Lawrence - thank you for an excellent video. I am an Architect and need to collect/collate; as you state: " Dirty Scans". Inserting a measuring pole into the Lidar sketch-info, they give me the basic building form from which I can interpolate section, plan. Thus, building structure related to vernacular details. I am talking about working in the Far East where I am just now. Having the ability to collect both the specific building elevation; to be surveyed on-the-fly, and approximate heights, in addition to adjacent buildings, is very useful to me. Thank you so much for this video as it tells me enough to know how and where I need to use my skills to record and detail the necessary information to my archives. Already, while rcording the disappearing traditional building heritage, one day I went off to collect my survey gear and within that day, the particular building listed was demolished and disappeared. Therefore, this form of recording buildings is invaluable to me.
Thanks for this. I got excited about using my iPad of archaeology here in coastal BC Canada. I agree, I was let down with my initial use of this and the iPad lidar is just a decent starting point.
