    That was brutal. What bothered me most was Russ's decision making. Running for 3 yds instead of tossing the ball away to save time on that final drive. Many other examples but that was a basic one we all were scratching our heads about. Great play design on Muth's TD.

      Well this is the "VETERAN" decision making Tomlin sacrificed fields potential to open up the offense with his athleticism for.

    • @rohangondor6250
      @rohangondor6250 7 дней назад +1

      Right. Making good decisions as an experienced vet is supposed to be one of his major plus points and compensate for his lack of mobility. And it certainly wasn't his only boneheaded mistake during this losing streak.

    It's Tomlin, if the steelers had Lamar, Mahomes or Allen we would still score 17pts.

  • @verginithe

    This is Tomlins offense. Looks just like last year's under Canada & Pickett. Deep throws down the sideline or check downs. Lots of sacks and not allot of points. It's the exact same thing. Russ was way better when he first started but recently has regressed under tomlins tutelage

  • @theresa6837
    @theresa6837 8 дней назад +10

    I’m not a Tomlin hater but I’m @ the point where I think it’s time to 🔥it all down. They finished 10-7 same record as last yr w/Pickett. GP played like a dude looking for the exits. Wilson’s decisions = awful & can’t utilise the entire field. The entire team outside of Boz/Heyward has regressed. Game plan was awful & execution even worse. HC refuses to change & learn so why would his players? D has given up scores on opening drives to opponents & the O operating from a hole for how many games now? Only to hear HC say beginnings of games don’t matter when losing by 1 score?
    Found a way to beat Joe Burrow a few weeks ago only to do 180 from that game plan to go back to a strategy of losing football.
    They’re going to get creamed in the Wild Card round again.
    🔥 it.

  • @justinnowlin2948
    @justinnowlin2948 7 дней назад +1

    That was extremely tough to watch. After the first half I was ready for Fields to come in. I have no idea why Tomlin won’t pull the trigger this second time around because Russ looks horrendous. I think if we put Fields in, stop running the toss play, and avoid turnovers. We can still win next week. But throwing the same stuff out there that we have the past 4 weeks will not get us a different result and I do not see how Tomlin doesn’t see that.

  • @BK-gh9us
    @BK-gh9us 8 дней назад +4

    This was a debacle, pure and simple. I had a message ready to type, but there is so many fingers to point. They should’ve been able to move the ball all day, and our pass rush was getting going on Burrow so no reason to not do well there (and they did, as you say). The offense though… just smdh. And next week in BAL? This is essentially a bye week for them. Ain’t no way we’re going to slow them down. No way

    Great stuff as usual DB. Very frustrating night. Went from thinking we'd be able to win at Houston next week if everything shook out seeding wise, but I don't think we have a shot in Baltimore as it stands now. Even if the Raiders somehow beat the Chargers today, I now have little to no confidence they can beat the Texans now either

    They stubbornly try to establish the run, and then failing that, they end up putting too much pressure on 3rd down (often 3rd and long, but they even often fail on 3rd and short as well). The offense showed some promise the first game against the Bengals…but it was short-lived.

    Is there a good explanation for the complete disappearance of play action from the gameplan? Art has called play action on first downs and second and longs all year even when the run game struggled. It’s a good way to ease the burden on the tackles and keep the linebackers honest, which might make the angles better on those toss plays, right?

    I’m finally at the new coach phase. We need legitimate coaching. Mike is the last thread of mediocre holding this team back. This is just frustrating as a fan to be irrelevant in December in January and be a write off, automatic win for the other team. Every year the fans have to watch their defense play the other teams offense all game all year. Goddam this team can even run but try their hardest to be one knowing they can’t. Is it truly this hard to build an nfl offense? For Mike it seems impossible

    I thought for sure we could get our offense going against Bengals d but just got going too late. It was nice to see the D play well with Bishop and Trice showing up well. Also, Mike Williams made a great catch. We finally have a mostly healthy roster going into the playoffs. We've certainly learned who's who on this team at this point. Anything is possible.

    I said a over a month ago, when they lost to the Cowboys, and Pickens eye paint said "Always fucking open".
    They should've traded his ass. He's really talented, but what you do only matters when it counts.
    He seems to melt down when it really matters.
    What the hell you think he'd do deep in the playoffs?!
    Trade his ass!

  • @Zauun17
    @Zauun17 7 дней назад +1

    First of all, I didn't even watch the full game, man. This team just crushed my spirit these past weeks and it's not even the losses, it's HOW they lost. They're not even putting up a fight. I guess this game they kinda did on the 4th quarter, but by the end of the 3rd they were ready to lie down and take the L.
    Literally all 3 phases of this team has fallen part. Can someone pull the statistics of steelers offense/defense/ST since the browns loss?
    Also, who is responsible for the defensive play calling? Is it TA? Tomlin?
    How in the hell do you leave your 7th round pick who has barely played ANY games on an island with the NFL's best receiver? I almost lost my freaking mind on that first TD to chase.
    Someone please convince me that is not coaching malpractice. Like, how does that happen? Someone please tell me I am not crazy. Someone from the defensive side of the coaching staff NEEDS TO F***ING GO MAN!!!!!!!!!! This is insanity.
    One last thing... DB please tell me we are bringing back JF next season and not Russ. I need some copium to push through this, man....
    At this point, just put Fields in on the playoffs. This team CLEARLY isn't going anywhere. To me it makes no difference if they go 0-1 or 1-1, it doesn't make me feel any better. They are clearly an incompetent and incomplete football team all the way around.
    This way you can at least see a little bit more of Fields before you have to make a decision at QB. That's all I want, man.
    With Fields at least there is HOPE that you can develop him to be great. All the attributes are there, man. Just try and develop the guy. Russ is almost 40. There is no developing or improvements, the offense just has to model itself completely to how he plays (Which they very clearly can't) and we've seen the results of that these past weeks.

    • @Zauun17
      @Zauun17 7 дней назад

      Also, Dan Moore finally showing his true colors on this final stretch. At the start of the year I actually thought he would be playing himself into a decent contract lol.
      He probably will get picked up and start somewhere else just because of the lack of talent and I bet he will probably do way better. Same as Kevin Dotson, who went from the worst OL on the roster to being a pro-bowler level talent on his first year out of Pit.
      At this point I'm just spitting nonsense, man. So frustrated.....

    It’s like they don’t self scout. We have a great pass rush. They have a great QB. You’re going to get quick game. Why don’t they know this going into the game? This is why they couldn’t beat Tom Brady. They treat CB like a second class position and put all their eggs in the pass rush basket. Against 26 NFL teams that philosophy will work. The best QB’s carve is up because we lack talent outside. It’s been the same story for over a decade.

    The series where the offense couldn't get one yard on multiple tries and essentially handed the Bengals 3 points was utterly pathetic and disappointing.

    The Steelers don’t deserve to be going ANYWHERE next week. That offense is an atrocious, dysfunctional mess, and doesn’t have a prayer of scoring consistently on any of the defensive units they’ll be playing. And the Steelers don’t scare anyone, they haven’t for years now. They’re just a laughing stock for all other franchises in the NFL.

    This isnt a team that likes to run imo. Mike and Arthur like to run and Arthur force feeds it. Steelers are near the bottom in run efficiency and near bottom in pass and receiving. Offensive incompetence man. The gameplan they had the first game was non existent in this one. Tomlin cant hire competent offensive minds and the offense just seems to be an afterthought every season. Ive been a Tomlin supporter but he’s a problem this organization may need to move away from.

  • @ericthurman1050

    I think a few things:
    1. Tomlin is Russ guy and refuses to be wrong.
    2. Russ is who he is. He is boom or bust. He will go deep or dump it off. The first few weeks the league was not sure who he was but now all defenses just take away the deep ball and Russ panicks.
    3. Pittsburgh offense is far too predicable. Slow starts, BOOM /BUST Russ, GP quits, toss plays into oblivion, if they play Justin he is only a runner. EVERYONE knows what they are doing.
    4. When the Steelers bring Russ back they will need build the Offense around what he does. You will need at least a RB to replace Najee. You will need a DEEP BALL/ CONTESTED CATCH WR, you will need Roman Wilson and CA3 to be your slot guys and Friermuth to be your main weapons.
    5. Tomlin over relies on turnovers.
    6. GP would not be my number 1 and I think he quit on the team. He heard Russ blamed him for the pick and he feels overly criticized in reporter interviews and you can see the frustration.
