Washington launches rebate program to boost electric vehicle sales

The state of Washington is about to test drive a new rebate program, aimed at getting people to buy an electric vehicle, instead of gas.
It comes just as the state's coming off a record year for sales of electric and hybrid vehicles.
One in five, or about 20% of all vehicles sold last year were electric or hybrid-according to car manufacturers.
That’s more than double the national average of 9.5%.

Low income can't afford any new car lease. Mind you have to carry full insurance during the lease. Most low income live in apartments that don't have chargers or garages to keep the batteries warm. Wonder what the repo rate is going to be?

Let all Wa. Tax payers help buy EV’s for the middle and upper class people. I hear there are a few people happy with their EV. Do your research on this. What may work for some, may work out terribly for others.

The most practical and inexpensive EV's are not very expensive electric cars but rather Electric Bikes and Electric Scooters. These are many times more energy efficient than electric cars because they are very light in weight and more practical for shorter distances. They have chargers that use regular 120 Volt AC outlets .They are not designed for distant travel but they can often be used in conjunction with public transit to do so. Personally I use an electric bike for much of my transportation needs as additionally get doctor recommended aerobic exercise pedaling bionically with the electric motor and this also extends its range. I even use it for grocery shopping taking it right into the store and use it just like a shopping cart.Everything else I can have ordered and delivered right to my owner occupied house.

EVs require expensive tires due to the weight of the vehicle and they must be rotated around 6000 miles. Will poor people afford the $250.00 per hour labor to work on EVs?
