Other uses:
Get past a locked door if you can see through the keyhole to the other side. Remember, the only requirement is that you see where you are going. If you can see a room beyond an inch crack, you.can teleport through that crack or keyhole.
Another useful feature is to excape from a Wall of Force or a Forcecage. This is the time Sorcerers with Misty Step shine because they have really good Chr saves and thats what you need to excape from force fields.

especially good when you’re grappled by a flying creature, or if you get surrounded and want to get the heck out. Fey Touched is great for warlocks because you want more choices for ways to cast, and sorcerers because you want more spells in general.

I once used misty step to puff out above a beholder to get my backstab. Took a couple trys, as I was falling, but so satisfying when I landed that crit.

This is the best combat/exploration movement spell in the game. More than enough movement to be useful. Bonus Action. Cheap even for a 1/3 caster. This plus Silvery Barbs is why Fae Touched is the best feat in the game.

Yeah, this is one of those spells a half or third caster doesn't feel bad about using when they finally get it.

In a world where this spell, or very least knowledge of it's existence is fairly common, how would this evolve security planning for buildings?

If you are a spell caster in a dungeon you will probably find yourself needing it more than once a long rest. You might use it in exploration, and then later find your squishy butt surrounded by 3 enemies in a combat encounter.

I don't really know why but wotc changed Spider Climb to a 2nd level spell. I always liked it when it was a 1st level spell but it is hard to justify spending a 2nd level slot on it when there's movement access such as Misty Step and Levitate at the same level.

Also, second level is too close to Fly to get excited about using it.
