You all do nice work, you help me get my coffee day off to a great ACCURATE start before I fire up the machines in the morning and make great parts, thank you. We like the metric reading though we know imperial we machine to metric here in California. 13:14 agree nice shiny finish:)

If you have a look at the bottom right of your gauge . It shows that one division is 0.5um. Half a micron. At least thats what I can see from the video. Nice work. I wish I could get the variety of grinding wheels that you get. Here in New Zealand. 46A and 60A in white is it!

It sometimes helps to coutnerbore the tops of the threaded holes just below the finished surface, to avoid surface distortion around the top thread of the tapped hole when a screw is tightened.

      High Andre,
I agree. We counter sink the holes larger than the the screw diameter to achieve the same thing. Also, it is important not to over tighten the hold down screw as it will cause distortion no matter what method used.

    Great work Steve.
I have an Olympic brand of indicator amplifier but it needs a probe, I guess I,ll start looking for one on ebay.

    Another great video from SR.
Do you balance your wheels after trueing? Thanks

That’s crazy, 2 micron is about the width of a Bacteria!

It is so small of a measurement that it is hard to compare it with anything that people can relate too.

Do you think you can make a metric squaring block? Metric sizes and metric tapped holes?
I enjoy your videos. I work for a special purpose machine building business. Always good to learn about grinding. I do lack a bit there

The first block we did we used 6MM threads for a customer on a 1/2" hole pattern. The nominal size of the block was the same as the others. I can make them whatever sizes the customer what but the cost would be higher as I would have to do a lot of the work on and individual block rather than in a batch. If there was enough interest in a batch of 6 or more I can bring the cost down a lot.

Getting the perfect wheel is sometimes a headache, it doesn't take much to get the tiniest scratch just on the very last pass...
As soon as they get used, wear will show... ;)

      Hi Pierre,
You are right about that. Also, I can't get away from the micro scratches that you get just from moving the part on the surface plate or the magnetic chuck. They do not affect the accuracy and I can't even measure them but you can see them. All of my precision tools have these micro scratches form use but they still measure flat parallel.
