In memory of Jack " the ripper " lindholm who helped morey boogie start the whole show ( for virtually zip $ ) the picture of Jack on a brand new boogie board about to slay a barrel at pipe was so much for so many like myself. Until I almost died at pipe xmas day in 1977 . Pulled from water semi conscious by a marine. Couldn't afford leashes and nobody ever used them for boogie boards back then. Only one Churchill flipper on my feet. Those were brand new that day lol. That was the first of 3 near death experiences on the north shore. Waimea the other and locals beating the holy shit out of me ( 5 on 1 ) because I dared talk back when insulted. And being a haole. 16 years old.
Nothing thins the line up like a fin or size.

Navigating the gnarly backwash then sacking up and pulling in. Epic ride and skilled waterman right there. Who was it?
It was solid but nothing compared to what Jaws, Teahupo'o, or Nazaré can throw up. Props to the guy in the second clip who knew when it was too late and pulled back.

We were there that day. Saw guys get caught on inside when that freak set came in...we saw at least 4 boards broke in half in shore😆
One of the best days the whole week. What a way to start off a weekend but, by next day, wave was down and water was all choppy.
