    Very hard to watch a driver being thrown out of his truck in the middle of nowhere. We don't know the whole story there, but it is what it is. I drove semi for over 30 years for several different companies. I seen this happen a few times where they told the driver to park the truck, & they refuse thinking they have it for their ride home. As we can all se they never make it very far. Very costly to the company & very costly to the driver. Great decision on the rear tow.

    • @spencers4121
      @spencers4121 Год назад +3

      The cop said what happened, he was "fired" and instead of returning the truck. He was going to take it down to his home in Florida, guy didn't want to rent a car, or fly back home.
      This is often why a company will route a driver back to a terminal first, then fire them. I think it's shitty of a company to fire a driver on the road, then expect their truck to be returned. Personally a driver should be able to leave it were it sits, but you will get slapped with abandoning the truck. Which can hurt you getting another driving job.

    You never know who is at fault when a driver if fired and told to turn in his truck. With on-board cameras and GPS, the company knows where the truck is. Just like when Celadon went belly up, they stranded hundreds of drivers, and no way to get home. Fuel cards turned off, no cash advances and no final paycheck.
    Unless the truck was part of a fleet account I had, I pulled driveshafts or axles depending on which was easier. A few minutes with an impact gun and the axle shaft is out. A foam plug kept the oil from leaking out. Plastic bag for the bolts. Hated pulling driveshafts, as if hadn't been pulled before was going to be a pain.
    Chances are the driver knew the end was near, though other times it's a surprise. The interior condition wasn't the most pristine truck I've ever seen. With a turn in order, the driver will have problems finding another job.

    • @spencers4121
      @spencers4121 Год назад

      From what I heard, Celadon wanted drivers to return the trucks to the nearest terminal too.
      I wouldn't be shocked if the company slaps him with abandoning the truck. Personally I think it's a bit moronic to fire a driver on the road, and expect them to drive it back to a terminal.
      Maybe in this case the driver knew it was coming, and was just heading home.

Companies should be held more accountable than they are, on the flip side, that driver is a slob, there is no reason that truck should be a pig pen, have some ethics and pride, thats your house on the road, and speaks volumes about work ethics when your truck looks like the local tweekers horders house of horrors.

      I do not want liabilty if the driver attempted to sabatoge the unit. Anytime we have a tow with a company/driver dispute we do everything in our power not to start the truck. We find them all the time, pouring rain and the fuel caps are open all kinds of stuff. So we attempt to cover our butts by just not starting it.

    Judging by the mismatched tires, the company very likely screwed him over. And the driver allowed them to do it cause he likely signed something he didn’t know what he was signing. The guy said they terminated him, but with how they can twist the truth maybe the company was running him into the ground and he refused to drive until they made it right with him. I’d like to know what exactly happened. I currently drive for a carrier doing a lease purchase. I’m praying to the gods above that I get my truck paid off as early as possible so I can never ever be in his position. There are so many drivers like him that we never hear about. This happens all the time with those shady carriers proudly screwing drivers over and they are such cowards they say “well he signed the contract” when unless you’re a 3rd year law student nobody can decipher those garbage contracts. And they purposely do it, they pay really smart people to draft up a BS contract and pay them 10/20 grand for their wording. They make many copies of that contract and make their money back in 2 weeks. It’s disgusting

    • @MercifulTowing
      @MercifulTowing  Год назад +1

      Yeah, there was a big section of the video of him attempting to explain what happened, something to do with he had 2 blowouts and they put on tires the driver didn't think were right or something. I don't remember all the details but I'm also not there for that, Im there to do my job. I cut it out because I do not know the truth and I try not to bash drivers or companies. But you are absolutely 100% correct there are ALOT of shady companies. Probably 75% of the drivers I tow are not pleased with who they work for.

    1st time watching but it’s unlikely anyone is going to steal a semi truck with someone living in it it’s appeared to be abandoned and the company made a unauthorized use of a commercial vehicle and they are going to catch the tow bill and impound storages too So I would just tax the company for it all because they probably was running the driver ragged and ripped off the driver until they had enough and dumped the truck on the side of the road !! GOOD FOR THE DRIVER AND GOOD FOR THE TOW BILLS TOO
    We had it happen to us , so sad but the police and the tow company was in on our deal and they stole everything we had and left us in the freezing cold snow and ice because we refuse to move the truck and we refused to put up with the company treating us like crap
    Plus we abandon equipment too and we left the company equipment in the middle of nowhere too and trucking companies are getting disparate with their old junk trucks running on fumes
