I played the og Afterburner 1& 2 a lot back in the day. I bought an Afterburner Climax arcade cabinet a few years ago and I play it more than my PS4. Lovin' it!

At a garage sale for 2000$. It was in really good condition but the feature that makes you sick

My local arcade used to have the Climax Commander cab, and THEY REPLACED IT WITH NEED FOR SPEED CARBON CAUSE MY FRIENDS AND I WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO PLAYED IT! I understand it's only about 7 people out of all your customers but some of the employees knew we loved that game, and gave us free plays every once in a long while lol

We've got a lot of them in Russia. We even have a ton of F-Zero AX arcade machines, and you probably know how rare they are, especially today.

Just realizing that this game exists. I appreciate that they left the original soundtrack somewhat untouched.

This is the real After Burner III in my opinion, and not that shitty fake one released on Sega Mega CD that was just a poor port of Strike Fighter with replaced music.

I am really quite mad at myself for missing this game at the time, and i'm having to watch (a admittedly) cool play through on YT. Looks a very good run mate.
This was me with outrun on PS3. Totally missed it...
I wish they would remaster this game, it looks awesome despite being almost 20 years old!
What blows my mind about this is that it looks at least as good as MACH 3, the old laserdisc game by Mylstar, yet the graphics are rendered in real time, rather than video footage with sprites pasted on top of it. And it's from 2006!

well, looking at the canyon mission, in some places the canyon looks eh 1 km wide? considering these trees. And the plane seems to pass the distance of a canyon width in about 1 second, so that would be over mach 3.

Yeah, Sega had temporary licenses to the trademarked vehicles in both games, and when the licenses lapsed, they couldn't publish any more copies.
Far different situation than the 80s when you just slapped the vehicle in and changed the name(maybe).
I don't get why Sega keep using licensed vehicles and objects in their games knowing that it will cause an issue later down the line. Would anyone have loved a game like this any less if it had just used generic aircraft designs?

I know in the past that I’m the reloading refueling stage the plane would land and then the car from OUTRUN or motorcycle from HANG ON would race you taking off.
They should bring that back but have Sonic the Hedgehog show up there.

I'm only a minute in, so maybe this changes or maybe the first minute isn't jaw dropping to people that play, but my jaw is dropped.

This is what my brain thiught I was playing as a kid.
Funny how this was pretty much universally praised by critics, while a similar concept Space Harrier remake was torn apart in Sega Classics Collection..

The games has modes that you can unlock by playing and earning milestones. Its called EX options.

Hi i cant buy this game so i cant try it. How do u play it on the phone. Does it autofire or do u hafto click. Can u fly left and right as far as u want or is it fixed. Can u dive down into the water/ground and crash. And the same with up to the clouds. :)
