I think I will do a few more raw sessions through summer when I’m low on content, bring out a few old sessions from the last couple of years. Hopefully some more from watu to come, at this moment I still have all of my skin, most soldiers are carrying battle wounds, some are sidelined, it’s a hectic wave, but I’m in love.
Ok, so my tips would be first and foremost, if you are below average don’t even bother. It’s shallow, fast, packs a punch and sharp as shit. It will be crowded so expect to “share” the lineup with a fair few other people. If it’s flat there’s nothing else to do. Be prepared to wait, this place tested my patience to the extreme. Not every day will be pumping, I went for a whole month and didn’t surf more days than I surfed. Sackstone is the place to stay if you don’t mind being social. If you do hit the reef, keep it clean and maybe sit out for a few days because you will get an infection and it will end your trip prematurely. Wear a helmet. Greet everyone in the lineup when you paddle out and be respectful, don’t be greedy. If you paddle past everyone and expect to turn on the first wave you can also expect to be burnt on every wave after that. Other than that just go have fun and experience the place, it’s pretty much just cruise and surf and relax on repeat.
