It's actually impressive how bad the movie is.
Azula is 14 in Atla. so this casting choice is genius. a bit less threatening than the original source material but if she nails the acting and the voice damn, I'm excited for her.

to be fair, Azula looks fine, and she doesnt look scary, her actions make her threatening. people just love to nitpick
azula doesn’t look scary, the way she acts and talks is what makes her scary. the girl isn’t going to be able to do the voice of azula, but maybe she can come up with her own interpretation that’s as maniacal.

Yeah they really ruined Aang in the movie. He was so moody and serious whereas in the show, he's still very much an innocent kid who loves being a goofball and playing around. That's what wee need to see

IDK what everyone else's is saying. I think Azula looks pretty evil already. The shot and the fire reflecting of her eyes was an amazing choice!
8:10 don't forget tho, the actress for Azula is 21 rn. When this show was filmed it was 2021 -> she was 18. That means by the time S2 comes out she'll probably be 23-24 and look much older and more accurate for the "evilness". if you look at her pictures from lately she already looks more like azula than here
Azula is supposed to be cute, makes it that much scarier when she starts talking crazy and trying to cook you alive with lightning.

This does indeed look promising. All I'm worried about now is similar to what Nicholas said, the voice acting, name pronunciation, and other stuff, but what I'm MAINLY worried is the BENDING. So far, the fire bending seem amazing, I need to see more on the air bending, and I have yet to see any water and earth bending
i think Azula looks perfect for the role, she’s supposed to be young, innocent but you know she’s crazy inside

Appa and Momo are Physical AND CG vfx
Ty Lee and Mai are cast as well (I think Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee are gonna be more in Zuko's backstory but I could be wrong and I'm open to it)
CG still has up until release to get done and they've already been at it for 18 months.
I think they are doing one hour long episodes so it works out (2 half hour episodes combined to make 1 hour episodes). That leaves 16 episodes combined to 8 episodes. They'll probably leave out the episodes that had no significant plot point for the series like the Great Divide.
@ERRATAS0342 8 1 hour episodes to cover book 1 makes it 20 minutes longer than the original series. And once you drop the filler you realize JUST how much room they have to work with for character moments and story beats.

Its funny how you said that they are actually using Asians this time while talking about Zuko, and then proceeded to show his actor in the previous adaptation, Zuko, who was then played by the Slumdog actor, Dev Patel, who actually IS an Asian (Indian).

It’s a minor detail. I think it’s being exaggerated on by some fans. It looks fine. Actor looks great. His facial expressions will be crucial to the acting. So imagine not being able to see that if he had half of his face all black and burnt.

Considering decorations behind her, this is probably Azula from past. During Agni Kai between Firelord Ozai and young Zuko.

Azula is suppose to be a child, it was Grey DeLisles voice acting that sold her as more mature but we know what that ended up doing to her mind in the end.
That and the fire nation garb makes both Zuko and Azula look older to be more intimidating.
Imagine all the other epic scenes in the a tv series to be brought to life at that level of creative production. I can’t wait for the earth bending and seeing Toff; and when they go to the earth kingdom, black sun, and past lives flashback.

Also, my guess is the narrator is Roku, perhaps during the Solstice episode.
I think the narrator is Gyatso talking to Aang about the future before being killed. It doesn't really sound like a thing Roku would say ''always remember who you are'' that's someone who knows him better and is a mentor kinda thing Gyatso would say. Also at the start of the trailer you see the genocide, so I'm guessing we start off before the war. Gyatso telling Aang those things when he finds out he's the Avatar, but can't forget who he is. Then Aang runs away, we see the genocide and then cut to him being found in the ice.
As another HUGE Avatar fan (literally have the elements tattoo'd on me in the way Iroh drew them to Zuko with a cool design), LET'S GO FEBRUARY. I've been pretty hopeful for years weirdly enough, I just figured, they know what NOT to do. Appa looked better in the original picture that was released already so I gained hope from that... Even though the creators left, that never bothered me. Now let's hope it pays off. See you in February!
