The songs weren't cheesy because they fitt the decade with all the fads in th' 70s. The 1970s seems like an amazing era to live unlike todqy where everything is censored.

Exactly. Because they may have been cheesy and whatnot, but there was attention paid to the lyrics and detail to the music, plus there was a sweetness and sincerity to the songs and artists. Even the ones that alluded to sex weren't blatant and gross like today. 70's music rules!!

It's not easy to read about a particular era in history and truly understand what folks were experiencing. Those of us who grew up through the 60s and 70s knew these were oddities and that was OK. Life is all about being unique, different, even odd. Nobody says that popularity has to be forever. And yes, there were far worse than these too. Tunes like these were performed by the pied pipers of our time to lead us away from the mundane (and chaotic) world for a minute or two.

The argument could be made, though, that his "Run Joey Run" with it's over-the-top melodrama (daddy please don't, it wasn't his fault, he means so much to me..yeesh) might be slightly cheesier, with ol' Daddy shooting his daughter instead of Joey and her last words...but they are both great.

Olivia Newton-John a 1 hit wonder? A quick scan of the US Billboard Hot 100 for the 70’s says otherwise (let me help you with your research!).
    1. "You're the One That I Want" (with John Travolta), No. 1 (one week), June 10, 1978
    2. "A Little More Love," No. 3, Feb. 17, 1979
    3. "Please Mr. Please," No. 3, Aug. 9, 1975
    4. "Have You Never Been Mellow," No. 1, March 8, 1975
    5. "I Honestly Love You," No. 1 (two weeks), Oct. 5, 1974
    6. "Let Me Be There," No. 6, Feb. 9, 1974
    7. “Hopelessly Devoted To You," No. 3, Sept. 23, 1978
    8. “Summer Nights" (with John Travolta), No. 5, Sept. 30, 1978
    9. “If You Love Me (Let Me Know), No. 5, June 29, 1974
    10. “Something Better To Do," No. 13, Nov. 1, 1975
    11. “Deeper Than the Night," No. 11, June 9, 1979
If you include her 80’s hits as well; 4 Grammy’s; 5 US #1’s; 10 top 10’’s; 11 certified gold singles; & with over 100 million albums sold, she is one of the biggest selling artists of all time! Think you got that one wrong mate!
