Beautiful tour! I'm amazed as to how much you can get in terms of space and beauty for so little money! What is the neighborhood like? Safe? Convenient to shop and transportation? Are you right in the city? Makes me want to come to the DR and take a look. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! 😊 It is a safe neighborhood due to being a gated community. Within the community there is a small plaza, a Bravo supermarket and Smartfit gym. It’s not right in the city but there are public transportation cars to get into the city. It does help to visit and get a feel for the different parts of the city!
Very nice. The flower poster/ picture in the living room looks familiar. What do the wall hangings in the bathroom and on the other door say? Thanks for the tour.
Thanks! The one on the bathroom door is the footprints poem and the others are from an old calendar you had given me, with quotes from Chuck Swindoll, Chip Ingram, Greg Laurie, etc. 😊
$275 a month is a good deal specially for 3 bedrooms in that place, and i also saw your monthly budget, after that i came to see this one, you are paying less than a $1000 a month for a descent living there, that would had been my dream budget if i decide to move to the DR, but there's a problem, immigration services require $1,500 a month for retirement visa, it just unjust to be requiring this amount for a retired person, if people over there, live with less than $1000 a month, what a croaker, hopefully they change this $1,500 a month minimum to retire there, doesn't make sense at all, but it is what it is, i guess a 2 bedroom apartment will be cheaper than the 3 bedroom that you are residing in at this time!!
Oh man, that does seem unfair! 😥 I guess they just want to make sure people will have enough money, but I agree, that doesn’t seem very realistic for a retired person. I hope they change it as well!
If you want to have a car what I recomment for safety reasons, for not being ruined paying taxis and to have the liberty to go where you want and when you want, you really have to count with 1500 US. That is if you want to have a little bit of quality life and eat and drink quality food and decent housing... don't suppose you come to live in the DR to survive... everything is more expensive than you think especially medical care therefore the 1500 us that immigration service requires is really a realistic budget you'll need for ONE person ... I live here now for almost 4 years and the DR became far from cheap like it was years ago.
It’s all a trap. What do you mean 1,500 A MONTH? For what? To put up with all the blaring noise from the nonstop scooters? From blaring Batchata music everywhere you go? For having to watch snatchers constantly? Not to mention the disorganized bumper to bumper traffic that is not regulated? Hell no!!
Thank you so much for the info.. Will be visiting DR this December for the first time.. coming in Santo Domingo for two weeks.. any advice, where to stay? Any will be appreciated.. Thanks
If you’re planning to stay just in Santo Domingo, I had a good experience staying at the Hotel Class Colonial in the Colonial Zone. There are also lots of other beautiful places to visit if you want to move around the country. Las Terrenas, Samaná, Punta Cana and Barahona are a few I’ve been to. Hope that helps!
How is the internet where you are? I lived in Santo Domingo Este when I first arrived in Santo Domingo and the internet was not good. We were in a build and loved the space, but myself and my two girls work online and the net is super important. I'm looking at the prices in Este and would like to try to move there again but, I'm concerned about the internet. Any feedback you can give would be great.
Hi! I don’t have any problems with the wifi in my apartment, except for maybe a very rare once in a while that it wouldn’t load any pages for 2-3 minutes. When we first got the contract with Claro, we selected a speed that would be sufficient for me to work online. There were many higher speeds of internet and recently they’ve just increased our speed free of charge (haven’t noticed the rare 2-3 minutes lag since then). If you mean cellular data, that isn’t so great inside my apartment, but if I go up to the roof I have a full four bars. Hope this helps!
I do have a degree but it’s in English Language & Literature, not education. There was definitely a lot to learn going into teaching, but doing the online TEFL course really helped give me an idea where to start. I think tutoring online is the best option for me, as teaching in person was much more demanding. I think it’s worth giving a try! Best of luck!
@@kara.g. Just found your page in RUclips, also living in Santo Domingo Este and realised that we probably shop in the same Bravo... ;0)) ... Next time going to be more atentive during my shopping and maybe one day I'll meet you there to have a short chat... Great and realistic video ! Not like a lot of Americans and Canadians showing of on RUclips and living with budgets between three and five thousand plus us dollars monthly and thinking that this is cheap in comparison with the US and Canada...but far from "normal" in the DR where an average monthly wage is about 300 US dollar. those are the ones spoiling everything and giving the impression to the Dominicans that all white people, Europeans, Gringos and Canadians are millionairs...
Where is this location? Can you send me the location. I bought a house in Punta Cana and looking for something small in Santo Domingo. I visit there quite frequently

@@kara.g. Hi. Thanks for the info. I was going to ask you the same questions. I plan to visit SD in September. Are you still living in SD?
