Next time don’t add all the pie filling at once, pour some in your measuring cup and pour it in after you’ve put it in the oven and cover your pie edges with foil when you first put it in this way it doesn’t burn just remove it when it broiled. I. Glad I found you I’m trying this be well and safe
I’m trying to understand the steps you advised as I am planning on making this pie soon! At first I was confused thinking you meant to reserve some custard and add it later on, once the pie has cooked from a while. That can’t be right so I read a few more times. I believe you are saying to not add as much filling so that we are able to cover it with foil and develop nice broil? Since adding too much filling will prevent it from achieving desired caramelized on top?
@@Briimariexx_ Save some of the custard so you can get in to the oven with out spilling. Then with a small measure cup add the rest of the custard and bake 25 mins as recipe says. once the exposed edge of the crust is done use a small long piece of foil (probably two pieces) to cover the edge of the crust. This will keep it from burning while broiling the coconut top.
@@Briimariexx_ cut a similar size aluminium pie plate on the rim and cover the pie edges perfectly. It should stop over burning on the rim. Yes indeed, best to pour filling into a larger glass container and pour the mixture into the pie accordingly.. I find preheating the oven to 400 degrees and turn down to 368 F and let it cook for 35 minutes on convection.

I use pie rings to keep my pies from burning..You can’t find them you can make some out of aluminum fire just make strips and wrap the edges that way your piecrust won’t get too brown..That looks like a delicious pie I will have to try it thanks for sharing

The only thing is that it seems like too much filling for a single pie crust. I had to put the extra into ramekins, which isn’t a bad thing. 😂

It looks simply delicious. Even though I realize presentation is significant, never apologize for a masterpiece. Some like the darker crisper parts, now there is a piece for every taste just the same as with the ribs end portion or a hams fatty edges. It’s so good.
