Back in '68 my first car was a 62 Morris Mini 850. I got the car from a guy who raced a Cooper S at Mosport. I learned so much from that car and the racing community. He had a lightened body that had been Bill Brack's Race Mini the previous season. It had been ruled illegal due to it's various lightening mods. Aluminum skins for trunk, hood and I believe door skins. Glass replaced with lexan. Those are just a few I can recall. Of course illegal parts had little value, and could be picked up for cheap. For example I got a louvered hood for $2. Firestone racing tires that were too worn to pass the scrutineers were $10. Just don't scuff a curb cause the sidewalls were thin. Lot's of great memories. His everyday driver was an Austin 1100. He would put the race motor (1275 with formula junior heads) into that and challenge the locals in their Super Bees and various other muscle cars down at the local burger joint. Strange there were no takers. Carry on with your build. Ignore the haters and nay sayers. They are just jealous. I'm envious !
I had to this this my with SRT trunk. My trunk was leaking through all the gaskets and the last thing I wanted was mold to build in the trunk so I gutted everything. Saved 10 pounds probably.
Could you get like a plexi-glass or an acrylic piece to replace the sunroof? I think that could shed some weight considering that there's a piece of glass above the roof, Oh and also you could leave the carpet for the front driver and passenger seats so you don't have to deal with dirt residing on the floor's nooks and crannies every time when someone comes in
Yeah!! I'm looking into plexiglass to replace the regulars windows, but I have no idea where to start. As for the carpet, I think i'm leaving it for that exact reason.
maybe you can make a line for fire extinguisher from inside the car to engine compartment. maybe when shit happens, it would be helpful and quick so you don't need to open the hood and grab fire extinguisher. just remove the pin, and press the fire extinguisher handle to shut down the fire... (sorry for my bad english)
milanmastracci can't wait! I hope you can get your mini to a crazy amount of power like 320-400hp! But seeing as it's stripped the power to weight with a custom remap will be a absolute monster!
I Have a JB4 on my mini from Burger Motersports. It has a couple of remaps, Let you run E85 and has a dada logger. You can even plug your laptop in to the JB4.
The weather here in K-W is pretty messed up I'm pretty sure it's the same story with Milan, when it'll be warm enough for track days, we don't know yet aha 😂
Do you have any videos explaining air tools, how to use them, safety and so forth, because I recently bought a compressor and an impact set but I have no idea how to use it but keen to learn. I'm in Australia and I'm also looking to buy a pressure regulator but I don't trust ebay, reason is... pumping up tyres and painting needs to be done, a 15 meter hose is kinda iffy with the pressures (if I recall with maths)
15:46 whats behind that white box panel thing right behind the speaker? It adds alot of bulk. Im wondering if theres a way to make the back seat area more roomy.
could removing a lot of weight ruin the balance of the car? you may be able to accelerate and brake faster, but is there any case where removing weight could hurt cornering characteristics? always wondered this
thank you for doing it, now do the same with the dashboard :P, some crappy mechanics messed my upper dash where the airbag is, cuase i had a faulty i think start/stop computer? anyway, it's the one located behind the steering wheel, i took it to a first service who said they could not do it, but i found out later that they ripped off the upper dash's brackets, so now it just makes noises whenever i get over a bump or a small hole, i don't want to change it, since it's not expensive, but not cheap to do it, but it made me tear down the front of the care multiple times with 10's of hours of nerves breaking hope that i can make the noise go... i put some towels in the back, where the dash meets the windshield, just to see if it stops when i put pressure on that area, and for the moment it seems it stopped a bit, but i might have to use maybe a glue gun to kinda make it stick since it is broken or maybe some of that foam that is used for windows, or kind of, not really that type.. is it just me or this generation mini tend to get a lot of plastic noise over the years?
I'm not entirely sure!! Its going to be on the road when it stops snowing here, which will hopefully be within a month or so. As for the full fledge beast, I dont know if I'll be completely 'done' the build for awhile, as there will always be more things I want to change out on it.
milanmastracci you'd be getting a fair bit of road noise from removing the sound deadening and fitting wider tyres so it's only a logical suggestion. But then you might as well go the whole hog of just making this a track/day road trip car
lol - the sun roof probably weighs more than all the interior parts you took out together. with less counter weight in the lower part of the vehicle, the inertial momentum of the roof will cause even more body roll while cornering! --- kids ...
Yeah they're heavy, but there isn't really an option to get rid of it... I could swap it for plexiglass, but at that point, I'd be saving like 10-15 pounds max
Great but get rid of rear speakers and amps - probably as heavy as the few bits of flimsy plastic you took out. It seems it's more about making it look like a race car inside than true weight reduction
I think you chose the worst Mini possible for a track build. You have the special painted exterior package, the dual panoramic sunroof, and the real leather seats and you go and ruin it... Oh, and that sunroof is over 60 lbs if I am not mistaken.
milanmastracci pull them out. I'm assuming there are fronts in the dash or front doors. Those rears aren't needed. They're a few pounds each. Looking good so far though. 👍🏻
I'd like to see that all of that weighs. Honestly I don;t think that is necessary. I have a 2012 MCS and I agree with you about removing the tool set and the seats and going with race seats but other than that it is over kill IMO. Not my car so to each his own. I think you would be better off working on suspension and power.
Yeah I'm going a little overkill because I don't HAVE to drive this every day if I want. I'm looking for better performance, and the more weight I can get rid of, the better. For my daily, just like my accord, I wouldn't remove all of the interior trim pieces to save a few pounds.
milanmastracci yeah I hear you. mine is my daily and it already gets loud without the seats. I would totally work towards a manic tune. I'm Stage 2 and love it the difference is night and day.
hat is for a JCW. They make an extra $10.000 on a body kit and 10 Hp. The MCS is $30.000 to $35.000. By the JCW Aero kit and a JB4 for around $3500. You will have a MC that looks like a JCW and it will more HP. You will still have money to spend on other thing for the MC. I special ordered my F56 MCS from MINIUSA.com then pick it up at the Mini dealer for $31.000 US dollars. I put a JB4, Ramus exhaust with cut out and a few other things. I haven't got close to $40.000 yet and the dino says that it is making between 310 to 320 Hp. That is six runs.
yo Milan. don't yo think this is a bit too long for just striping. don't get me wrong, you're trying to go in depth but I think it's a little too much.
you need to weigh all the parts that you stripped off
New Drinking Game
Every time he say "NOW" take a shot.
Vapor Gaming or "as it stands"
Next video: Milan gets hammered playing the milmast drinking game ;)
What about "OEM"
Lol naw, you want a challenge take a shot for every "so".
Dylan Buckner take a shot each time he says "here"
Can't believe I sat and watched the full video it was actually really interesting
Thanks for being so detailed!!! This video will be really helpful for when I add sound damping material to the rear and fix one of my rear speakers.
gopro head mount would be so cool for these types of videos btw love the content:)
Can you upload more videos please! I love your videos keep it up!
Can't wait for the track video

Good stuff on the mini man, love me some gutted interior!
I had to this this my with SRT trunk. My trunk was leaking through all the gaskets and the last thing I wanted was mold to build in the trunk so I gutted everything. Saved 10 pounds probably.
I cant wait to see how this car progresses, so much more exciting than the last white mini you had on your channel :)
Thanks buddy!! The other mini is my brother's car.. He still has it but he didn't get bit with the Mod Bug ;)
I love that you call your car Layla! Mine is Lola. great video, thanks.
So close lol
100k Subscribers! Well done Milan.
Thanks Adrian :)

Yeah!! I'm looking into plexiglass to replace the regulars windows, but I have no idea where to start. As for the carpet, I think i'm leaving it for that exact reason.
These videos are really informative. Just imagine a BMW V8 in a Mini!
It has been done. They made it into a rear wheel drive car. You had to sit in the back seat. to drive. no room up front with the tranny.
maybe you can make a line for fire extinguisher from inside the car to engine compartment. maybe when shit happens, it would be helpful and quick so you don't need to open the hood and grab fire extinguisher. just remove the pin, and press the fire extinguisher handle to shut down the fire... (sorry for my bad english)
What about a custom dyno remap from a good mod shop?
Thats on the way :)
milanmastracci can't wait! I hope you can get your mini to a crazy amount of power like 320-400hp! But seeing as it's stripped the power to weight with a custom remap will be a absolute monster!

The weather here in K-W is pretty messed up I'm pretty sure it's the same story with Milan, when it'll be warm enough for track days, we don't know yet aha 😂
Will you keep the eletronics? Like that 12v output and the speakers?
Do you have any videos explaining air tools, how to use them, safety and so forth, because I recently bought a compressor and an impact set but I have no idea how to use it but keen to learn.
I'm in Australia and I'm also looking to buy a pressure regulator but I don't trust ebay, reason is... pumping up tyres and painting needs to be done, a 15 meter hose is kinda iffy with the pressures (if I recall with maths)
If your ac compressor is at the bottom of the engine bay I would really appreciate it if you could do a video on how to replace it.
15:46 whats behind that white box panel thing right behind the speaker? It adds alot of bulk. Im wondering if theres a way to make the back seat area more roomy.
Congrats on 100k, keep it up!
Thanks buddy :) Wouldn't be here without my awesome viewers like you!!
Milan wouldn"t removing the rear wiper be a disadvantage when driving through rain and the rear windscreen getting sloshed in mud?
Yeah I guess.. We'll see :)
love this build man
Thanks buddy!! :) There's a lot to do to this car
layla looking dope
Re-route the rear washers to spray the intercooler for cooling.
That's not a half bad idea :)
could removing a lot of weight ruin the balance of the car? you may be able to accelerate and brake faster, but is there any case where removing weight could hurt cornering characteristics? always wondered this
yes that's a downside, but corner balancing with adjustable height suspension ie. coilovers could fix that
Milan I've a question. When you remove the pastic piece from rear door, It's the same proces in the golf IV? Thanks!
Greetings from Spain!!
Yes :)
Did you say "easily take outable"??? lmao!
This is a second gen, R56, right? I have a JCW R53 track car. Will be removing interior soon!
It is an R56 indeed. That's awesome!
Great video, question, do you have to keep the rubber seal around the car to stop leaking etc? Ie rain
Which rubber seal are you referring to?
@@milanmastracci sorry I should have been more specific, the seal round the doors etc and boot
Thinking of doing this to my r56 and keeping it to that way for ever’Did u put everything back after the race track
imagine if you went crazy on the weight reduction and did a chop top. that would be a sight
I'm doing this to the mini that I totally have😉
Wicked :) Lets go to the track in our mini's ;)
thank you for doing it, now do the same with the dashboard :P, some crappy mechanics messed my upper dash where the airbag is, cuase i had a faulty i think start/stop computer? anyway, it's the one located behind the steering wheel, i took it to a first service who said they could not do it, but i found out later that they ripped off the upper dash's brackets, so now it just makes noises whenever i get over a bump or a small hole, i don't want to change it, since it's not expensive, but not cheap to do it, but it made me tear down the front of the care multiple times with 10's of hours of nerves breaking hope that i can make the noise go... i put some towels in the back, where the dash meets the windshield, just to see if it stops when i put pressure on that area, and for the moment it seems it stopped a bit, but i might have to use maybe a glue gun to kinda make it stick since it is broken or maybe some of that foam that is used for windows, or kind of, not really that type.. is it just me or this generation mini tend to get a lot of plastic noise over the years?
keep it up bro. really anxious to see the mini on track.. how long will it take estimately to become a full fledge beast?
I'm not entirely sure!! Its going to be on the road when it stops snowing here, which will hopefully be within a month or so. As for the full fledge beast, I dont know if I'll be completely 'done' the build for awhile, as there will always be more things I want to change out on it.
milanmastracci yeah there is no limit in transforming a car to a beast
Exactly :) But when it gets warm, I promise you this thing will be on the road!!
from watching previous videos you refer to the accord as Layla so you named the mini it too or was that an accident?
I refer to the Accord as Leanne :) Layla is now the mini
Hey milan are you restalling all this back or this will be teared apart for race?
I'll most likely keep all of that stuff out :)
Can you do a video on how to do a kill switch because I'm looking to do it with my Del sol but don't how to start it
awesome video bro
I waiting for the track race video
Gotta wait till it gets warmer lol its currently snowing as we speak here in Ontario :)
What will you do with the airbags and seatbelts??
The ones in the rear I will probably remove, but might leave the fronts. We'll see :)
How much weight was saved by this?
does it worth it ? so its not so heavy this plastic does it make any differents ? :D
A litte bit of the interior, not so much, but when you take it all out, it adds up :)
Awesome
Dr Panel Popper😂
Are you going to be removing the sound system?
Not quite sure yet :)
milanmastracci you'd be getting a fair bit of road noise from removing the sound deadening and fitting wider tyres so it's only a logical suggestion. But then you might as well go the whole hog of just making this a track/day road trip car
Speakers and rear struts staying?
I'm not sure yet :) We'll see how crazy I want to get with removing weight..
do racing seats make the car lighter besides performance
A lot :)
milanmastracci thanks😉
lol - the sun roof probably weighs more than all the interior parts you took out together. with less counter weight in the lower part of the vehicle, the inertial momentum of the roof will cause even more body roll while cornering! --- kids ...
What about the sunroof those are dumb heavy?
Yeah they're heavy, but there isn't really an option to get rid of it... I could swap it for plexiglass, but at that point, I'd be saving like 10-15 pounds max
The glass alone weighs more than that By the time you take the glass, motors, tracks and wiring. You are close to around 50 LBS.
put some recaro seats or bride seats :)
Ohhh buddy you just wait :D I definitely have something in store!!
Great but get rid of rear speakers and amps - probably as heavy as the few bits of flimsy plastic you took out. It seems it's more about making it look like a race car inside than true weight reduction
remove the sound deadening, that's an easy 20-40 lbs on most cars. put some dry ice on it and it will crack off in huge pieces and be easy to remove
How many lbs lost..approx?
Ask Haggard Garage How to Do it!
thats a small car, but damn it's heavy for a "mini" lol
Yeah no kidding lol there's lots of crap they put on this car for no reason
milanmastracci I agree.
as Moog for a ride in his new Vtec powered classic Mini, you will giggle like a school girl
I would have put a BMW B48 engine in the Mini. That is the engine in the new F56 Mini.
I think you chose the worst Mini possible for a track build. You have the special painted exterior package, the dual panoramic sunroof, and the real leather seats and you go and ruin it...
Oh, and that sunroof is over 60 lbs if I am not mistaken.
Cool Milan❤
Keeping the speakers?
Not entirely sure yet.. Maybe? We'll see how heavy they are and then i'll decide
milanmastracci pull them out. I'm assuming there are fronts in the dash or front doors. Those rears aren't needed. They're a few pounds each. Looking good so far though. 👍🏻
are you still going widebody?
Absolutely :) I"m just waiting on the fenders to come in :D
dayuuum, so hyped for you broo ! i own a swift and i wanna try widebody but still thinking about it :/
I'd like to see that all of that weighs. Honestly I don;t think that is necessary. I have a 2012 MCS and I agree with you about removing the tool set and the seats and going with race seats but other than that it is over kill IMO. Not my car so to each his own. Where is the part 2 video
the cars going to be so loud now
shared and liked ur video
Mini-malistic interior
someone do a clips counter in this clip (pun intended)
Race car!
still only makes 300hp
A ducati won't make more than 200 horsepower but it will kill almost anything on the road... Its about power to weight
Finish up the wide body already damnit
Bruh I'm waiting for it to come in.. If it was up to me, i'd be in by now!!
milanmastracci I would be bugging that company daily. I can't wait to see how it comes together
Yo Milan how much did you pay for Layla?
I paid 9300 Canadian after taxes
Dude thats CRAZYY ! cheap as hell. here in Israel everthing is too damm expensive . >
hat is for a JCW. They make an extra $10.000 on a body kit and 10 Hp. The MCS is $30.000 to $35.000. By the JCW Aero kit and a JB4 for around $3500. Remove that heavy carpet!!!!
uhhhhhhh why?
Notification Squad !!
guccimane youre the fuck nigga. wanna be Gucci mane ass nigga. Pulling up to Milani's channel looking to hate ass nigga. Get out of here ! lol
STRAIGHT PIPE LAYLA.
I WANT TO!!
this video didn't need to be 23 minutes long....
Criosphinx 101 agree. he just likes to go in very in depth. it's little boring but it's ok I guess
I like to go in depth too if you know what I mean
I think if someone want to do the same thing they would watch the whole video
your comment didn't need to be 10 words long
That's why he made it 9 words long.
U probably only lost like 10 pounds if that
How to destroy your car in 10 easy steps.
yo Milan. don't yo think this is a bit too long for just striping. don't get me wrong, you're trying to go in depth but I think it's a little too much.
Are you Persian?
Cina Rajai no he's black
Half Italian, half Lebanese :)
milanmastracci so you know how to speak Arabic?
Takeoutable
Its a word ;)
milanmastracci your videos are awesome 👍
But why are you trying to build a track set up on a fucking mini?
Because it is a very good platform. Small, fairly light, larger aftermarket community, fun.
milanmastracci there's a big aftermarket community for minis? And what's your projected whp by the end of the build
Why this mini. It has a sun roof. That is 50+ LBS.
Christopher Pirri very good point
carbon fiber roof? lol i think that would be badass
No disrespect bro, im a fan but damn, you really talk too much ...
Good luck when you get into an accident and you get squashed for saving what 100-200 pounds, just drive with less then half tank of fuel to save 50lbs
