The final section of the smash hit musical Les Misérables, known as the Epilogue. It begins with Jean Valjean alone, singing to himself, at the end of his days, counting the hours until he can sleep. His daughter, Cosette rushes in to see him, on this night; her wedding night to Marius.
In this song all is revealed to Cosette about her past: Her mother, Fantine, and Valjean's true role in this tale. Marius also states his revelation in the understanding that Valjean had saved his life on the night he was wounded on the barricade.
The ghosts of Fantine and Eponine return, to take Valjean home, as his lifelong promise has been fulfilled. As they are passing into the next world, all of the fallen reprise "Do you hear the people sing?" in a glorious finale that rings out with words of the end to bloodshed, putting away the sword, and earning their reward in heaven.
This is my personal favorite part of the entire show, I meticulously put this together by ear, dissecting each moment, listening for each instrument of the orchestra, and what it does at different times. I'm really happy with how this turned out, sound wise, it's very accurate, and sounds very realistic. Better, I think, than the few other instrumental versions on RUclips. The video synchronizes the lyrics in a scrolling fashion - it's important that you know what the melody is, and what to sing when. There are some tricky parts, for example Cosette and Marius' entry.
Also, there are some interestingly timed bars of music in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4.. When Eponine returns, she sings along with Fantine, but sings in harmony.
The final line "To love another person is to see the face of God"... rings out, while the chorus comes in. To guide the timing during what is actually a completely choral section, there is a quiet snare drum hit on beats 1 and 3, with a slight roll on 4. The words "Do you hear the people sing..." would be sung such that the word "Hear" falls on the first guide snare - "Do you" are a pickup. Once the Cello starts, it becomes easier to follow along.
This is a large ensemble piece, so though Karaoke is traditionally for 1, this could be cast for 30.. During the 2 1/2 bars of "Ahhhhhh" before the final "Tomorrow comes", the harmonies are tricky. The three chords are basically:
    Ab7sus4(no 5)
    Gm/Ab
    Dbm/Ab
And on the word "comes!", Ab.
All built from SATB, where the bass has the Ab.
    Enjoy!
