No good way too light loose a heap of good fish and lures that way. Some of the boys use 30lb but I think that's over killl but dam they catch em. I use 12lb and still get rubbed off... Check your leader after every fish/snag if it’s chaffed snip off damaged section re tie. 6 pound a bit light for skinny water Id be running 10-12 pound if you hook a proper one you’ll actually be in with a shot.

6lb is the problem man and it being hairy makes it 20 times harder. I run 20lb no probs catching them man
might been to up to 8-10lbs and chaffed line is about as good as hair. Might wonna check your rod rings
