I am very keen on the idea of hemp fibre being used more often. While I love my wool it's not necessarily ideal for really hot weather. Cotton has many good points but it can be hard on the environment. By contrast, hemp can be grown in a great many environments and it's not particularly water-greedy, nor does it need the quantities of pesticides and herbicides that cotton needs. So I'm definitely interested in seeing if it can be used to make useful and fashionable fabrics.
Thank you for your lovely video, Joan! I'm an agriculture at student A&M currently taking a class on hemp production and this video really helped me with a project I'm currently working on for class. I'm an avid knitter, but I hope to get into spinning my own fibers someday, perhaps even as part of my career. Thanks for keeping the art and rich tradition of fiber crafts alive!
Hello ma'am. I am trying to work with agave fiber, because there's so much agave and cactus around here. Do you think I can make something like your jacket? It looks very stylish.

Thank you so much for the video:) how many metres or yards can you make in about 1 minute?
I'm just here to see how long the fibers are
Thank you Joan. Is it important in which direction the spinning goes?
Bello Joan, nice work, where are you from?
What brand of spinning wheel are you using?
Looks like a Majacraft Suzie spinning wheel to me - but I may be wrong in regard to the model.
how can i get one of these spinners?
