Jasmine, please dress like the locals to get a good deal on items when visiting any market in Africa, esp. outside of Ghana (my survival secret when visiting the motherland). Thanks for the video.
When i visited a nice area in ghana i noticed people had lower walls but they also had electric fencing or barbwire. Most Togolese homes expensive or not do a high wall. Our home we are building has a high wall.
Oh Jasmine you are sooooo right about Markola market! It's such a big market and very overwhelming and being "obroni" I almost feel like I'm being run down whenever I go😂😂😂. I was in Lome just for a few hours, waiting at the airport to go to Ghana and you're right about the language barrier...if you don't speak French or Ewe...you better figure it out fast...lol! I almost got on the wrong plane😂 Luckily there were several ppl who spoke English going to Ghana, so I attached myself to them and became an honorary family member 😂😂😂. Ghana's GDP is way higher than Togo but I definitely understand your sentiment about the socio-economic disparity. Unfortunately, you see that in many countries. In my homeland, Haiti, it's very obvious. The countries in Latin America that I visited like Brazil, it's quite obvious as well. When you have a caring mindset and heart, things like that upset you. I hope that we will get to see you travel to other African cities in the future. Thank you for being real and showing it!
I also wanted to point out in most markets in Haiti, you change to try on clothes in the open view for anyone to see unless people hide you behind a curtain or makeshift human shield😂
