point toward military intervention due to the vicinity of a test site, or perhaps the region was a previously irradiated test site. Either way, it is almost clear that humans had some part in the team's death. As for the woman with missing lips and tongue, it seems like she was just hungry (depending on how long she was out there; calories burn fast in such frigid temperatures) or disoriented (don't know much about hypothermia's effects on the brain). The lips were likely numb soon after the exodus, so it wouldn't have hurt much.
My dad used to say “some people in this world are so smart they’re stupid!” The way I see it is all of these people who died on that mountain were students at a Polytechnic Institute in Russia somewhere. That right there tells me they were more than likely very smart people and graduated at the top of their class. However, wanting to go out in the dead of winter in temperatures below zero and go camping was stupidity on the highest order! Spring was just a few months away, why not wait till then!? And no, don’t any of you survivalist types tell me “it’s a test of the human spirit“ or any of that bovine excrement. It’s frigging stupid! It’s one thing to get cast into conditions like that by way of either a plane crash, vehicle wreck or something like that but to willingly go out camping in conditions like that is just plain dumb. And no, I’m not necessarily picking on these people that died on that mountain because in my lifetime I’ve seen plenty of people who are regarded as bright, intelligent, studious, etc. yet don’t even have sense enough to get out of the rain! 🙄
His theory doesn't work because the stove was found inside the tent disassembled. They didn't try to escape a fire. There were also no burn marks or smoke imprints.
It's bs theory. Even if tent was in smoke or on fire there is no reason to go so far from it and abandon all equipment. They could very easy move across the wind to avoid smoke if there would be any, and try to contain it, and salvage anything that they could before totally leaving to the woods.
I have always thought that perhaps some small and vicious animal like a wolverine or raccoon got into the tent looking for food. Once discovered it started going crazy and they cut the tent to run away... then had to wait till the animal finished eating before they could return... they waited too long.
@@JamieTransNyc Perhaps Barbi but surely they would have known the dangers they faced both leaving and destroying the tent.. there nine of them and it seems like something larger than a small animal but perhaps...
@@Goodnewsglobal Well if it were a small vicious animal, it would work... most people have no idea how difficult it is when trapped in a small space with an animal biting and scratching. I propose a small animal because I think I read that there were no reports of large animal tracks. However if we allow a large animal (like a bear) then it would be enough for it to be nearby and making noise.. they would run just hearing a bear within feet of their tents.
@@JamieTransNyc This makes sense. However, why would travel a mile away and wait it out with little clothing? I'm sure they were aware hypothermia would kill them all quicker than one animal.

Not an avalanche, a snow slab made unstable by digging the hole to lay the tent on. The instability is localized to the area where the tent was put in place, pretty obvious to me.
JFK was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. RFK was killed by Sirhan Sirhan. MLK was shot dead by James Earl Ray. Abraham Lincoln was killed by Southern sympathizer John Wilkes Booth. Malcolm X was murdered by a faction within the nation of Islam. 911 was carried out by terrorists from Saudi Arabia, backed by Osama bin Laden for various reasons, e.g., American Soldiers occupation on Saudi land before the war, Desert Storm, and American hegemony around the world. Nothing mysterious about this.
@@kevinmalone3210 very well stated. Although....recently a book by Secret Service Agent Clint Hill who was in the group protecting JFK's very car, has written that JFK was accidentally killed because when the first 2 shots were fired, An agent in the car reached for a sniper rifle that was kept on board for protection and as he grabbed it, the car lurched, the gun fired and he accidentally shot the president. Mr. Hill said they all agreed NOT to tell this story until the agent had died, because of the anger and hostility that might have been inflicted on him. Read his book. I forgot the title but it is about his life in the Secret Service, protecting 5 presidents. VERY interesting book.
very interesting. You KNOW that if the Soviet authorities had not been so paranoid about secrecy at that time, this story might be more believable. No one considered a Bigfoot attack as possible?????
Theres a fascinating article published National Geographic today ( January 28 2021 ) that says an avalanche may be the most plausible explanation of this disaster. There is a possibility of a small earthquake loosened the snow and eventually caused the avalanche. The internal injuries are consistant with blunt force trauma but the other injuries may be because of wildlife feeding on the corpses.
@@manchild3479 from what I remember of the article it said that some tents were not covered completely so the few that did survive tried to escape down the mountain
Their lamps used parts that would’ve been mildly radioactive, which explains why radiation was localized around waistbands or places a lamp would’ve been, as far as I’ve seen
Andrei BS: Only two of the hikers had (low level) radioactive contamination on their clothes and both of them had recently worked with radioactive material so there was nothing surprising about that. See the book "Don't Go There" by Svetlana Voss for more details. www.amazon.co.uk/Dont-Go-There-Mystery-Dyatlov/dp/151775559X
Really interesting, this is a fascinating mystery. But, an avalanche? I have serious doubts, that leaves a lot unsettled. For one--how did just 2 of the 9 die without their eyes? How does a weather event explain that?
Has anyone ever considered a professional or personal rivalry between two or amongst some members of the group which, under the spur of the moment, turned into a fierce fight amongst them, so severe that it ended with all of them dead. May be the grieved member went into a frenzy, killing all others and who himself also got killed... just a thought.
I believe that the group panicked and could not come to a single agreeing to their survival. Building a fire near trees would indicate uncertainty and shelter. That spot was selected I think because there was an uncertainty about outrunning. The trees are commonly used to absorb wind and snow slides. I believe one of the more experienced hikers thought it was the best course of action in case of the worst. I also believe that there was an idea to consolidate clothing for the few that attempted to get back to the tents. I would also think that a few later thought the best idea was to build a snow cave which was a common hiker survival practice to keep warm. The tent travelers got overly exhausted, the volunteer tree campers froze, and the snow cavers got buried due to unsupported structure or water under the snow. I'm not sure that it was a single event such a an avalanche but rather the fear of one during a heavy storm. As for the missing tongue, I believe the impact of the collapse could have caused her to severely bite her tongue and natural events followed.
It is possible that there was no avalanche but perhaps due the sounds of the storm; the hikers thought an avalanche was imminent. That would explain them fleeing the tent lightly clothed. The injuries might have been caused by the hikers tumbling down the ravine. Which would probably be easy to do if they thought they were fleeing from an avalanche in the dark during a snowstorm.
I think the avalanche theory is correct, their tent was covered in a sudden crush of snow and they had to cut and tunnel their way out, the tent was collapsed under the snow and they assumed they were in immediate danger of another slide. The powerful winds drove them downhill toward the treeline and shelter but with very little survival gear. The winds eventually uncovered the buried tent and even uncovered footprints by the time searchers arrived. The collapsed tent is the clue, it was hit with enough force to collapse it and they would only have had to cut their way out if the tent entrance was buried and up was the only way out. Everything else has natural explanations and the secret files revealed nothing incriminating so it appears that inadvertently losing their way and camping in an avalanche zone is quite reasonable and ranks well above Yetis and aliens!
If you notice in The original photo the 1st responders by the tent there's a cross in skis never moved 1" this is just one of the many theories how can you explain....
Thank you for being honest about these tragic deaths. So much false information has been written about this case over the years. As almost always the simplest answer is the answer. An avalanche and cold doomed them, from the start their fate was sealed. It's too bad that over the years so much false evidence has been added to this set of tragic events.
it was in the 41st quarter that the tourists received a warning, in the Mansi language, that they would change the route, but Dyatlov laughed at this, and Yuri Yudin was seriously scared of this warning and returned back, and by this he extended his life for another 60 years!
Why were the expedition members only partially clothed? If you understand the problems caused by cold weather and warm tents it makes perfect sense. They wore all their heavy weather gear while they were setting the tent up. But once they got inside the tent with their wood stove going it was too warm to continue to wear the cold weather gear. They would have started seriously sweating and thus have to dry their clothes out before they could have worn them outside again. So they stripped down to their long johns so they could be comfortable and not have problems when they had to get dressed to go outside again. My pet theory as to why they left the tent was that something happened to/went wrong with the stove that caused it to collapse. Regardless of whether or not they thought the tent was actually on fire the tent filled with smoke to the point they could not remain inside. So they cut their way out of the tent to avoid dying of smoke inhalation. Once out of the tent in only their underwear they largely succumbed to hypothermia, as well as either falling down and or being blown down/into rocks, off cliffs, etc.. The condition of some of the bodies could be due to the action of scavengers, likely birds.
I thought the avalanche theory had already been dismissed because no avalanches were known to have occurred. Now there is a blizzard no one knew about? Why would people not know of an avalanche at the time but this is suddenly "revealed" in 2020?

Softest parts of the body always get eaten first and it's a poor predator that can't dig in the snow for food. Solved it for you.

I had to Laugh What a good comment none of it makes any cents🧟♀️👻

It's still unknown what the lights in the sky meant. Had they been the residues of meteor impact, there would possibly have been loud explosive noises. Something caused a panic flight from the tent. As some members were inside the tent when collective panic possessed them, there was no hope of group cohesion in the darkness.
That's pretty interesting, impact could cause an avalanche 🤔🤔 radiation from a meteorite 🤔🤔 interesting indeed
I really believe that those lights had to do with there deaths. There injuries were horrific. What person or animal causes injuries like that? It had to be the lights. But it also does not explain everything. They escaped the tent, went to woods, starred fire. Why split? Why nor try to keep the fire big, stay close to fire?
They were probably having autism attacks
Every other version of this Iv seen of this incident claimed the slope they were on was too shallow for an avalanche, plus if it was an avalanche why was the ten exposed. Wouldn't it have been buried?
Good call
The government approved a plan?

The theory I heard was that this was a place where the Soviets had testing for the military and didn’t want visitors and so they were murdered, blaming it on the Yetti. A mythical big foot like creature that was said to eat the tongue of it’s victims. Nothing sounds that believable to me.
Except there weren't myths about yeti in USSR
Wouldn’t they have removed their cameras or at least the film if it were the army? Not like the army could tell what’s on the film so they would have at least taken the film.
Nah... the military would have just told them (at the point of a gun) to move along.

Katabatic wind is the most plausible theory I have heard. Happened in Sweden in the 70s to a group of skiers, very unpleasant.
I have watched many of these videos on this subject and I have yet to find out how the 10th person made it back safely. Great video.
He was ill and went immediately back in the truck that brought them.

It's worth pointing out that he claimed it was military cover up in his last interviews before he passed. Not some random avalanche.
Apparently, he suffered from sciatica and it was acting up on the way to the wilderness so he made a wise choice and never set out with the rest from the final outpost/camp.
If it was an avalanche, then I'm a pixie from Planet X.
Wdym?
and also, in the last photo where tourists are digging a place for a tent, this is not at all the slope of mountain 1079, this is the place exactly below where they found the flooring!
If it were animals that took the tongue and eyes . Wouldn't they have eaten more than just that?
Could’ve been decomposition too
Not necessarily,if it were crows or ravens that fed on the bodies the first parts that they would go for would be the eyes and soft tissue areas of the face, including the tongue.
The fact they got a fire going is remarkable, try striking a match or flicking a Bic when your fingers are almost frozen...It's natural that theories will abound in such cases but I think it comes down to one thing ... cold.
Quite possible. Hot-flash occurs with severe hypothermia.
Then why they didnt choose to leave
My biggest problem with the avalanche theory is that there were supposedly footprints found --- actually this is really a major problem I have with the investigation. The footprints showed the hikers being barefoot or wearing socks. My question is that - An avalanche or even normal snow would have /should have buried or covered those footprints. The investigation came a good 2 full weeks after they were supposed to have returned. If you're telling me footprints would not have been buried by snow/wind/weather forces in 15-20 days...then I challenge that.
I challenge you to come here and I will show you
They begin to searched after 1 month???
But what about the radiation and colored stuff bodies were covered in. Some times that happens when someone wants to mark something
So it was that?
@@cheerful_crop_circle Nobody seems to have come up with a more logical explanation!
I have thought of the unfortunate and unexplained death of these students for some time and as Spock stated in Star Trek - quoted from Sherlock Holmes “… when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth…”
I originally thought that it may have been the Russian army with concussion bombs that were dropped on them by accident.
Whatever attacked them in their tent did not bite or claw but had extreme power to crush
When the hikers made statements that they thought they saw a Yeti stalking them, they did not make camp there to try and initiate contact.
On research I found that the small tent used was not their main tent - they had left supplies at a base camp and were using this very small tent for an
excursion.
There were unexplained lights in the sky at this location seen by other observers, along with what appears to be pictures of Globes taken by the students
Strange creatures have been reported all over the world with similar globe light occurrences (Kentucky Goblin Encounter,Chupacabras, Ogopogo, Lochness Monster, and other such things).
Interesting story I think there is more to it. But we will never know the true answer.
Did they do a toxicology report?this looks like a pcp, meth or LSD experiment gone wrong.

I just watched many videos about the case and one of them told about the sound of avalanche. there is an commentary here that the reason could be the fight among the expedition members.

i talk about avalanche as one of the many reason of the escape from the tent and i see it as very weird as well - therefore i tell, the reason of escape is the real mystery
A few paragraph breaks, and I would read it all.....remember next time.
I dont understand what happened with the missing tongue and eyes though? An avalanche doesnt explain that part.
Great job making this,i love a good real mystery.

So how does and avalanche remove two sets of eyes and a tonge?
Awesome Video!!!
What if they had a sudden feeling that their tent was sinking into a hole, that the tent was constructed over a sink hole. Or an earthquake happened and they felt an avalanche was immediately imminent. An avalanche that didn’t occur.
Seriously? Avalanches are varied and complicated. You have no idea what you are talking about.

It's Krivonisyenko
Zolotaryov is the most suspicious person.
Well done video, mysterious case indeed. Even a brand new movie series were just released ( in Russian) of the story.

The sides of the tent were cut
@@nicksepulvado
Why did they cut the tent: A person cuts a tent in order to escape it quickly, because they feel that getting out within 5-10 seconds is necessary and they feel like if they wait 30 seconds to 1 minute then they will die or be hurt, this is so obvious I cannot see why you even ask it.
@@JamieTransNyc why not go through the front entrance flap.it would have been quicker.
Excellently done! Thank you.
Everything you said...but all in Spongebob font.
What if the tents were not cut open from the inside at all?
I think LEMMiNO
's video on the Dyatlov Pass incident has the best theory, I recommend checking it out. Also happy to have found this channel.
His theory doesn't work because the stove was found inside the tent disassembled. They didn't try to escape a fire. There were also no burn marks or smoke imprints.
@@ZombieRommel Plus, they all had orange, tannish ruddy skin. That's not a stove, smoke event.
I agree. Just finished reading on it.
It's bs theory. Even if tent was in smoke or on fire there is no reason to go so far from it and abandon all equipment. They could very easy move across the wind to avoid smoke if there would be any, and try to contain it, and salvage anything that they could before totally leaving to the woods.
Of all the strange stories I've ever heard this one haunts me most.. something appeared INSIDE the tent.. WTF!!
@@JamieTransNyc They couldent have taken a flashlight or ski pole and the thing over the head??
@@JamieTransNyc This makes sense. However, why would travel a mile away and wait it out with little clothing? I'm sure they were aware hypothermia would kill them all quicker than one animal.
I've seen many documentaries and read a lot about this incident some documentary suggested when they did post-mortem on these individuals half of them were highly intoxicated most experts will tell you that when the body begins to freeze to death the brain gets to a certain temperature hallucinations and very strange things start going on to make an individual freezing to death by hypothermia do some in human or weird things in another documentary are renowned investigator who had a lot of information on this incident said it was the victims had a skull fracture that was caused seemingly by the butt of a rifle and the list goes on and on something out of the ordinary did happen up there possibly we will never know
Not an avalanche, a snow slab made unstable by digging the hole to lay the tent on. The instability is localized to the area where the tent was put in place, pretty obvious to me.
Wdym?
the Soviets are reall smart people, send people up a mountain in a remote area in january in SIBERIA
This one belongs in the same category with the assassination of JFK, RFK, MLK, Abraham Lincoln, Malcolm-X, and 9/11.
@@kevinmalone3210 😂 You've got it sussed huh? Do swallow everything your fed?
@@kevinmalone3210 yes.
Earl Driskill JFK was murdered by the mob, the CIA and Johnson, NOT OSWALD who was just a patsy. Never proven that Earl killed MLK.
The internal injuries are consistant with blunt force trauma but the other injuries may be because of wildlife feeding on the corpses.
why then was the top part of the tent still visible, and their foot prints visible??????
@@manchild3479 from what I remember of the article it said that some tents were not covered completely so the few that did survive tried to escape down the mountain
What's avalanche got to do with The presence of radiations?
Nothing. Officials later blamed the unusual radiation readings on poor quality /faulty equipment giving falsely high results.

Really interesting, this is a fascinating mystery. But, an avalanche? I have serious doubts, that leaves a lot unsettled. For one--how did just 2 of the 9 die without their eyes? How does a weather event explain that?
True
Has anyone ever considered a professional or personal rivalry between two or amongst some members of the group which, under the spur of the moment, turned into a fierce fight amongst them, so severe that it ended with all of them dead. May be the grieved member went into a frenzy, killing all others and who himself also got killed... just a thought.
I just saw another video stating that some of their clothing was radioactive at levels above what is considered safe to work with.
I feel that this was more then an avalanche
A lot of important info missed out , like how did the army / kgb manage to get to the scene before they were even reported as missing ?
They didn't.
How can one tell if the tent was cut open on the inside or even the outside? I'm just curious.
Tumbled by snow and they look like they are hit by a car?
@@glowinggold9488 They fell down a ravine and hit boulders at the bottom.
@@JamieTransNyc what report said they hit boulders or that just assumed? Still not buying it
Okay so its avalanche but why they lost their eyes n tounge, okay its animals but the mountain called as death mountain bcoz simply nobody lives there
I think the avalanche theory is correct, their tent was covered in a sudden crush of snow and they had to cut and tunnel their way out, the tent was collapsed under the snow and they assumed they were in immediate danger of another slide.
So sad what happened to these young kids I hope they find out the truth may GOD bless them and their families 🙏❤r💒rip
WOW. Very sad, especially never knowing for sure,
At least this one doesn't suddenly shows the dead bodies as if it's a gameplay of a horror game... Unlike a certain channel...
lol
What about it?
I tend to try and not get demonetized on purpose 😉
It did show a dead body though.
What channel...?
One of the most plausible theories I read so far.
