I think a combined Australian and New Zealand carrier group would also greatly assist as a deterrent to any aggression towards our nations.

    • @andrewg3238
      @andrewg3238 2 года назад +1

I think the acquisition of such a capability would take longer to stand up than a nuclear submarine force, insofar as we would have to select, build or acquire vessels capable of fixed with operations. Train, qualify and stand up relevant aircraft squadrons. Would require almost a doubling of air force (assuming like the UK Fleet Air Arm would be part of the RAAF) and would mean that most of navy's focus would be towards the singular mission of providing the task force required to protect such a valuable asset as a carrier. Leaving very little else other than the incoming Offshore Patrol Vessels to perform most other tasking given the usual maintenance and refit cycles for assets. And for what? Unless we are talking something akin to a Queen Elizabeth Class carriers to provide something with enough 'weight' to be worth employing as a 'deterrent'.

Yeah one with rafales, not f-35s on a French sized or Current US Super Carrier size
Tryingbto force the LHDs into a carrier role years after they were built after being chosen against being a carrier is the standard retardation the ADF is known for and that "after manufacturing decision making" needs to be forcable beaten to a pulp then kicked of the highest cliff in the world with 40kg of C4 straped to the carcass rigged to detonate on impact at the bottom

Australia is 20 years behind in its sovereign defence capabilities with rest of the world. We are now just getting into hypersonic research… when rest of the other countries including China started 20 years ago …
I hope this increase tension in indo-pacific Region will enable Australian government to see the importance and identify keys areas that is lagging behind for years with our neighbours.

Sir Hugh Dowding did not face the odd's we ( you Sir, ) face today in the South Sea . (Congratulations on your appointment)
Sir Hugh's Victory in 1940 was a Lucky one . Tactics would be the same . all these years later . Survive .
We need 225 F 35's . not one less. not 75 . Do we (you ) have a plan to get the other jets and tankers (Drone tankers ?) that the RAAF require , and Budget .Now?
If not ,why not ? Fair question .
Army got more M1a2sep3's. ,Tanks have no value in the south sea. or anywhere at this moment. Money gone , Billions Wasted. If they get here and we have to use tanks we have already lost . The money Could (should) have been spent on the RAAF . Blind Freddy could even see that.

The harsh reality most Australians don't want to admit is that the adf is a boutique military force with 0.31% of the nations population on the books for the ADF in some fighing military capacity.
More should be done with the same military budget, defence military personnel don't get over or penalties rates (that their service allowance) stop employinh overpriced defence contracted civilians, stop unnecessary base upgrades, stop buying over priced over engineered vehicles equipment, if something (jet, boat or tank) is cheaper off the shelf than being mostly made in Aus then buy it off the shelf... free up finances for more fighting personnel or more combat military aircraft... bolster number with the JAS-39C gripen its a proven combat package with affordable maintenance per flight hours cost along with refuel/rearm Tim's compared to other platforms.
Stop caring about which market or who's friends with what company or which company to retire to...
More planes, more pilots less bullsh£t less taxpayer money wasted because of the known ADFs though process of making something fit the ADFs needs after its been designed by the designers which means redesigning and modification that needs to be forcable beaten to a pulp then kicked of the highest cliff in the world with 40kg of C4 straped to the carcass rigged to detonate on impact at the bottom

But that would mean ex Australian military officers working for the private sector won't get their KICKBACKS, funded by the Australian TAXPAYER.
      PROCUREMENT PROBLEMS:
Tiger Helicopters only fit for operations since 2016. Meant to last into the late 2030s. Now being replaced by Apaches which they beat in the original tender.
Taipan helicopters much the same, being replaced early by Blackhawk.
F18G Burns up on the runway before it even flys to Australia and wasn't insured.
      The Submarine fiasco.
      BOXER Turret problems.
The list goes on and on.
ADF Procurement seems to, on the face of it to have some problems.
