This literally happens to me on FUT Champs every fucking weekend about 100 times, defending is absolutely shit on this game. Going back to PES rather than this broken wank of a game

Very well organized tutorial video covering all the possible situations if certain things don't work. Most other tutorial videos just tell you what to do for one thing but don't tell you how to deal with another situation if the tactic you used didn't work

The L1 player switching is totally fucked! Sometimes it takes the worst option not the closest one!
L1 will always switch to the player closest to the ball
Thats what it should be but believe me sometimes its switch to a random player who is totally not the closest i received alot of goals because of that ill try to record some games and send it to you to approve my point
And if u want to quick check just when your opponent kick off try to use it and see how it will change to the RB or LW while the ball between your both CB and CDM 😉👍
+BorasLegend. L1 DOES NOT ALWAYS SWITCH TO THE PLAYER CLOSEST TO THE BALL. It should! But it doesn't. And this has been the case for a good few years of FIFA, and my BIGGEST pet hate about the game. It's like a lottery. Sometimes L1 will switch to the closest player, but most of the time it doesn't. So you panic and start pressing L1 repeatedly so that control ends up cycling past the player you wanted to another player. And by then it's too late to correct it because your opponent has scored. Right-stick switching is a good way to overcome this, but hard to do when you have many players in and around each other. When defending a corner, for example.
You change faster with right joystick. L1 changes like crazy

1. I concede many goals bcus I do not know how to stop 1 - 2 passing.
2. How do u do a ground pass from within the box to ur player who is standing at the center of the opponent ' s goal territory? Bcus whenever I try to do so, there is always a defender covering my player to whom I intend to pass. All my pass inside the box are always intercepted.

This is an amazing tactic, for the oponent to score me 7 goals... let me explain myself... if i hold with L2 my oponent easily score long shot, if i aggressively run towards him to get the ball he starts dribbling and passing so my players let holes in the defense... i guess This needs a lot of practice

Ok most people gonna say this help me a lot but this help me a bit cause when I switch it so bad it switches to wrong player and if I tackle them or intercept the defenders/midfielders do a stupid lunge and the ball goes back to the opponent

Do you always tacle with the « standing tacle » ? Some players dont use it and just rush on the opponenent.

try pressing and hold L1 while defending you'll see it will jockey automatic even the defender are much quicker while pressing and holding this button

Nice tutorial. But i wish you would have mentioned somewhere, how bad defending really is in FIFA18. Even if you position perfectly, the ball will go trough your legs. Your perfect tackles and interceptions will put the ball back into the attackers feel very often. Or how about the extremely annoying automatic-interception-animation when the ball is out of reach, so basicly the computer ruins the chance for you to stop a counter. Because let's face it, 90% of the goals against come from counters.

I mainly use agressive defence but my internet connection is not that good so it's so hard to have a clean sheet
My defending is, most of the time, good enough. The problem is that when i'm standing ahead with 1-0 there's a very bad period between the 70th and 80th minute where i give the win away and lose 1-2. Do you have any tips to survive that period and secure the win? If so i'd end up much higher :)
Its just EA giving a boost to the losing party I think. Having the same sometimes that everything starts to go wrong. You just need to keep possession I think and not to attack. This way making the chances lower for the opposition to score. Maybe do a lot of back passes or something. I am trying to figure that out to.

gais remember even if u defend well sometimes you will still conseed goals the game is just very cheezy some times and power of kick of is just nuts some times my full backs are acting like they are drunk

If i’m in a 1v1 situation I’m holding L2 buy if he’s going to shoot or trying to pass my defender most of the times I tackle wrong, and while juggling I go to the wrong side. And i’m practicing thst everyday but it won’t work i don’t make a progress.
