I've been on this planet for over 80 years and Lucy is the ONLY singer that I've ever recommended to anyone. I only wish that I had more years left to follow this songtress.

Lovely in every way! This song has fed into a deep seated fear of mine ever since I first heard Eric Carmen sing it back in 1975. Seemed to be a self fulfilling prophecy as I am now truly…all by myself(though I kind of want to be at this point)! Now,hearing Lucy sing it,it still brings tears to my eyes. It’s beautiful. what I love about Lucy's songs is she pronounces the words clearly, no thinking 'say what?' !... and she sings the songs her way, not trying a carbon copy of the original. As you suggest, lordy only knows why Lucy isn't box office by now. Hopefully the West End show she is now rehearsing for will kick things off
This is Lucy’s version so there won’t be anything wrong with it. Liking Celine Dion and knowing her music, I’ll inform immediately Lucy is a better singer, has a nicer voice and has more power than Celine. Compared to Celine Lucy has easy power - it’s just there. Celine had to push it but still wasn’t equal to Lucy. The same with Barbra Streisand. You need to face it as I did and everybody else has, Lucy is just better!
And again about Lucy’s directional looks, Lucy uses her glance to evoke the meaning of the song to tell the story with feeling. Plus to get the viewer’s attention at the correct time. Obviously one can only see that when simply watching and enjoying the performance.
I’ve heard of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Bob Hope, and listened The Beatles, but Lucy is now. Who wants to dig up Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra or Elvis. Times and music have changed. It’s actually very much more difficult today for an artist to succeed big as did The Beatles or Whitney, because now there are thousands of would be singers from every country competing equally, and listeners have to go find them. When before they were put in front of us and played on the radio 50 times a day, and there was only 10 to choose from. Lucy has already demonstrated she can sing equal to the greats, she now needs more original great songs like Broken Dreams and Brand New Day, and similar to this to make her mark with.
Lucy is a much better singer than Celine. Where Celine's belt often sounds strained and harsh, Lucy's belt sounds effortless and much more musical. Lucy's voice is also more pleasant and much more versatile. Lucy is in a class of her own.
Could it be that Lucy is reinventing the art of singing.

OMG, I had to listen to your review again n your reactions. Ohh I had a shiver up n down my spine n even the hairs around my neck n shoulders ( no I’m not a werewolf haha) were standing up. And YES, I love the “ grrr” near the end of the song n it makes me wonder what that will be like in the next 10-20 years! I can’t go one day without hearing at least 2-3 of her songs.

Great reaction Chris, even though you cut Lucy off at the end. Just emotions running I guess. Just a stab in the dark, but I think why she gets to you, is because, like many of us, you've realised that this girl is something special and like the rest of us, you just want the best for her. Her humbleness and presence is such, that when hearing her mind blowing ability........ it makes for the ultimate Hollywood story kind of thing, that we can all help to play a part in. Her attraction is absolute and we all just want to let everyone else enjoy it too. I know you've pretty well spelled this out yourself, but there you are anyway.
Just revisited Celine covering this song,she is a great singer though never really did it for me!,Lucy on the other hand i can listen to time& time again!,her lower tones are richer,her higher tones are smoother,yet so full of power!,Lucy is without equal in my humble opinion!😊

Lucy Thomas doesn't copy music... she improves it. I knew every one of those prior singers and directors you rattled off. Can't judge the present without knowing the past. Rat Pack, Vega, Hollywood, amazing legacies. Lucy has the most dynamic vocal range of any singer in her generation. She never runs out of pitch, breath, or vibrato regardless where she starts on the scale. Typically she will come up 1/3 or more multiple times by the end of song. Her crescendos are legendary.
Lucy is simply pre-legend. It's inevitable...

Hi all n especially Lucy Thomas. How’s this ?? Last week I was driving home n rather than listen to the radio I played my Spotify list of LUCY. I had not heard her sing this song yet even though it was on her list. I was randomly selecting so I didn’t know what/when was coming up, when all of a sudden, Lucy’s deeper slow voice came on n I thought this will be interesting, knowing how Celine Dion dives deep n reaches a nice high pitched tone.
THEN, 💥BANG,💥KAPOW, 💥BOOM💥, LUCY EXPLODES INTO THAT INCREDIBLE POWER PHASE AND JUST SMASHES IT. I was waiting for the windows to crack, the mirrors to fall down etc OH MY GOODNESS! 😱😱
I know she does similar in many songs BUT…. this is past anything else I’ve heard so far. Again it’s another song I gave much attention to when it was sung by Celine but NOW… gee, it too has become another favourite of mine .

I've heard all of the greatest singers past and present; Elvis Presley, Luciano Pavarotti, Karen Carpenter, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin etc...and Lucy stands heads shoulders knees and toes above them all as the best of them all in my opinion, to me it's no longer about comparing Lucy with the legends but the legends with Lucy because she is the here and now aswell as the future and with any justice in this world she's going to leave an unparalleled legacy behind once her life and career has gone full circle, and as if her immeasurably beautiful voice wasn't enough she's also as visually stunning as a young; Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Ross or Natalie Wood 😍

Also - she's really singing the original Eric Carmen version, not Celine's cover. Celine can't touch Lucy's low notes. Celine sings well, and puts on a good show, but she doesn't give me goosebumps. Celine's voice seems shallow in comparison. High and loud, but without that massive, yet perfectly controlled, echo chamber that Lucy must be hiding in the back of her throat. I get goosebumps and teary eyes from Lucy, but not Celine.

I think Lucy heard you say "not as powerfull as Celine Dion" and took revenge 😂😂: at the end she is belting out beautifully!! Nice story to think about after the video. I think that incredible vocalists like Lucy Thomas, Angelina Jordan, Amira Willighagen, Emma Kok and (as you say) a few others are capable of making an impression which can last longer than their lives. Time will tell if that will happen. What I do know however: we have to be patient, because we are watching / reacting at very young singers from 15-20 years of age so they didn't have the chance yet to really start their career. It is so easy to overlook that as their voices are so mature.

You need to watch Lucy when she auditioned for The Voice Kids - UK in 2018, she sings "Moon River" and nails it and she was just 13 at the time!

Question? At timestamp 7:26 was that a key change or did she jump up a full octave? I don't have a piano to check it. If it was indeed a key change that is extremely difficult as at this point the backing instruments are in a musical break thus the vocalist has no reference to match key and or pitch and must rely on muscle memory and their own "ear" and basically requires " perfect pitch" and a lot of self confidence. Jumping an octave is still difficult to do and not something one hears every day. Either way this young lady deserves way more exposure she is so under appreciated. So funny to compare her to the greats. I think she surpasses most of them if not all of them. I look at her as we are thinking about her place and what is she like 16 when she did this song? I heard an interview with her and she did a great job but you could tell she is very young. When she sings you would think she is a wily older veteran if you didn't see her. I hope to see Lucy some day in concert. Can you imagine how the crowd would go crazy? Do a few songs then bring Martha out. The noise would be epic. A few more songs then bring Mum (English version for everyone) out and the roof would be blown off from the crowd.

Hi Chris I always await your reviews and this was a great review until the end What happened ?You didn´t finish the song and then went off on a tangent about I don´t know what. One thing we can agree on is that Lucy has a beautiful rich calming voice she sings to your soul She has perfect pitch, amazing control never drops a note never ,runs out of breath and no one can do vibrato like Lucy She is imo. the best female vocalist in the world today Which if I remember correctly is what you said .What I can not agree with you is that Celine Dion´s version was better, Celine was good in her time and now yes unfortunately she has serious health problems and I wish her well. But she has never in my opinion been on Lucy´s level .Like Whitney Houston she screams and there is no need to scream many artists scream to cover mistakes. Lucy has covered two of Celin´s songs and crushed them both .If I am not mistaken this is Eric Carmen´s song, So Celine covered his song also. You know Lucy is starring in a new Musical opening in London next Autumn and there are songs from it on her channel If you haven't listened to them you should they are amazing. Great comment. Lucy is the most technically perfect singer I have ever heard. She has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Add to that the way Lucy delivers the emotions of her songs and you have the best vocalist on the planet. I listen to Lucy every day.

Wonderful beautiful Lucy must have been only 17 or 18 when she recorded this . Lucy is better than all of these "divas" like Streisand, Dion and especially Houston ! She is really pulling out all the emotional stops on this one !! I remember the original by Eric Carmen from when it was a hit in the UK in 1976 !!!

i am am the generation before yours 72 now and Dion never really had much appeal good but not great. I whent back and listened to her remasterd original and I see why she never resonated with me. She was just about schreeching those power notes and I doubt she was on key.for them Lucy is a Masterclass in singing and presentation reminds me of Linda Rhondstat perhaps even better.

Hopefully you know by now this is an Eric Carmen song but I understand why you are comparing it to Celine. I disagree with your assessment of Dion as being perfect. When you compare Lucy to Celin the nasal quality of Celines voice becomes evident, glaringly so. Lucy's tonal quality, in my opinion, is what sets her apart and above, every other singer.
