He's gonna need a nap after that meal! I'm surprised to see that goldfish are still around. I remember when the State made a big effort to eradicate them. I think it was back in the 80's. Back in the 70's, I used to catch them in the Charles river near The Museum of Science. Sold them to the local pet store for 50 cents a piece.
Amazing footage! That looks like a huge/colorful fish (do you know what kind?) the bird caught! The fish was struggling, but the hungry Heron managed to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? It looked like the unlucky thing was desperately flapping sliding down that long throat! I wonder, does the large fish stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe it can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.
The fish is a Carp, they can get to be several colors from Brown, Orange, to Redish. To me they are big Gold fish, grown large in the wild..I doubt the fish has a chance to escape once the hungry Blue Heron gets it beak on it..Did you notice the fish has to slide down Face first other wise its fins would catch in the birds throat and most likely kill the bird..
@@BackyardprojectguyOh wow interesting! So I guess this was an older couple year old Goldfish the Heron caught. It’s a fascinating capture, that makes sense about it needing to slide in face first.. the unlucky fish already seems in that position from the start. I wonder, does the Goldfish’s struggling actually propel it quicker down? It seems balled up in the Heron’s neck toward the end too. Wouldn’t this stop the fish’s descent and it would be desperate to wriggle back up??
@@ultimatemexicano3535 ..Yea the Great Blue Heron looks like he has done this before and is in total control..Mother Nature sure works in great wonders..
@@BackyardprojectguyJust stumbled across this fascinating capture again! So the hungry Heron was able to get it down her long neck okay? I also wonder, wouldn’t this large goldfish have room to try and turn around once it landed in the stomach or within the elastic neck? I would think this particular goldfish can stand a chance.
@@ultimatemexicano3535 I would think the stomach muscles are to tight and to strong to let the fish move at all. The birds must swallow the fish head first so the fins dont stop it going down the neck
