  • This unique story spans a decade and follows one of Tanzania’s most powerful lion prides as they overcome mounting obstacles by relying on strong family bonds. We first meet our star lioness when she’s a cub, and follow her ascent to matriarch during the ever-increasing dry seasons along the Ruaha River. She endures tragedy and enjoys triumph, but she is always the indomitable force behind her pride’s success -- or failure. As the years pass, the lioness is forced to make a monumental decision for the entire cat family in order to ensure the pride’s legacy - and allow them to survive.

      They don't actually film for ten years. They use cuts from random younger lions to cubs then edit them into the storyline of the lion in modern day.

    Beautiful documentary! The best one I’ve seen in awhile. Lionesses are amazing, very intelligent and true Matriarchs. Only con about the show was blurring images. This is nature “The Circle of Life” and natural so in a sense it’s almost disrespectful to nature when images are blurred.

    I find it interesting and very important that more nature videos lately are making specific mention of the drastic and devastating effects of global climate change on ecosystems everywhere. I'm an evolutionary biologist, and I know that environment together with genetic variation are the main driving factors in evolution.

    • @Monk-eee
      @Monk-eee 4 месяца назад +5

      well I mean it's about time they do, right!? We've only been talking about it and trying to get the point across for 20+ years now. When will people start to listen and actually take it seriously? After it's too far gone, which TBH I think we're past the point of no return anyways. We've done so much damage to this planet it's irreversible and will take decades to undo even one year of damage we put out onto this planet. Ours kids kids will not know many of the animals we know today only in books or online accountabilities because they will sadly be extinct. When we can do something to stop that today, yesterday and years ago but haven't. It's tragic.....

    • @8888Rik

      @@Monk-eee Yes, I completely agree. I was just reading about the des[air among climatologists that the we're certainly going to blow right through the target 1.5C rise in global temperatures, and are heading unavoidably for an astonishing and deadly 3C rise in temperature.

    • @angru_arches
      @angru_arches Месяц назад +1

      @@Monk-eee No no no... We're not all tree hugging nature worshippers...
      People in Africa and other impoverished areas will continue to put the well-being of their people first. Nobody can think of disappearing species when their own children are hungry. We will start caring for ecology when, like you, we have gotten wealthy.
      Don't 25 species disappear each day regardless of human behavior. And don't we have more trees today in the Northern Hemisphere than we did 100 years ago? Isn't the "warming" good for plant life? I think the whole movement is deeply anti-human and especially anti-poor-humans who need cheap energy to survive. More people perish from the cold than the heat anyway.

    • @angru_arches
      @angru_arches Месяц назад +1

      @@8888Rik The ideology aside though, those global policies to "curtail" the warming only harms the poor in impoverished countries mostly. Making it even more expensive to do life.
      But earth worship is not shared across cultures. We love the earth and we are responsible for it, but in the proper hierarchy of priorities.
      First take care of people, so those people can take care of nature .. we're quickly going to experience declining human population once we hit 9 billion. And we're going to face the new challenges of deficits in human capital.
      The planet is greener and our nurseries emptier...if you celebrate that, a soul search is in order.
