Weird All Yankovic is the greatest parody artist of all time. I grew up with his early stuff in the 80's and can name songs of his for every stage in my life. You really need to check out more of Weird All. He's just truly amazing. And, seriously, who doesn't love good music that can make you laugh at the absurdity of it?
Weird Al has been around for a long time, does parody songs of a lot of popular songs with some goofy theme. Probably most famous for his "Eat It" and "Fat" music videos, parodying Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and "Bad" songs and "White and Nerdy" for Chamillionaire's "Ridin Dirty"
You don't know who weird Al is?! He's hilarious! He's a genius! He makes fun of all kinds of songs, parodies anyway! Glad you're getting to see one of America's comedic Legends!
As others have said, Weird Al is a singer, comedian, and much more. This is one of the parodies he did, "Amish Paradise". This parody was based on Coolio's hit song: "Gangsta's Paradise". As the story goes, Weird Al called up Coolio to ask him 'Can I make a song based off your Gangsta Paradise?'. And at first Coolio was ok with the idea, then Coolio felt it was disgraceful, so Coolio called Weird Al back up and asked him NOT to make the song. However, Weird Al had already recorded the song and it was going out. So out it went and people loved it! However, Coolio did not. Before Coolio died he had come to accept the song, but not like it. It keeps his song in the public's mind, and he wound up appreciating that part.
Apparently Coolio eventually said to himself 'Coolio, who the _hell_ do you think you are? This is the guy Michael Jackson gave free rein to parody whatever songs the guy pleases (minus Black and White).'
Weird Al has been a favorite in my family from childhood. He is such a gifted, hilarious guy. He does both parodies and some original humorous songs. Fun to watch your introduction to his work. You picked a fun one to start with. Definitely recommend you find more and keep on listening/watching. 🙂
No Weird Al is not Amish. He takes popular songs, and changes the lyrics to make them funny. He has been successful at this for 40+ years. And his rabbit hole has no bottom. Some of his more popular songs: Like a Surgeon Fat Smells like Nirvana All about the Pentiums Headline News Albuquerque Pretty Fly for a Rabbi White and Nerdy
Weird AL is the King of Parody Songs. He has been doing these parodies of famous popular songs since the 1970's. Some of his best songs are; Fat White & Nerdy The Saga Begins Tacky Trapped in the Drive-Thru I Love Rocky Road Eat it Like a Surgeon Handy Another One Rides the Bus I Perform that Way All about the Pentiums ... and many more
Lyrics by Weird Al Yankovic. He does a parody of Gangstas Paradise, which was performed by the late Coolio. At first, he disliked 👎 it. But a few years later, he liked 👍 it. RIP Coolio, September 2022. The late Prince 🤴, RIP, is the only musician who rejected any parody from Weird Al Yankovic. Suggested parody video 📹 Weird Al Yankovic sings Eat It.
Something that most people Miss in this video, the Amish women that weird Al looks at is actually Florence Henderson, the mother from The Brady bunch!!
4:37 - At the time, Coolio hated it. You see, even though he is not legally required to do so, Weird Al always asks for permission from the original artist to do his parodies. When Al contacted Coolio, Coolio said No. Gangsta's Paradise was the song he considered his magnum opus and it communicated an important message of the plight of urban youth in America. He felt having a parody made of it would belittle the message. Unfortunately, someone in Coolio's organization decided to tell Al that Coolio HAD given him permission to do Amish Paradise. Al released it on his Bad Hair Day album and it was a big success (arguably his biggest success since Fat). Coolio made a public statement saying he had not given permission and decrying Al for ignoring him. Al apologized, but Coolio refused to accept it for many years. Years later, though, Coolio did admit to taking the issue way to seriously and they made up.
4:44 Coolio was pissed. Weird Al always gets permission to do all his Parodies (even though he legally does not need it), when he ask the studio they lied to him and told him Coolio was good with it. After this Al refused to do a parody without directly asking the artist, to avoid the issue. By the time Coolio died in 2022, hr was long over the grudge and had said he has no ill will for Al over it.
sarah, since you love music, i recommend "brothers in arms" by dire straits. it's an anti-war song, and it is just so sweet, and beautiful, and true.....the last line of the lyrics brings me to tears every time. i am not recommending it as a reaction video; i think your reaction will be too personal to share. but this song is too beautiful not to share with you.
@drstephenstrange897 it was OK, didn't finish it but for weird Al fans it definitely has the vibe. Want bad either, just didn't get around to...netflix I believe
Wondering why your videos that speak ill on African Americans or the African American experience are the only one with a large amount of views and engagement. Kinda crazy to think that your followers are only interested in your content that discounts or undermines the black experience in America
Two points. One, you seem to be misinterpreting her videos. None of them speak such ills of African Americans. They merely provide balance. Show respect for every culture and balance among all. Two, controversy garners views outside of her followers. I'm subscribed and watch most of her stuff all the same, but someone who is not subscribed is more likely to watch a contra video because of RUclips algorithms. And bonus advice, try to view her channel in a positive light. It's one person's honest reaction to various content. Whether you agree with it or not, it's good for others to be aware of and think about.
I take exception to that comment. It's almost racial in content. There's nothing racial about this channel. Your comment was mean and degrading. Shame on you.
seems a bit insecure to say that an indisputable part of history being discussed is "speaking ill on African Americans"...you should ask yourself why you get triggered by historical facts!

If Weird Al parodies your song you know you've made it 🤣🤣🤣
I have loved Weird Al ever since his first Dr. Demento appearance. Definitely listen to more!

Only three artist can say they have had Top 40 hits in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010.
Michael Jackson. Madonna. And Weird Al Yankovic.
Funny, but, sorry, Kylie Minogue actually fits in that list, at least better than MJ, especially since Michael Jackson died in 2009.
@@KittyBoom360
She did so in the UK charts yes.
@@robbob5302 And also because MJ died before the 2010s was my other point. He had no top hits after his death, obviously.
@@KittyBoom360 I am not sure. But he must have somehow. I was curious about that myself.
Possibly one or more of his songs re-entered the charts?
Ah I found it.
His posthumous album Michael was released in 2010.

The great thing about Al's parodies is that they're funny even when you don't know the original song. You need to do a lot more of Weird Al.
Yeah there's also a movie about his life, Radcliffe(Harry Potter) is him.
Weird Al is a legend!
Miss Sarah, I laughed at you laughing at Weird Al. I really enjoyed this reaction. Do some more of Weird Al .
I will, thanks 😅

Fun little bit of trivia, Al learnt how to sing the final part of the song backwards for that scene.

He does original songs too. Check out "Hardware Store" for one of them.

Oh! You don't know what a parody is, now I get it.

originally Coolio didn't want the song to be made - Weird AL got the wrong information, and made the song ... COOLIO WAS MAD FOR A LONG TIME !!
😂 now you need to react to original Gangsters Paradise....
Or the original original 'Pastime Paradise' by Stevie Wonder ..........

He who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life...
U know if I had any interest in Amish life this cured me . What a boring cult. Just the facial hair and hat. No way no how.
I suggest his song Foil😂
It’s a parody of gangster paradise
His name is Al Yankovic
Didn't we start watching his film?
What of the 2? There was one made by him(awesome), and a recent bio-film(I've heard is pretty good)🙂

Yea, that was after recording this...
Love this! It would never get radio play nowadays due to all the wokeness.
