So happy Mimi you are back on YT. This is where I first found you. I am not on IG so when you focused on that channel you lost me. You are one of the first RUclipsrs that inspired me when I was younger. Still remember your video about how it's important to dress your best and your other one about anxiety. I started meditating thanks to your advice. Luxy hair was also a great success story and inspiration on how it is possible to have an amazing online business and live the dream. Your journey with Alex and Alexa was very inspiring. Please stay consistent on YT, will follow you.

I agree with mimi in regard to wanting deep connection vs surface level but alex made a good point when he said “we have to meet people where their at” because not everyone’s going to be willing to open up and go deep at first meetings. Good points. Thanks for sharing! I love these podcast episodes 🧡🧡🧡

🎉 yay! Love that you guys are back! Coming from a girl who loves networking events and asks everyone what they do for a living (but agree that you shouldn’t - I’ve done it for work for 16 years… so am genuinely curious). Hearing your POV’s is always so interesting. Thanks for your forever inspo ❤

I’m so happy that you guys uploaded new podcasts! Been patiently waiting for them for so long! I feel like podcasts are the best form of connecting online. And this episode was very insightful☺️ I struggle with small talk a lot. But I think that I gotten better with time. Small talk might be a skill that should be learned in school because for some people it just doesn’t come naturally.

Great topic! Also seeing a different side of Mimi. I thought she was pretty relatable and down to earth but seeing a more arrogant judgmental side in her now. Maybe it’s her own illusion to self preserve and keep her guard. I used to be like that. I learned to enjoy small talk because everyone is at different levels of comfort with themselves and small talk can become the most meaningful conversation with someone. Small talk is like the initial hello that leads to a coffee date which leads to a movie date that leads to maybe a first kiss and dating which is when deep conversation starts. Быть проще helps a lot. Mimi shows a lot of low brow vs high brow judgments. It doesn’t bother me, doesn’t make me like her less. And I still like and respect her and holding space for this version of her. No one is perfect. I still love the Ikonns. The reason why I even noticed this in Mimi in the first place is because I had this in me in the past. It felt like being in a glass box. But now that I’m out, life is full of flavors and colors. I had a great privilege of attending a very small event with the Dalaï Lama and he went from talking about holes in his socks to meaning of life without batting an eye lash. He didn’t consider himself too good to talk about a runny nose and weather. That was a transformative moment. Thank you for a great conversation Ikonns, sending love 😊❤

I'm the queen of small conversations. As Alex says, when you're curious, without being intrusive, you can talk about everything with everyone and this increases our wealth. I became aware of many little things that have never interested me but with curiosity I have deepened, managing to talk about almost everything with everyone. This is a great power in people. Then with some the discussion manages to be deeper on various topics, but only after a deeper knowledge, not immediately ♥ I can talk easly with everyone with necessarily selling them anything :D

Mimi, I'm with you, I'm a deep person who is passionate about things, and these are the things I love to talk about rather than small talk. I actually think you connect more with a person when you are having a deeper conversation with them. My definition of networking is that it's indirectly using someone for your own means. But if that works between two people, then what's the harm, but it's not my style of relationships. I would rather mispronounce someone's name rather than not use their name at all. I know how I feel if the first time I meet someone they use my christian name. It makes you feel more relaxed and that the person is more friendly and you are more likely to connect and remember that person in a good way, than not to have called them by their name at all. Love these discussions.x 😚

So much relatable regarding small/vs deep talks. Even at clubs or bars, I love to bring up the deep topics. But then my friend advised me that people come here to forget about their problems and you want to make them think about deep stuff. 😇🥰

I was an introvert stay at home mom and he was/is an outgoing extrovert gp-getter who THRIVES at business and networking conferences/seminars/meetings. He loves the interaction with new people but all I want to do is go hide out in the ladies room until it's over 😃

How do you go about find these people or opportunities to make genuine connections. We live in a small city ( still drivable to NYC) but i feel like i would never know where to look for events or anything to even TRY to make genuine connections ( i dont like the work networking, because i would love to make a genuine connection ). We went to one event and it was amazing, but the company reached out to us. This podcast episode was amazing btw

"I'm there to genuinely connect" love that line Alex. And I think that's exactly the point proving why networking is uncomfortable. Because most people genuinely don't care to connect and we can see right through that. It's kind of this implied thing that networking = you need/want something out of that interaction. I think most people are very caught up in their own lives/heads, and it takes up the space that reciprocation of questions in conversation would be expected. After listening to this I'm going to start thinking of networking as just chatting. Feels less formal and allows conversations to flow organically.
This reminds me of an old Gary Vee video about the best marketing strategy: care. And it's the same strategy in networking, just care about the person in front of you.
    ruclips.net/video/7ni3djbrjB0/видео.html
P.S. I've been following you both, maybe 8 or 9 years now?! I even had the chance to meet you both at one of your meet-ups back in the day in Central Park and I am so excited you're back chatting and making videos. To me, you both are the OGs of vlogging and what's now called "content creators" lol. Little do most know that it's always been about connection for you both and genuinely bringing value to your community. Everything was always intentional and I appreciate that so much about the two of you. I'll never forget Alex saying the 4 pillars of what you put out there - Quality, Value, Consistency, Authenticity. I carry these with me always.
    xx, Laura
