How do I get a constant loop recording longer than 3 minutes? It is only recording 1 minute video clips. Do I need to connect the 256gb card on a laptop to merge the 1 minute video clips that it's recording? I see RUclips videos with over 10 minute recordings using a dash cam. How are they doing that? I'm going to contact VaVa technical support today to see how to get continuous recording!!!

How to mute the audio. Go to settings, go to advance settings. There will be a mute on/off . Select the off and hit the check button on the right and it will set it on mute. Then hit to go back button on the left to return to menu and out.
1080 at 60 is better in my eyes. Resolution is great but having the extra frames are better for editing later. Also with PIP on but camera button on does it record 2 files?
Great question! The camera records 2 separate files: 1 for the front camera and 1 for the cabin facing camera. I manually added the PiP in Final Cut Pro.

Unfortunately Amazon sent me the wrong one... the 'round' cheaper one. I should get this one tomorrow and it cost $152. If Amazon hadn't put their barcode sticker on top of the description sticker they might have seen the mistake. BTW - I bought a Samsung 256G U3 memory card with adapter. This will work, correct?
You said the wifi setting is used to connect to the phone (which has the app on it) but isn't that actually LTE and not wifi? Do you pair up the phone with the camera? Also, does the camera format the SD card or is there another way to format it? If the phone is used as a WiFi hotspot, must it be kept on constantly for the gps to function? That’s possibly a lot of data usage.
The camera has built in WiFi, so you connect to the camera via the WiFi menu in your phone. However, if you still want to use LTE data while connected to the phone's WiFi, the VAVA Dash application sets up a VPN on your phone, so you can still use LTE data. This allows you to connect to the camera's WiFi to look at footage and adjust settings while also listening to Spotify/Apple Music using your LTE data. You can format the micro SD card directly from the camera. If you're asking about the GPS for speed tracking and route management through the VAVA Dash application, this does not rely on your phone's data. There is a GPS module built into the cable that connects from your car to the camera. You can see this rectangular module at 12:26.

I'm about to go out for a test drive but you may know the answer: Assuming there is room on the card, if the clips are recorded and saved in 1 to 3 minutes "loops," -- if you then save and put two consecutive clips together, say on the timeline in editing software, will there be a gap between the two clips? Even if it's a .25 second gap? Just curious. I'm using this Dual Dash Cam for comedy. I can work around that but it would be nice, for me, if there was no gap between consecutive, recorded clips.
Question.....once the dash cam is attached to that cone-shaped mount, will it swivel so that the cabin camera can be aimed toward the driver’s window? This is needed to record any police interaction in case you’re pulled over.
GoPro cameras let you loop record btw. Not perfect but they could work. You could also keep them powered through a cable just as with a dash cam. Worth considering if you have an old GoPro lying around
This does not come with a micro SD card. There is conflicting information on the largest card size it accepts. The manual states both 128 GB is the largest and that 256 GB is the largest in 2 different locations of the manual. I don't have a 256 GB to test, so I would say 128 GB unless VAVA states otherwise. It does not need to be plugged in for parking mode as there is a small built in battery. However, I always have mine plugged in while I'm driving, so parking mode should always work for me.
Update. I'm having inconsistent results using the USB port. It appears to power on and off randomly on my Infiniti M37. I'm going to switch it to the cigarette lighter to see if things improve.
Nice review, thanks! I always wanted to get a dashcam in my car, but I have had a few concerns that prevented me from doing so. One is if the dashcam itself will be a target for vehicle break-in & theft. Two is how much the dashcam will block the driver's view through the windshield. This remains a concern as I see everyone mount the dashcam in the center beneath the rearview mirror. I wonder if I can mount it on the passenger side, so that it is not blocking the driver's view.
You could definitely mount it on the passenger's side and rotate the camera, if necessary, on its ballhead to get the correct view of the road. You probably won't find it necessary to rotate it though as the camera is wide angle. If you rotate it though, you may not get a full interior view of the car. I just installed mine so I'm not sure how much you can see out of the back window with the rear lens. If you are worried about theft, you can unplug the USB cord from the camera remove the camera from it's magnetic mount and take it with you.

Yes, the front recordings are separate files from the rear recordings. The front recordings have a suffix "F" while the rear recordings have a suffix "R" in the file name.
As with most dashcam reviews, you skipped one of the most important facets. Does the dashcam show LED traffic control lights? Most cams have difficulty with this type of traffic light. Either showing it flashing spasmodically or not showing a color (red, amber, green) AT ALL.
This is definitely meant to be installed in a single car. Switching from vehicle to vehicle would require cleaning the windshield and the suction cup mount every time to prevent it from falling. It's definitely possible, and as long as you take the necessary steps you shouldn't experience any issues. You could also buy a second set of cables and a suction cup mount and transfer only the camera.

Battery life is irrelevant since it is designed to operate while plugged in. No use in having a battery operated dash cam that can die on you mid drive. The internal battery is only for parking mode and that kicks on only when movement is felt with the g-sensor.
you completely neglected to point out that this particular camera brand has a built in battery to power the device overnight if your hit by someone or vandalized when the car is off and parked at home or elsewhere... its one if not the only one of these dash cams that has a battery backup... everyone else's needs to be hard wired to the battery to have 24 hour power to it !!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a VAVA 4K dashcam for 10 months and it stopped working two weeks ago. It won't trun on. Getting it serviced by VAVA has been a nightmare! Now, it's an expensive paper weight! Wouldn't recommend!

In this case, this optimizes the reading and writing of video to the micro SD card.
My dash cam just says card read error... tried 3 new cards even format one on pc and still don't work.... so this 2k dual cam is a waste of money so this review is pointless stay away from vava cams...
I always recommend as big as you can afford. Not having to worry about dumping footage or loop recording over needed footage is a nice security blanket.

I've this cam like new .. unboxed not used at all .. it's for $150 without SD card .. $160 with sandisk SD U3 card

Does it work when the car is off??
Generally no, but if you have the parking mode set it will record for 20 seconds if it feels a bump e.g. if someone broke the window or hit your car.

Make sure to clean your windshield with a glass cleaner before attaching it. If that doesn't work, try rinsing the suction cup like @Diegoboy75 said.

Needs to be a U3 card. U1 and U2 don't seem to work. This is an old comment so you may have figured this out by now.
