- The Prologue of the first episode of the Tick tells us how he came to be assigned to The City, and I thought it'd be fun to try to recreate the entire animated sequence using Maya. It was just for fun and there are plenty of rough edges, but I wanted to do my own little tribute to Ben Edlund's wonderful show.
The renders may not be perfect, but the sheer level of detail and dedication shown by this is, in The Tick's own words, MIGHTY!!!!
Ha, the renders are waaaay far from perfect! :)
Thanks for leading me here. Adding this to the opening...it's even more incredible, than I have previously said! It's...I may say even better than orignal. If only the whole series could be remade this way...
There is also a very disappointing thing - the number of views. I watched this series as a kid, and understood it is a parody, and I loved the humor of this series. I loved X-Men (number 2), Spiderman (number 3), but The Tick was a number 1! And one of the few I can fully enjoy as an adult. I can't believe It's popularity is so low....
Again...thanks for your wonderful work!
Very impressive recreation ,lotsa work went into the modelling especially.
Fantasic! I think the fun part, is that the animation would actually be high end for the era The Tick aired. Like ReBoot and BeastWars.
There's so much effort and love in this. Bravo! The intro recreation feels like something you see at the start of a Tick video game. Good vibes. ^_^
This definitely needs a comeback! SPOON!!
Very impressive work, especially the details on the background characters. Extra points for the judges.
A bit of trivia: this backstory was made just for the cartoon. In the original comic book, Tick is an escapee from an asylum.
Yea spooooooooon
I miss the 90s Era!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Aw man… now I want a game like this. It’s, it’s just too Mightly perfect! SPOOON!!
Bravo, good sir!
I just became a tick fan recently and I’m absolutely enthralled by this splendid work
That's so great to hear - thank you!
Very good work!
This is perfection!
This is so well done it's extremely accurate
Thanks so much! :)
Incredible!!
Epic..! :D
Exelent!!!!!!
This is wonderful, you are wonderful. I love your Tick stuff! :D
Love it ❤️❤️❤️
Magnifico, dude!
Now reanimate the whole series...
okay maybe not xD
Ha, that's the dream :)
It's clear that the judges we saw r the parody of the fantastic 4
i was going to ask why there were only 3, but invisible woman is the one missing
Wait till you find "The Civic Minded Five", they'll make a difference . . . just not in the way you'd expect lol.
I wish I was living in the past not in the future😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😧😧
👍🏾👏
Might I recommend Blender. It's more powerful than Maya (not to mention lightweight), does more in one package, free and open source.
It's a whole software suite, in one program.
Hope this helps.
I forgot to add that the renders are faster.
Blender's a great program but I hate the workflow - it feels so clunky to me without marking menus and the in-window functionality of Maya (it's also because I'm so used to Maya that I'm too stubborn to change :) The biggest hurdle right now is that it's still lagging behind Maya in rigging tools - last I checked it still doesn't have set-driven keys or grouping (collections are different in that they aren't transformable entities the way Maya groups are, which makes rigging so much easier), which is a deal breaker - and I'm really a rigger primarily so it's hard to justify making that leap. I do keep downloading the newest versions of Blender though!
Why does most of the intro look like clay mation
