Great video! Super helpful thank you! Would you be open to doing a video for when it asked the question “was this work done outside of the US” and then the follow up question “are you filing your taxes/deductibles elsewhere” - many thanks!
Yes. You can file for your business this way if you’re a sole proprietor. Make sure to check into your business type and whether or not you need to file separately from your personal taxes.
Hey so i reported my personal taxes together with my Etsy business tax like you did with your RUclips and your wages income too. Do we have to redo our business tax on a separate page or we are finished filing for the year? Because I keep on getting messages saying i need to file by 09/16/2024 but I already filed my Etsy stuff along with my wages and income. I hope this is unnderstandable.
It depends on your tax situation/company type. More info here: ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/sole-proprietorship/file-business-personal-taxes-together/L0GTsGE9R_US_en_US If you filed together and qualify under those specifications, then you don’t need to file again. If you made an error and don’t qualify for the combined filing, you’ll want to correct your filing and file separately.
To file self-employed, they suggest premium, which is $119 for federal returns. However, if you’re like me, and you only have a little bit of side income from sources, like RUclips, or Facebook marketplace, then you can get away with putting it down as other income in the income section. I did this last year using the deluxe version, which cost $59. If you have a more complicated self-employment situation, and you need to report things like a rental property or work expenses and detailed income, then you might want to consider premium.
If you have a legitimate business that’s registered and kept separate from your personal finances, you can file through their business tax option. Similar, but more about your business and less about personal data and information.
If they’re earning money through it from other services, yes! If you have partnerships that are paying you even if RUclips isn’t, it’s an income-earning business!
Amazing guide! This really broke it down. I really appreciate it!

How are you answering these questions? Was your work done outside the US?
Yes! I’m based in the UK at the moment.

Does this apply to work for self-employed with an LLC?

How much will turbo tax charge me for doing my own tax with self employment income?

If you have a legitimate business that’s registered and kept separate from your personal finances, you can file through their business tax option. Similar, but more about your business and less about personal data and information.
Even if someone doesn't have 1,000 subs yet, could they still use their RUclips channel as a their own business?
If they’re earning money through it from other services, yes! If you have partnerships that are paying you even if RUclips isn’t, it’s an income-earning business!
