The Timpanist is Stephan Curlis - solo Pauker NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg and Bayreuth Festspiele Orchestra.
Former Berliner akademist in Karajan years and Osvald Vogler pupil.
Simply a genius!!
He plays many works of the repertoire by memory (see above there's no music stand in front of the timps)

Hayato Mori, I believe the timpanist is Stephan Cürlis from the NDR Symphony Orchestra from Hamburg performing as a guest musician with the BPO. He's an amazing player, playing tons of repertoire by heart!
